    Pick 5

Any reason(s) they can't/won't play at Riggs anymore? I was thinking they played at least one game there several years ago against Sullivan North.
  2. I can neither confirm or deny said rumor.🤔
  3. I wouldn't doubt it. It was shoulder to shoulder even up where we were standing. That was a game played by grown men.
  4. No, they're not quite that bad. They have a 31-7 win over Okeechobee (Okeechobee is probably Blount bad) and three close losses to teams who will finish under .500, but they're probably not William Blount bad. Treasure Coast 44 Central 7 Final
  5. Treasure Coast 35 Fort Pierce Central 0 Half Central has an enrollment of 2,733 but they are really bad. It'd probably help if they didn't have 5 guys starting for Treasure Coast that started out at Central. Recruiting down here is insane.
  6. Off the top of my head and with some of the years missing, because it's been a day or two since I was at the game. They're also in no particular order... 1968 - Gate City at Appy. I stood with my dad and brother up next to the gym trying to watch because of the crowd. We had to park on the side of the road a mile or so towards Blackwood. The game ended in a 6-6 tie. 1969 - Appy 12 Gate City 0 at Gate City 1969 - Gate City 30 PV 24 at Gate City. A frantic PV 4th quarter rally comes up short 1973 - Madison Co 23 Clintwood 22 in the state title game at Bullitt Park, with the aid of a highly questionable interference call or non-call IIRC. 1982 - JJ Kelly 19 Purry/Parry McCluer 14 as Kelly hits a TD pass in the closing moments. 1985 - PV 28 Lunenburg 27 @ Bullitt Park. PV stops a Charger 2 point PAT with around a minute to go. When asked by reporters why they didn't kick to tie, Chippie Chappel said something to the effect of "they 4 and 5 yarded us to death all day. I didn't see us winning a series of 10 yard scrimmages against them". 1988 - Jonesville 21 Strasburg 20 at Bullitt Park. The stunned look on the faces of the Strasburg fans standing at the fence next to me was priceless. The thought Jonesville was a joke, in spite of what I told them before the game. 1981 - Clintwood 8 PV 7 at Clintwood. Clintwood gets a safety on the last play of the game for the win. 1982 - PV 14 Madison Co 13 at Western Albamarle. PV survives a last second chip shot FG attempt. To be fair to the MC kicker, the nose of the football was almost on the goal line and he had a terrible angle. 1989 - Robbie Duncan to Ricky Webb in the corner of the end zone as PV roars down the field in the closing minute to beat Lunenburg again. 1970 - Gate City 16 Dublin 8 at GC in the 1st round. It would be the closest game GC would have that year. 1994 - PV 34 Lebanon 33 at Lebanon 1997 - PV 20 Appy 14 at Bullitt Park. Truly a shame either had to lose, and IIRC, Gate City and Graham went on to win their state titles as well. 2006? Riverheads 21 JI Burton 20 at JMU. A terrible unsportsmanlike conduct call may have cost Burton a state title. 2017 - Appomattox 24 Union 21 at Bullitt Park. Union's special teams cost them this one. 2010 thru today. Just about any given Union v Richlands game with several bizarre, heart stopping endings. 2012 - Elizabethton 41 Sullivan North 38 at Betsy. This was the 3rd round of the playoffs and it was a valiant effort by Robbie Norris and his Raiders in a game that IIRC went 3 OT. 2009? Giles Co 21 Greeneville 14 in the TSSAA 4A title game. Future Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace throws a game winning 80 yard TD with 3 minutes to go on a cold, windy day in Cookville. 2011? Sevier Co 35 Dobyns Bennett 28 in the 2nd round. D-B races out to a 28-0 halftime lead and loses 35-28. 2010? Daytona Beach Mainland 28 Deland 21 Both came in at 9-0 and there was something like 15 total players in this one who went on to play at the FBS level. 2012? New Smyrna Beach 24 Daytona Beach Mainland 21 at NSB. The Cudas drive down the field and throw a 30+ yard game winning TD with maybe 5 seconds left. 2021 - Cocoa 42 Vero Beach 41 at Vero in 2 OT. The Tigers for two and get the win. 2021 - Cocoa 56 Treasure Coast 55 at Cocoa in 4 OT. Just like with Vero, Cocoa wins it with a 2 point conversion. 2021 - Cocoa 20 Rockledge 14 at Rockledge. It was like a vintage Appy - PV game with a huge crowd and rivals that are located less than 5 miles apart. 2012 - Apopka 53 Cypress Bay 50 at the Citrus Bowl in the Class 8A title game. I got whiplash watching these two go back and forth.

