Yeah, I think when Lancaster came to UVa-Wise to play Eastside last season, I think their fans told me it was roughly a 7-8 hour trip one way....

I knew about the VHSL having not only the quarterfinals at the super sites this year, but also the semifinals... HOWEVER, I did NOT know that higher seeds do NOT get to play at their closest super site. That's ridiculous. So, basically if Gate City boys were to somehow make it to 2A West region finals, or say if Ridgeview girls repeat as 2A West region champs... we'd have to go to JMU to play quarters and semis instead of Virginia High? Possibly making two trips to Harrisonburg in a three day stretch? That's flat out wrong if you ask me.

A couple of questions... it was only a few years ago that Eastern Montgomery made it to the semis wasn't it? They must've had one good season and then back to mediocrity I guess? Also, in 2011, didn't Clintwood play Grayson County that year and get obliterated? Did Galax play Grayson County that year also? Also, Rebel_Yell... playing Pike Central is the equivalent of Parry McCluer playing a winless 3A Rockbridge County. It's not going to raise any eyebrows. Pikeville is the team in that town.

Anytime I travel and have to travel through the Salem-Roanoke corridor, I usually leave at least two hours early. I rarely go through that area and there isn't an accident somewhere. Also, if you have an Android smartphone, I highly recommend using Google Maps for GPS navigation. Google Maps is very quick to notify you of delays on your route and altering your course for a quicker arrival time, unlike your standard Garmin GPS.

Well, everyone on here should know by now what I (and the majority of everyone else in Dickenson County) think is wrong with the football team. Basketball, they lost both Hunter Sutherland (arguably the best pure shooter in the district) and Will Ratliff (big 6'8" guy in the middle) to graduation. I honestly haven't seen them yet to know what they DO have this year, and probably won't get to see them much. I just know a 68-64 win over Council is not too promising. The girls should still be OK. I might have exaggerated that part of the statement above just a little. Probably not a region contender this year, but probably a solid 4th place team in the Mountain.

I made the trip up for the first meeting this year. Guess I will be there for round 2 as well. I was going to watch Hurley this week if they had won, but they didn't. I am taking Friday off. May go see Mercer Mall for awhile Friday, since I haven't been there in years, and assure myself of getting there by 5:30 at the latest.

I don't know what it is, but every single time I go up 81 through that Salem corridor, there are always wrecks right there in that area. Probably because the speed limit through there is 50 I think and people always want to drive 70.
