I'm telling you if I was the coach and heard union was sick and I had home field we playing thurs or Fri. Not giving them time to heal. Do the samething for Graham or Ridgeview you got to look out after your team. Could come back to bit the devils in the butt.

Probably didn't wanna catch what we have

Yeah not looking good. I guess we all just wait until Thurs to see what happens now. My guess only is if and it's a big if. Union has more then 8 starters out game don't get  played.

If it's the bug I've known most to have including me it passes quick so hopefully they at least have enough to play

Putting my conspiracy hat on here…kinda not really because I know how high school football coaches are.  How many of those kids with flu actually are positive for COVID?  The flu virtually disappeared the last two years and this year it’s back something fierce.  A coach knows a kid tests positive for COVID….whole different dilemma.  That’s a tough integrity issue for the coaches and staff.
This cost a very good RV team that was mixing it’s young passing game with Trenton Adkins’ rushing,  a chance to play in the playoffs. I liked that RV team against Union, Central or Graham that year.

Its the flu had it last week along with a couple others in the family but its a quick one only lasting about 5 days

Every year people from Central get on the message board and proclaim that. 1. They have this "super group" of athletes coming. 2. They are going to dominate the next season 3. Not just in football but every sport. Same post every year, same results every year!

Yeah but you should really see they're peanut program good stuff coming in 10 years just wait and see lol.

JH (Basketball) & TT (Football) both played at uva wise. TT was on the football team at VT for one semester i believe

Yeah Turner wasn't at tech long but pretty sure he played at Eastern Kentucky to end his career

1 of them is playing Union in round 2. If I'm Graham or Ridgeview, I would want to avoid that, even if it meant traveling for game 3 in the region finals. Obviously, you play to win and neither Graham or RV is going to tank it in order to be the 2 seed, but if I'm a Graham fan and I finish 2nd, I would be happier avoiding Union in round 2 and traveling to RV for the Region title instead of playing Union in round 2 at home and then playing RV at home. Just my thoughts on it and they apply to Ridgeview also.

I write this because come playoff time, I believe Union is the 1 team in the region that will be very close to RV and Grahams level, so if I'm Graham or RV, I would rather play 1 of those 2 opponents instead of playing both (2 out of 2 opponents). It's the 1 seed that will likely host Union in round 2. All I'm saying is...careful what you wish for.

I can see Union losing game 1 honestly.  5 freshman getting significant playing time seems like a disastrous recipe for the playoffs.  3 of them in the secondary so a passing team will pick them apart.  The future looks good but not this season

If it’s a forfeit, rider points will be given. If it’s listed as a cancel, no rider points is my understanding. At the end of the day, teams will have to play every game like it’s the championship regardless of the location. At this point, it stinks for teams like Graham but it is what it is.

Even if Ridgeview is the 1 seed Graham or Ridgeview may lose before playing anyways but I don't see anyone beating either before they play

The kicker is that Auburn bailing and not being forced to forfeit affects teams like Graham who have been top of PP all season only to be outpointed because of rider points that would have come from GW & Galax beating them. There needs to be consequences for this not necessarily punishment. It’s setting a bad precedent and other teams reap negative consequences when they shouldn’t because of these schools. Just my opinion…makes me a huge Bluefield fan this Friday!

Thought I seen a post where Ridgeview has been affected by forfeits also so it may even out.  Ridgeview fans would know more than me on this subject though

Union has been way too inconsistent this year to predict anything about this game. All I can do is hope for a win, 1 point or 20 points, doesn't matter.

Playing at the Park has to be worth a few points, I hope.

Home field hasn't been that great last couple years imo.  I'm seeing less and less people each week and now with the weather cooling it'll only get smaller.  Guess we got spoiled with the teams in the mid to late teens

So roughly 200 total yards Central vs a lil over 400 for Union.  Just from watching i thought that would be lopsided

Union drove ball all night and would get a couple holding penalties every time and kill the drive.  And yeah Central didn't really have to get many yards Union was doing that for them

    Offense Radford

    Defense Graham

    Coach Gate City

Stadium  Union, but the one they don't play on at Riggs. but not torn down yet, so I'm picking it

Atmosphere Giles, still my favorite regardless of record

Damn I thought I'd be only person picking Riggs lol

  12. offense - Ridgeview

    Defense - Graham

    Coach - Gate City

Stadium -  Riggs I know games aren't there anymore but its still there

    Atmosphere - Union

I'm sure Radford has best offense but just picked teams I've seen and places I've been

Off the top of my head and with some of the years missing, because it's been a day or two since I was at the game. They're also in no particular order...

