  1. Its always nice when these young people go out into the community and make a positive difference in peoples day. Kudos to these young men and women.

  3. If the Bears can limit the turnovers and hopefully they have gotten healthy. And by healthy I mean hydrated and get some injuries healed up they could bounce back this week. It's hard to think Turner wouldn't have them ready. On the other side of the coin the Trojans have been getting better each week. It seems they believe now. They have lost a few close ones. Hung in some games with some really good teams. I'm not saying this is a toss up but who wants it more.
  4. Its that time of year. Last games of the season and being #8 in the rankings pretty important to teams just on the outside looking in. Central has a lot to play for in this one. Grundy is safely in the 1A playoffs. If your not in, you want in and #8 is good enough regardless if you have to play the #1 Seed. At least you are in.
  5. The Generals come to Falcon Field to take on the Falcon on their senior night. Who you got?
  6. 1. Bluefield 2. Pulaski 3. Graham 4. Abingdon 5. Chilhowie 6. Ridgeview 7. Grayson Co. 8. Radford 9. Galax 10. Union.
  7. I think what they are getting at is that the last year Coach Colobro and Amburgey were at Abingdon there was quite a bit of disagreement between Reed and the staff. Reed brought in Colobro and once there was success he wanted total control. Not allowing the OC and DC to do their jobs. Majority of the staff left and that's why the staff looked so different last year. Numerous players didn't play last year because of the head coach. Many of those returned this year to play for Amburgey. You do the math Far as I'm concerned. GC can hire whoever they want. If they feel he's their answer. Good for them. Abingdon has a coach players go the extra mile for. Fans love what he is doing for the program and community and I am good with that.
  8. I certainly hope this was sarcasm. It definitely isn't credit to Reed. If he had still been here there would've only been about 30 kids out for football and their record would've been abysmal. More than likely they would have been 2-6 at this point hoping to beat Lee and possibly be the 8 seed if they were lucky. The credit here goes to Coach Amburgey. He has a staff and players who would run through a wall for him. From day one he has empowered his assistants, players, senior leadership, even down to the equipment managers and trainers. He has embraced/energized the school and the fan base like I haven't seen since he and Coach Colobro coached at Abingdon. I was shocked this past summer to see how many kids came back to football when he was announced as the head coach. It went from 30 some to 70 some in no time. There is a reason for that. Keep in mind, he knows nobody was/is giving them a shot at anything. He's OK with that. He just uses it to fire up his players. He is fine being the underdog. His players love him and the thing that gets said most is they are having fun. Not just on Friday nights but fun practicing, fun doing team activities, fun watching and breaking down film. So just to be clear. The only thing true in the quote is Yes "Abingdon is big and strong" and "short time"
  9. RC. Their D will be to much for Springs to handle
  10. Finally I can say it. Keep sleeping on Abingdon. You'll get your feelings hurt. The only thing that the Falcons have done week in and week out has made believers out of people. So keep doubting them. This is a team that is peaking at the best time of the year.

  12. Its been awhile since I've seen a game at the Park during or after a rain event. I'm not entirely sure how well that thing drains. It is right next to Powell River so it has to be in the flood basin.
  13. On another note: Abingdon and Union will still be in the rain and mud at Bullit Park on Friday. Those that are willing to brave the elements can come on out.
  14. When you say 2A are we talking in Region D or Region A,B,C, and D?
  15. I don't always agree with UVA, but when I do. THIS^^^^^^^^ Well said UVA. No truer words were ever spoken.
  16. I don’t think it would make too much difference. AHS rushed 256 and passed for 174 last week. So it may be a low scoring ground and pound game. This isn’t the same Falcons Amburgey coached a few years ago where they wanted to air it out 85% of the time. They are more balanced. Likewise not the same Bears team from when Mitchell was there. They appear to rely more on their run game and throw less.

  19. Prayers for his friends, family and community. This is awful and you are right Ryan, Bullying is never OK and it is senseless.

  22. Okay. Can we stop with the enrollment excuse that is being brought up. Not to long ago comments were being thrown around about Bluefield playing Greenville. Who would literally wipe the field with Bluefield Are they good. Yes. Are they unbeatable like was once thought. No. Lord Bot proved that. If if you play physical with them and control the line of scrimmage. Limited number of snaps. Keep their playmakers from being able to hurt you. You can slay Goliath. That my friends is a pretty tall task.
  23. They’re a 3A school. But to be in Roanoke Valley area. Probably one of the smaller 3A. Maybe the size of Abingdon. Possibly a little bigger.
  24. Yep. Those vanilla ones are bad. Chocolate is the only way to go
