Kentucky played theirs on Saturday and Sunday. And you wouldn't believe how many tweets I see on my timeline of people in SWVA who want to see teams like Oscar Smith, Ocean Lakes, Staunton River and more play... but they're not going to go to Williamsburg on the same day that they can go to Salem to watch the 1A and 2A finals.

Nah... all six at one site over two days.

Sort of reminds me of two years ago... we beat Galax on that two point conversion in the quarterfinals and kinda just rode that high all week sorta figuring we probably weren't going to beat Essex, just kept reliving those final few seconds in Sandlick against Galax.

Just remember this... odd numbered routes are north-south. Even numbered routes are east-west. Lol

Hoping you guys can make a run at the Arby's this year. It's time for a SWVA team other than Council to get on the winners side of the bracket after round 1.

Lol. What about Buckingham? They're even further east I think. And next year, I think Nelson County joins that division as well. Although next year, it will be four regions instead of two.

It's still that way... as long as you don't exit the stadium between games, you don't have to pay for the second game. Two games for $10 is not bad.

Can you watch them on demand or only live? Is it free? Also, didn't think about it till now, but what is VMI's stadium like?

JMU edit: University of Richmond has a nice stadium with turf as well. (been watching both JMU and UR in the FCS playoffs) Richmond is not centrally located, but is an option.

If there are no wrecks past that 118 exit to Salem, or in the city of Salem, you should make it no problem... if there are, you're screwed blued and tattooed.

I posed this question on Twitter on Saturday and didn't get much of a response, so... Why doesn't Virginia play all six title games at one location like Tennessee and Kentucky? The reason I ask this is because, no disrespect intended to Blue Tornado nation, but both games in Salem Saturday will in all likelihood be decided before halftime, which makes the decision for me to go a struggle. Especially with the forecast giving a high of 32 for Saturday at last check. I would love the opportunity to see 3A-6A title games one day... 3A and 4A was going to be my option this year before the VHSL became all liberal and moved the games from Lynchburg. 5A and 6A are no longer in Charlottesville either. I would be very willing to travel, even if it meant to the tidewater region, if all six games were in one location over two days like Tennessee and Kentucky. What does everyone else think of this?

I stopped at Creek Bottom but didn't have time to eat... just bought some beer to take home. Seemed like a nice place to eat though.

So, the 2A west region tournament is also at JMU this season? I was thinking it was just the 2A quarters and semis.

Yeah, I think when Lancaster came to UVa-Wise to play Eastside last season, I think their fans told me it was roughly a 7-8 hour trip one way....

I knew about the VHSL having not only the quarterfinals at the super sites this year, but also the semifinals... HOWEVER, I did NOT know that higher seeds do NOT get to play at their closest super site. That's ridiculous. So, basically if Gate City boys were to somehow make it to 2A West region finals, or say if Ridgeview girls repeat as 2A West region champs... we'd have to go to JMU to play quarters and semis instead of Virginia High? Possibly making two trips to Harrisonburg in a three day stretch? That's flat out wrong if you ask me.

A couple of questions... it was only a few years ago that Eastern Montgomery made it to the semis wasn't it? They must've had one good season and then back to mediocrity I guess? Also, in 2011, didn't Clintwood play Grayson County that year and get obliterated? Did Galax play Grayson County that year also? Also, Rebel_Yell... playing Pike Central is the equivalent of Parry McCluer playing a winless 3A Rockbridge County. It's not going to raise any eyebrows. Pikeville is the team in that town.
