The playoffs should be the district champs plus top 2 in power points. 2 games and you have a regional champ. Union would have not won the region last year but that’s just fine . That reduces injuries and the overall fatigue of the players. We have long rewarded everyone with a trophy, but don’t we want the best vs best . The state championship has in the past had some 5 and 5 teams win state (Janesville, Appalachia, Blacksburg) but I still believe that only the best teams should be in the playoffs.

At the end of the day, you will face the best teams sooner or later either 2nd or 3rd round so it a matter of when. Everyone’s goal is winning state , and if you go out first second or third round it doesn’t matter because you wasn’t good enough to go to state if you lost.

Work work work, Bunch could use some rest , he took some big hits Friday. Starting line should play whole game as well as defense. Anderson should get some reps with starters in and get him ready if he is needed and he adds a different wrinkle as a runner

The pick six thrown by Bunch was off target, but I don’t think Jenkins seen the ball until it was past him. Bunch was cold and wet and anyone who has a kid that is 6’5” or taller can tell you their hands and feet are like death cold, not an excuse just kinda the facts of last nights game. TURNOVERS, two = two scores, and the defense just being out on the field too long.Yeah UNION got pushed off the line but when you are on the field twice as much as the offense you get scored on.UNION held the FALCONS to 3 points the second half, and maybe the FALCONS just went into the "hold onto the ball mode" and could have scored more,but the defense seemed to play better to me.LOMAX played hard also but just didnt get that extra block here or there to break one

GRAHAMS line wasnt the problem,it was the d-backs that failed to support the line,they did not want anything to do with UNIONS running game,except BRADSHAW.UNION and GRAHAM seeing each other is a long shot, because CENTRAL can beat anyone they play ,so if it works out the way I think the GMEN will face CENTRAL before UNION,

Turnovers and the kicking game will have a lot to say about who wins this game,UNION had 4 turnovers against CENTRAL ,and when UNION muffed the pun the kids just gave up. The SENIORS have to step up and be the leaders they are supposed to be, short quick passes, and some push up front from the line on both sides of the ball

WET weather for Friday and Sat., I really dont know if that helps UNION or not.The holding calls has to stop,the wide outs are the ones holding and i can say they are legit calls .Geeez ,guys all you have to do is get your body between the ball and the defense , you dont have to hold. Run your pattern down the field every play and see if your man is cheating up and then go play action and throw.The wind and heavy rain on a grass field will limit some of what each team does but, that three man front that UNION runs will give the Q B lanes to run in ,so it may be a very long night.......oh well there is still MELLO MUSHROOM to eat at on the way back

All they have to do is…..move up and prove it, or schedule Appomattox it’s only 1.5 hours away and closer than Tazwell or put Graham on it , put some money where that mouth is

Simple truth , the defense that Union runs is terrible, it is designed for three stud lineman and LBs who are very athletic, you cannot run that D with a nose tackle who weighs 170lbs ( Satterfield) . Three down and wide gaps make it impossible to cover all the running lanes, and if the QB takes off( Graham) he can run all night. At least send a LB every now and then

I spoke to the AD at Richlands last night, it’s the same everywhere, kids don’t want to play for whatever reason. Call it what you want but I call it lazy, too sorry to sit down if their tails were on fire. More talented kids walking the hallway than playing

I had a RIDGEVEIW fan talk to me the whole game, he said he didnt know if it was the kids or coaches but they always start out slow.RV just did'nt have the ball the 1st half at UNION and when they did, they had poor field position. I can see the game going both ways,but the WOLFPACKS D will stop the run and win by two TD's

MADDEN only works on your game system, not in real life,JONES is coaching at the new WESTRIDGE HS in KINGSPORT,and NICK C is at D B, so I don't know who could take over.TRAVIS was a really good d-player also , so he might have to have more input into the defense we run. I need to ask a question just to see if anyone knows the answer. Union used Satterfeild to play nose tackle against Central, who has a huge line , why would you do this with a running back????That alone gave Central 4-5 yards every time they ran up the middle. Union better rethink that because Richlands QB is getting better at running up the middle

I spoke to a UNION guy today, he said that it was cross bracket and it would be 1 mnt vs 4 swd ,2mnt vs 3swd, 1swd vs 4 mnt,2swd vs 3mnt with the higher seat getting a home game.If 2 teams are tied say 1st(UNION,RIDGEVIEW)the power points would decide who recieved the number 1 seed.Second round would be highest winner vs lowest winner. The way it was explained to me was that each district would go 1,2,3,4 and not 1-8 with both districts being lumped TOGATHER for rankings
