  1. Crockett has an enrollment of 1306 students, according to TSSAA. They are classified as 5A in Tennessee, but are considered 4A in Virginia for the purpose of Power Points. Their record over the past 4 years has been: '11 1-9 '12 2-8 '13 5-5 '14 5-5 They could conceivably go 5-5 again this year, and "IF" Union wins would give them 32 power points. From viewing the limited video on their hudl page, they do have a good looking RB, QB, and WR. We'll find out Friday for sure.
  2. My wife and I got a chuckle out of that. If I didn't know better I would have thought I wrote that myself. I think a lot of kids do too much celebrating these days, Union included. I couldn't help but laugh at how the Union student section left the bleachers and ran down to the flag pole end of the field for the OT session, and then ran to the scoreboard end because they thought the field flipped on Union's turn. Then ran back to the flag side again when they realized it didn't. They didn't have a clue how OT works, but they were just happy to be there and make some noise. What it would be to be young again!
  3. Highlights on BHC, WCYB, and WJHL websites. From Bristol Herald Courier... First downs basically even. 60 yards separating the two. 802 total yards. Team Stats First Downs: RIC 24, U 23; Rushes-Yards: RIC 167, U 206; Passing Yards: RIC 264, U 165; Comp.-Att.-Int.: RIC 18-32-3, 10-22-1; Fumbles-Lost: RIC 3-2, U 2-0; Penalties-Yards: RIC 11-90, U 6-55; Punts-Average: RI 3-31, U 7-29
  4. Heard some of the same stuff at Union from BOTH Appy and PV folks. People expected a state championship the first year. Both programs had been run into the ground before consolidation.People were calling for Turner's head the first year. It has taken time to build that program. This is the first year that ALL players are 100% Union students (last year still had a few players that were 8th grade Appy high students or 8th grade PV football). So, there are no kids left that played football the PV way or the Appy way. It is now the UNION way. I believe that makes a difference. Depending on how the season goes for Ridgeview the fan complaints may get better or worse, but as ALL students become 100% Ridgeview students it will be better.
  5. I hate that some of you guys had a bad experience with some cops and fans. It does happen at places. A Richlands teenager called my wife a bi*** last year after the game as we were walking to our cars. I didn't judge Richlands by him, and it won't stop me from going up there next year. I had a nice after game conversation with a couple of guys from Richlands that were parked near me last night. It was a hyped up game and sometimes emotions get the better of people. Richlands/Union has been a series of very close and competitive games. I just hope that it doesn't turn into a "heated" rivalry where everybody hates each other.
  6. I hope not. I DO NOT want to see them again this year. I just want to take the win and go home(or stay home in this case). This was such a hard fought and evenly matched game. Absolutely amazing. For the 5th year in a row decided in the final minute 30 (I think). Third year in a row decided on the final play. Hat goes off to Richlands. It started a little chippy, but I saw a lot of sportsmanship on both sides. A TON of respect between these programs and their fans. Sometimes you really do wish that this was still like T-Ball in that you could tell all the players on both teams it was tie.
  7. I understand and almost appreciate your hatred of Phil Robbins and Powell Valley, but you do realize that Union is NOT Powell Valley, right?
  8. Per twitter, people already in line at Bullet Park.
  9. Go to the Little League fields on the left of the stadium. Sometimes it fills up a little slower than the right side. There's an exit over there as well. Also, on Shawnee ave. Short walk from the park. Just face the red light so you can get out easier.
  10. If you take the first BSG exit (#2) you can go by the new Union High building. It's not Ridgeview, but definitely better than the old PV building. And unless you get caught by a train, it's really not any longer distance to the stadium. It's 35 mph vs 5 red lights. Pick your poison I guess.
  11. Gates open at 5:30. A lot of people walk around the track during the day. At some point they will "shew" those people out and lock the gates. I'm sure you can line up at any time after that. Also, unless they make an exception for this game the ticket booth doesn't open up until EXACTLY 5:30. Frustrating.
  12. Just last week WAXM announced they would be covering Ridview vs Central. It was on their website too. Now it says Richlands vs Union on the website.
  13. The rumors are everywhere just like always. The first post on here about it didn't come from a Union poster. Once it's out it's out. Confirming a missing player, for whatever reason, isn't going to make a difference in the game. I would be VERY surprised if Coach Mance would devise his whole game plan based on what is posted on a forum anyway, true or not. With that being said my only concern would be to avoid mentioning names and deeds. I don't want to see any player run down regardless of past transgressions. They're just kids and kids make mistakes. Sometimes the same ones over and over. Heck, I knew a guy that had 8 car accidents before he graduated high school. The game will turn out the way it is supposed to. If we lose and meet Richlands again then that will just be another weapon they won't be prepared for.
  14. Depending on the offensive formations run, there could be anywhere from 4 to 6 playing both ways. No doubt this missing player will have an impact. More on offense than defense IMO. I don't think it will make a difference in the outcome unless it is a single score where people would say if ________ had been playing that wouldn't have happened. Guess that's always possible.
  15. I like your thinking! Are you one of the refs we paid off for this game? :)
  16. https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9549046,-82.5998225,731m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en Pre-stadium image, but you can tell where it is. Also, you can see how limited the parking is and how far away it is from Wal-Mart. Walking back down won't be hard, but if you can, hitch a ride up.
  17. Stadium is great. View from up there is outstanding. Seating is good. Parking???, unless they added more since I drove up there this summer, is abysmal. Of course, you can always park at Wal-Mart and walk up.
  18. Shew, I don't EVEN remember.
  19. YES! Especially that pearl white helmet contrasted with the orange and blue U. I'm not a fan of the orange, but it's growing on me.
  20. I think the question about the kicker has already been answered. In addition to that. The team warmed up at Union and then arrived at Burton not long before kickoff. I think that may have made a difference too. Union does have the DBs to cover just about anyone. There is always an issue of a missed assignment or a DB slipping or something, but assuming perfect conditions, I don't think there will be an issue there. In fact, I don't think Union has ever been beaten by the pass. I think every loss they have had has come from mistakes on their part or from a team with a strong running game. That's why there's been more excitement about the defense this year. It would seem they finally have the defense or players to stop the run. Of course, they haven't faced a running team in their scrimmages or in their first game except for maybe Tennessee High. But that scrimmage was short lived due to weather. And our QB is very comfortable running. I've still yet to see him throw any meaningful passes since he missed the scrimmages and didn't have to in the Burton game. I was told that he did very well during 7 on 7s, but I never got to see any.
  21. I wanted to get up there, but just couldn't make it, so I guess it was someone else. I'll be at Bullet Park Friday though, but I won't be moving as fast as the guy in the video! :)
  22. Bullet Park gonna be like this on Friday: Worth a laugh if you have never seen it.
  23. I noticed that they used him a couple of times. He's actually bigger(he's 220) than Summers, but I think he's "meaner" on the DL like they have him.