1968 - Gate City at Appy. I stood with my dad and brother up next to the gym trying to watch because of the crowd. We had to park on the side of the road a mile or so towards Blackwood. The game ended in a 6-6 tie.

1969 - Appy 12 Gate City 0 at Gate City

1969 - Gate City 30 PV 24 at Gate City. A frantic PV 4th quarter rally comes up short

1973 - Madison Co 23  Clintwood 22 in the state title game at Bullitt Park, with the aid of a highly questionable interference call or non-call IIRC.

1982 - JJ Kelly 19 Purry/Parry McCluer 14 as Kelly hits a TD pass in the closing moments.

1985 - PV 28 Lunenburg 27 @ Bullitt Park. PV stops a Charger 2 point PAT with around a minute to go. When asked by reporters why they didn't kick to tie, Chippie Chappel said something to the effect of "they 4 and 5 yarded us to death all day. I didn't see us winning a series of 10 yard scrimmages against them".

1988 - Jonesville 21 Strasburg 20 at Bullitt Park. The stunned look on the faces of the Strasburg fans standing at the fence next to me was priceless. The thought Jonesville was a joke, in spite of what I told them before the game.

1981 - Clintwood 8 PV 7 at Clintwood. Clintwood gets a safety on the last play of the game for the win.

1982 - PV 14  Madison Co 13 at Western Albamarle. PV survives a last second chip shot FG attempt. To be fair to the MC kicker, the nose of the football was almost on the goal line and he had a terrible angle.

1989 - Robbie Duncan to Ricky Webb in the corner of the end zone as PV roars down the field in the closing minute to beat Lunenburg again.

1970 - Gate City 16 Dublin 8 at GC in the 1st round. It would be the closest game GC would have that year.

    1994 - PV 34 Lebanon 33  at Lebanon

1997 - PV 20 Appy 14 at Bullitt Park. Truly a shame either had to lose, and IIRC, Gate City and Graham went on to win their state titles as well.

2006?  Riverheads 21  JI Burton 20 at JMU. A terrible unsportsmanlike conduct call may have cost Burton a state title.

2017 - Appomattox 24  Union 21 at Bullitt Park. Union's special teams cost them this one.

2010 thru today. Just about any given Union v Richlands game with several bizarre, heart stopping endings.

2012 - Elizabethton 41  Sullivan North 38 at Betsy. This was the 3rd round of the playoffs and it was a valiant effort by Robbie Norris and his Raiders in a game that IIRC went 3 OT.

2009? Gile Co 21  Greeneville 14 in the TSSAA 4A title game. Future Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace throws a game winning 80 yard TD with 3 minutes to go on a cold, windy day in Cookville.

2011? Sevier Co 35  Dobyns Bennett 28 in the 2nd round. D-B races out to a 28-0 halftime lead and loses 35-28.

2010? Daytona Beach Mainland 28  Deland 21 Both came in at 9-0 and there was something like 15 total players in this one who went on to play at the FBS level.

2012? New Smyrna Beach 24  Daytona Beach Mainland 21 at NSB. The Cudas drive down the field and throw a 30+ yard game winning TD with maybe 5 seconds left.

2021 - Cocoa 42  Vero Beach 41 at Vero in 2 OT. The Tigers for two and get the win.

2021 - Cocoa 56  Treasure Coast 55 at Cocoa in 4 OT. Just like with Vero, Cocoa wins it with a 2 point conversion.

2021 - Cocoa 20 Rockledge 14 at Rockledge. It was like a vintage Appy - PV game with a huge crowd and rivals that are located less than 5 miles apart.

2012 - Apopka 53  Cypress Bay 50 at the Citrus Bowl in the Class 8A title game. I got whiplash watching these two go back and forth.

I'd love to see film of the 68 Appy GC game.  Heard they're was around 12k at the game and of course would've loved to see the Stonega Stallion play