    Important…

I'd hate to see the board go. Living in south Florida, it's about the only football link I have for back home.
  8. Martin Co 21 Ft Lauderdale Stranahan 11 9:20 4th
  9. Martin Co 14 Ft Lauderdale Stranahan 11 8:24 3rd Williams with 5 catches for 26 yards.
  10. Martin Co 14 Ft Lauderdale Stranahan 3 Half Stranahan 5 star WR has 3 catches for 17 yards and one kickoff return for 11 yards. He's a big dude at 6'4 200, but his QB is awful.
  11. Ft Lauderdale Stranahan 3 Martin Co 0 8:40 2nd Stranahan has 5 star WR Haykeem Williams who is headed to Free Shoes U™ So far he has 1 catch for 5 yards. The Stranahan QB probably couldn't start for Union. 😐
  12. We were really fortunate. We were on the southeast side of it, where it was mostly "dry" compared to the rest of the storm. We started getting outflow bands Tuesday evening and had around 4 inches of rain with several tornado warnings, but on Wednesday, we hardly had any rain at all, but the wind picked up in the afternoon and peaked out that evening and night with 45 MPH sustained winds with gusts to 65-70. We closed our hurricane shutters on Tuesday afternoon before the rain hit and took yard decorations inside so they wouldn't fly away, but that was about the extent of preparations except for having food/water/flashlight batteries on hand. Some parts of town lost power for a few hours, but we never did. There were tons of small limbs and palm fronds down everywhere, along with a few privacy fences knocked down, but that was about it.
  13. All the games in our area were moved to Monday and one on Tuesday It's a gorgeous 82 degree cloudless day here today, but the teams haven't been able.to practice for 3 days because of hurricane and tropical storm warnings. . Think we'll watch John Carroll Catholic at Cardinal Newman in West Palm Beach on Monday. Both are state title contenders in their divisions. On Tuesday we may go watch Treasure Coast at #10 (national) Chaminade-Madonna in Hollywood, provided I feel like navigating the Miami metro rush hour traffic, which is truly a white knuckle ride.
  14. Anyone here remember when Lynch, KY came across Black Mtn to play Appy back in the early 70's? Appy thumped them pretty bad, but Lynch had a dynamite little RB named Joe Washington who rushed for well over 200 yards and 4 TD or so that night. There was also a great running back at Oklahoma by the same name back then.
  15. One of my friends used to play for Belfry. The first time PV went to Breathitt, he told me PV would be down 2 TD when they got off the bus. I thought he was joking, but he was right.
  16. They did play North. IIRC, one of the North kids got hurt pretty bad in a game at Riggs.
  17. Union has played Motown West, Crockett and Sullivan North in the past. I remember Lee playing Knoxville Austin-East back in the early 90s. Gate City has played North, South, D-B, THS, Central, Ketron, Lynn View and possibly Boone that I can remember. There may be others. PV played Volunteer, North and Seymore. Graham has played South and Greeneville IIRC. Appy played Cloudland at least once.
  18. Vero Beach 21 Miami Palmetto 17 10:34 left Great game with a decent amount of talent and speed. 3 - Miami (FL) commits 1 - Free Shoes U™ commit 1 - Illinois commit 1 - SMU commit
  19. Miami Palmetto 17 Vero Beach 14 3:08 3rd
  20. Vero Beach 14 Miami Palmetto 14 6:15 3rd
  21. Vero Beach 14 Miami Palmetto 7 Half Vero's 4 star QB has thrown three 1st half picks
  22. Vero Beach 14 Miami Palmetto 7 11:54 2nd
  23. Miami Palmetto 7 Vero Beach 0 5:11 1st
  24. Greeneville v D-B is definitely the better choice. Science Hill is down this year and this isn't a vintage Maryville team, but the Rebels should still smoke them.
  25. Benjamin 49 Jensen Beach 30 Final
