  1. Really questionable officials conferences that sometimes lasted several minutes. It got ugly as the officials were leaving the field. People are tweeting to wcyb this morning that an official was charged with 2 counts of assault on Ridgeview fans after the game. RV had chances to put the game away but didn’t get it done regardless of officiating.
  2. Ten yards and a cloud of air! Lmao.
  3. Everybody keeps telling me Grayson has a big physical defense. If they make it a physical game they win. If RV can get their skill guys making a few plays then it belongs to the pack. Ridgeview's Achilles heel is that their line is small and not real strong. They have gotten big plays when they needed them several times this year on O and D that bailed them out. I hope to get to watch a little film this evening.
  4. The last two years at Haysi people would go down before big games and drop kids off at the Elementary School early A.M. and go tape a blanket to the seats. I would show up an hour before kickoff, the stands would be empty and I had nowhere to set. Then these people would come walking in, barely making kickoff. I started going to my seat and tearing off the taped down blanket where I sat if there was no one there and folding it up. Pretty sure a few people got hot but nobody ever said anything.
  5. I have calm my oldest son down every time they play that stupid crap. He gets so mad.
  6. There was quite a bit of trash talking that game. It went a little to far. Probably from both sides.
  7. If union finds a passing game....Wow!
  8. Jeff got most of his press for running the ball, but he was an absolute monster on D.
  9. I think Lee can play with Union some. I don't think they can beat them.
  10. I didn't think that the GC kids gave up at all. I don't know what on earth is going on there, but it must be a mess. I'm not sure they had 30 players dressed.
  11. #7 for RV is a good kid. I'm sure Unions 23 is too. I didn't see Unions 23 flip anybody off but In the handshake line instead of saying good game heard him say F ya'll to several of our players. Some RV fans were on the refs pretty hard, I didn't think they did a great job with a couple of things but it got to be too much. Unions D is tough. We're not great or anything but we absolutely couldn't move the ball against them. Don't think Mitchell is the answer at QB although he played it pretty good.
  12. You mean the3rd string QB who has been starting ever since? I think the loss of Hill has been over stated just because he would have been misused like everyone else.
  13. Talent wise this Ridgeview team is not as good as the first one. That first team was victim of the worst offensive play calling I have ever seen. They are improving though. Don't get to high on them just because they beat central. The pack is a work in progress.
  14. Va. High in control most of the game wins big.
  15. Welcome. I lurk more than I post too.
  16. I have to say in three years this is the first time I have really had fun at a Ridgeview game. Year one was 20 draw plays a game and 20 runs up the guards butt against 9 men in the box, all for a total of 30 yards. I had two sons on that team and still now, even watching T.V. anytime a team runs a draw they both start cussing. Last year was just bad from start to finish. It was nice to finally enjoy a game last night.
  17. This is not going to be a "Battle of the unbeaten" type game. Union will have no problem with Ridgeview. Of course the fans are happy to be 3-0, but there are no delusions of a powerhouse here. Plenty of work to do.
  18. If Ridgeview is able to move the ball and keep the Central offense off the field then they have some chance. The pack line has struggled this year. As usual it all comes down to who wins up front.
  19. The longer we're at Ridgeview the more I hate everything about it. Loved the grass at Ralph's house. The worst fields I've ever played on were St. Paul and Hurley. I hate watching games at Ridgeview 163 feet from the field, I could see about as good from my porch at home. Gate City fans back in the day were the worst I ever saw. They seem better now for whatever reason.
  20. It's going to be a tougher year for Hurley. As I recall the schedule is tougher and they lost a lot. They seem to have a quality weight program, so that makes it a little easier on a small school with the reloading during down years, IF the kids are doing their work.
  21. I would have a hard time seeing any of those teams beat JIB this year.
  22. Emory has a several days long camp for high school players. Uva-Wise has a few camps that are a few hours long and later in the day. Look at the schools web site for the info.
  23. Being a tiny little school in a tiny town that could occasionally at least, beat the Powell Valleys of the world. You can say what you want about not winning a state title but there were times when nobody in single A wanted to come to Haysi to play. Not getting into the trash talk, but I'm proud to have been a part of it. Just as proud as those of you with rings. Every program has defining moments. You don't need state championships for that.
