  1. Gate City 8/14 Scrimmage @ TN High 8/22 Jamboree @ Lebanon
  2. I bet Goforth saw everything going down on social media last night and saved face by changing his story when interviewed today. If he told the family what WJHL and WCYB reports he said then why would he temporarily deactivate his Twitter account? I believe he banned Chris from everything, then saved face today through the media after he realized the people in BSG were gonna go after him and his job was in jeopardy. I’m just proud of the people sticking up for Chris and even the people not from BSG.
  3. Not sure what’s going on, but I read the petition page on Twitter for the info I’ve collected. Chris is a diehard and loved his Vikings and now his Bears. I’m not sure if there was a sporting event I have attended or played in that was GC vs PV/Union that he wasn’t at. Something is fishy here.
  4. Hate Adidas, hated the font, hated the thick material, hate the coach who bought them. If you were able to lay hands on them you’d know what I mean about thick. Not sure anyone was a fan of them. Couldn’t have been comfortable to wear in the hot of the season.
  5. Yup new domes. Will have each players number on the left side of the helmet. Coach Jeremy wanted to mix it up. I have only seen 3 different styles in my lifetime, played in 2 of them. These are pretty wicked. I like the change.
  6. 1. It’s not “mid-summer” summer is a young 7 days old. 2. A little research research you would have know that Bermuda grass will have established shallow root growth in 2 weeks and deep root growth in 6 weeks. Bermuda is a warm weather grass. Springs around here risk the chance of a freeze and then your Bermuda can really be shot. I’m sure the grass experts working on the field know way more what they are doing than what we have to say. Plus they took the crown out of the field. Good improvement to go along with the new sod.
  7. The first schedule I posted had 2 games flipped. This one is correct. Aug. 14 - Scrimmage @ TN High (Wed) Aug. 15 - Media Day - 4pm (Thurs) Aug. 22 - Jamboree @ Lebanon Aug. 30 - @ Richlands Sept 6 - Abingdon Sept. 13 - Sullivan South (TN) Sept. 20 - @ Ridgeview Sept. 27 - @ Union Oct. 4 - @ George Wythe Oct. 11 - Marion Oct. 18 - Lee Oct. 25 - @ John Battle Nov. 1 - Central Nov. 8 - OPEN
  8. Gate City will scrimmage TN High on August 14th (Wed) and play in the Lebanon Jamboree on August 22nd.
  9. Did I not share this? I may have forgotten. My bad. But yes, it’s been official for a little while now. Hunter Jones is also on the staff. Another Blue Devil on the sideline. He was with Jeremy at RC last year.
  10. Gate City’s Adam McClelland’s 35 yard game winning field goal (wounded duck) vs Jefferson Forest in the 1997 semifinals. Still gives me chills to watch it with the news coverage under the goal post. Will Hubbard’s game ending interception in 2003 vs Radford in the semifinals is another great one. Radford was driving late and had the ball around the GC 40. Radford’s QB scrambled out and then back to the middle of the field and threw the ball right to Hubbard. GC ran out the clock and claimed a 28-21 victory. Minds well add Logan Byrd drilling 40+ yard field goals in the 2010 semifinals at Radford in the pouring snow. After being put on “no contact, just kicking” by his doctor because of his shoulder saved potentially a momentum swing by running down a Radford player from about 80 yards inside the 5 after GC had a bad snap on a FG attempt and then held Radford to 3pts. Ended up being huge for GC. Funny how those moments happened in the semifinals. But fortunately there are plenty more huge plays in GC history. Those 3 stick out in my mind and are probably 3 of my favorites from my lifetime. Some of the old timers would probably add to the list. Like Phil Rogers taking the opening kickoff to the house in the 1970 state championship game vs James Monroe.
  11. I’m just going to support and cheer them on and hopefully we have a winning season. I probably won’t make any predictions. I just want the kids and coaches to work hard to turn things around. If I see improvement from the past few years I’ll chalk it up as a winning season if the record doesn’t reflect it. We have a lot to fix. Just going to stay positive. Legion Field is getting a new scoreboard and things are being done to get the kids excited. So I hope it all pays off.
  12. I was told tonight that this is right. Aug. 30 - @ Richlands Sept 6 - Abingdon Sept. 13 - Sullivan South (TN) Sept. 20 - @ Ridgeview Sept. 27 - Lee High Oct. 4 - @ George Wythe Oct. 11 - Marion (HC) Oct. 18 - @ Union Oct. 25 - @ John Battle Nov. 1 - Wise Central Nov. 8 - OPEN
  13. Doors open at 5pm. All pre sold tickets are gone. 1,500 tickets will be sold at the door.
  14. You're welcome. Heard Pulaski Co HS gym holds 3,500, but the VHSL says it holds 3,000. I expect a packed house Tuesday. Go Big Blue!
  15. According to Brent Roberts, tickets will also be sold at the door.
  16. I would assume they would sell at the door. But I know a lot are buying online.
  17. Tuesday 3/5 at Pulaski Co HS. Tip at 7pm.
  18. GC played Martinsville game and still found a way. Go Big Blue!
  19. I disagree. When Zac got hurt, the team could have easily folded. Instead "role players" became scorers. If those "role players" continue to take shots and contribute, the sky is the limit. I think the team became better after the Ervin injury, now if they can put that together with Zac like they did during the 4th qtr at Graham, we can repeat.
  20. Any given night. GC must show up and play their game. The 4th quarter vs Graham showed glimpses of what this team can be. We finally clicked with Zac being back and he started feeling his shot. Hopefully the 6 days off doesn’t kill it. GC must worry about GC and play their game and let the chips fall where they fall. Martinsville looks long and athletic, GC must play good defense and prevent fast breaks while limiting #3 and #35. Go Big Blue!
