  1. Unofficial 3A West matchups as I have them: #1 Rustburg vs. #16 Cave Spring #2 Brookville vs. #15 Tunstall #3 Abingdon vs. #14 Northside #4 Staunton River vs. #13 Western Albemarle #5 Magna Vista vs. #12 Waynesboro #6 Heritage vs. #11 Hidden Valley #7 Lord Botetourt vs. #10 Blacksburg #8 Spotswood vs. #9 Turner Ashby If I have these correct, if Abingdon gets through Northside, then they would play winner of Heritage and Hidden Valley the following week in Abingdon.
  2. I have Brookville and Rustburg tied at 28.0 even. I am assuming Rustburg gets the #1 seed based on head to head (Rustburg defeated Brookville). I have Abingdon falling .1 point short at 27.9
  3. I'm working on the 3A West points now... We all know how reliable MaxPreps can be at times, but on Northside's page, they have @Abingdon on 11/11 at 7:30 p.m.
  4. If noone else wants to take a stab at 3A, I will figure up those points here in a few. Since I am going to be going to the Abingdon games for the next couple of weeks, I guess I should pique my interest and see who the Falcons will be playing. :)
  5. Hope Narrows comes into Norton and smacks crybaby Jimbo in the mouth.
  6. My prediction: Gate City 24, Glenvar 22.
  7. I deleted the image... guess noone like the head exploding gimmick around here.
  8. So, now you're saying Union will be the #4 seed and Richlands the #5 seed and the game would be at Bullitt Park?
  9. Sorry VHSL Helper, this is one I have to agree with ghos88t on. Grundy's schedule is pretty weak man. Grundy would be a borderline great to elite team if they could just defend the pass.
  10. My buddy from Coeburn was convinced that Apomattox was going to win the game too, even after me trying to convince him early in the season that Dan River and Amherst could potentially beat them. Dan River came and went, and he still was on the Appomattox train until he read an article on Amherst this week and now he's turned a swift 180 and thinks Amherst will win now.
  11. Well fudge. Not the news I wanted to hear as a Ridgeview fan.
  12. Abingdon also gets 4 points this year that they didn't get last year because of getting 2 points for playing a non district 2A team this year, instead of the 1 point that they got for playing them last year. 4 extra points isn't much, but it makes a little bit of a difference, I'm sure.
  13. I would say, better get to Fuller Field early, but this isn't Haysi/Honaker anymore, it's Ridgeview/Honaker. Lol.
  14. Not happening. Grundy can't defend the deep pass. Didn't last year on Rose Ridge, didn't this year next to the 'Y'. Exactly. Ridgeview went through the gauntlet of the Mountain and had tough non conference games against Paintsville and Marion. The difference showed on the field last week.
  15. Sure, seeds can shuffle this final week, but the top 14 in 2A West are safe, leaving two open spots. The 15 will go to the winner of Tazewell/Lebanon and the 16 could go to either James River, Virginia High, Wise Central, Gretna or Ridgeview. The top 15 are pretty safe in 1A West with one open spot left. That spot should be between Bland and Honaker. Honaker would steal it with a win over Ridgeview and a Bland loss.
  16. From a quick glance at my spreadsheet, I think if Abingdon wins, they stay where they are, possibly move to second. Brookville plays 2-7 Jefferson Forest, so that could drop them from #1 to 2 or 3 if Rustburg and Abingdon both win.
  17. A special boxing fight (Gatti/Ward, Corrales/Castillo) is certainly more enthralling than a special MMA fight, however, it's VERY rare now that you get the all out wars in boxing like the two I just mentioned. MMA typically has several fights a year that leave your jaw dropping.
  18. I stand with you on this subject. The average is the final number that counts.
  19. Heard through my director at work that Battle's QB tore his ACL last week...
  20. Nah not really... it's quite simple for both of them. Tazewell beats Lebanon and they're in, cut and dry. Virginia High wins and James River loses and the Bearcats go dancing.
  21. Lebanon was Region C in the early to mid 90's. Haysi played them in the state semis in 1991 or 1992...
  22. That is a funny story. Also a funny story and very true, is my 8 year old daughter got into the John Battle/Ridgeview game for free a few weeks ago, because she had her Kindle with her and was playing games on it and the guy taking money at the gate said, "Well, she ain't gonna be watching no game... go on in with your daddy sweetheart."
