Talk about home cooking but Richlands gets a phantom pass interference penalty on 3rd and long that keeps Graham alive and ends up scoring. Their next series Graham's receiver pushes off right in front of ref but no call. Rose colored glasses i guess. I do hate that Lester got ejected. Wanted to see him play. Right call or not it looked to me shoulder to the helmet.
Not sure I'd agree with SWD being the weakest ever. Richlands is always in the mix, Graham is back to their old ways and who knows what Tazewell could've done this year without the injuries. Just for comparison look at the Mountain 7 excluding Abingdon since theyre 3A. You have 2 top teams. Union and Ridgeview, and Graham and Richlands. After that both districts have a significant falloff. Yeh Wise is 4-2 but they beat the easy teams and got whipped by the good teams so how good are they really? They barely beat Va High. Va High is winless, Lee is winless. Battle has only won one game with a loss to a very down Marion team. Lebanon is winless and GC has 2 wins. In no way am i saying SWD is better than Mountain 7 just using it for comparison. They look very similar in my opinion. So if you say this the weakest the SWD has been for a while could you not say the same about the Mountain 7?
I agree. Wouldve loved to seen Tazewell healthy. Feel bad for the kids. Hopefully theyre not seniors and will be back next year. They may get a home game in the playoffs. Would like to see them win one. Or heck maybe even two.
Maybe they want to get him in more space with the spread. Union just has a good defense. Dont think it wouldve mattered. Union has always been a hard nosed team.
Would make a good D1 FB or TE in my opinion. Heck maybe even LB. Best player ive seen the past 2 years. Schools gonna regret not getting this guy. You know hes not going to VT ot VA with their SWVA hatred. I heard back in 2010 when Richlands had Lowe at DE. Cant remember his first name but great player. Not sure if this story is true or not but i heard he went to a VT camp and they told him or his parents they could find a better player off the streets in the 757. Dont really see a school telling a kid that but you never know.
I said at the beginning of the year Richlands has the potential to be a good team. Theyre getting there. Mance is opening up the playbook more for Simmons. Again loved some of the play calling tonight. Finally using some play action. That jet sweep play action even faked me out.
That's interesting. I also have a rule question thats always perplexed me. Why is it if a receiver toe drags near the sideline he is considered inbounds. But if his back is to the sideline and lands inbounds with his toes first then his heel is out of bounds its incomplete. Always thought they should change this.

Well the coach definitely doesn't care. With all their injuries why would you risk another injury when the games out of hand? Tazewell is a playoff team. Just saying if it was me i wouldn't have them playing in the 4th when its 41-0. I know their numbers arent like Richlands but i saw at least 15 other players in uniform on the sideline that could've used some experience.
Why on earth does Tazewell's coach still have all his starters in in the 4th qrt and it 41-0? So he can say they scored on a mix of 2nd, 3rd string and JV? No excuse for that.
If Richlands could beat Graham that would be huge. Then If they both win out and finish 7-3 i think Richlands gets that 3 spot with the tougher schedule. That GC loss really hurt them.
Then i may stand corrected. I thought Fort was still 1A. They just moved up recently though i think. Radford as well. Yeh but 2016 had 4 1A schools you're correct. But i still dont understand the post as i cant remember Richlands playing a 1A team in many years.
Im not sure how the train horn at Union has affected other teams but it did cause 3 false starts in the first 2 series against Richlands. I think it does give a defensive advantage cuz defense looks at the ball. Offensive lineman listens for count. And who's to say that Union defensive players weren't shouting out the cadence during train horn? They could've easily done it with that horn and refs would not be able to hear over the horn. Not saying Richlands lost due to the horn but they lost some momentum there and football is a game of momentum.
Graham fans said they were ok with it but that wasnt the train horn. I read it was just an air horn. Big difference. And I didn't read anywhere that they were blowing it during the cadence.
Not sure if the guy is still blowing it during the snap but if so im pretty sure this will not be allowed in the playoffs. Its clearly done to try to gain an advantage. May not have that advantage in the playoffs. So why get them used to something they wont have when it really matters?
Really? Whens the last time Richlands had a 1A team on their schedule? This coming from a fan of a team that has at least a couple 1A teams on the schedule every year. This post makes no sense.
I think it should be a good game. First drive Abingdon drove down the field with ease and took 9 mins off the clock with 4 and 5 yard runs. Seems like their big line ran out of gas toward the end and Richlands was getting in the backfield pretty easily. See it being close at the half and Union pulling away at the end. I could see Union getting 250+ on the ground.
