That may be a tough one outside of Dixon for VHS and Taylor at Abingdon. Outside of those two, most of the good pitchers in SWVA are underclassmen.
EDIT: I forgot about Bailey for Union. If I’m not mistaken, he threw well in the FCA tournament at the beginning of the season when Union beat Boone. 
EDIT #2: If the Parker kid at Tazewell is a senior, he throws it pretty well too.
The Tn. side is loaded with hitters! 
EDIT #3: Jeez, I forgot Moore at JSB as well.
 

We are doing our FCA Va -Tenn All Star Senior Baseball game at Tenn High , June 11th.. need some strong pitching versus Tenn!

I’m not touching the “who’s the best seniors” for the Bearcats with a 10 foot pole, but I will echo @Falcon Mania and say Tanner Barrs is the best hitter in SWVA and even if you add in NETN, he’s second only behind Gavin Cross for Tn. High. TJ Taylor is also a really, really good baseball player that can play multiple positions, very well.
Trey Brown and the Cole kid for Richlands are good ball players too. (I think they’re both seniors.) Simmons is a really good player, but I’m not sure what year he is.
Nate Bailey for Union is another good one I’ve seen this year.

Osborne (Marion. Another one I’m not 100% sure of what grade he’s in)
I can’t speak on the Graham kids yet. We haven’t played them, but we do play them twice this week. 

I give Lebanon all the credit in the world.  I have watched Buchanan and Steele grow in the game of baseball since they were 11 years old, playing with Jr. Viking Baseball to Crusaders Baseball, and now to Elite Prime in Atlanta.  Both are fantastic young players with great futures.  As a team, Lebanon has a lot to prove to use the word "DOMINANT and FANTASTIC".  Central is a very young team, and they aren't near as good as they were last year, due to attrition, but they will be playing well probably in the end.  Big Win over Union last night.  
If you have watched the Region 2A baseball season the last few years, it isn't loaded in talent or dominant teams.   Our Region usually can pose well down the road.  Va High has showed consistency in lineup for past few years, which makes them a stronger team.  Not just 1 dominant pitcher.  
 

Lebanon hasn’t played Science Hill or VHS.  1 pitcher doesn’t make a team. They have 2 division 1 sophomores that have committed  and the only team of substance they have truly played is Tennessee High!
Lebanon has played battle 3 times for 8 of their wins and have gotten all they have wanted from them. They have played Grundy, tazewell and central and beat them all in run rule fashion. They are a good team, but I would like to see their record with a VA High schedule!

They are definitely in the running with their ace on the mound. During the FCA tournament they were beat 11-1 and no-hit by Tn. High. This Lebanon team is eerily similar to their team from 3 years ago when they had Will Stamper as their ace. When he pitched they had a chance to beat anyone. They were a little different team when Stamper couldn’t pitch. 
This year’s Lebanon team has shown signs of this. They’ve played Battle 3 times. A dominating win with Buchanan on the mound. 2 close wins in the others.
Im not taking away from them, they have talent, but just like most of last season, they’re a much different team when he’s not pitching.
EDIT: What I meant by last year’s team was in their first matchup against VHS, Buchanan threw a no-no in a 2-0 win. The next game, VHS scores 11 runs in the first inning.

Who has Lebanon played?  Until they play a true quality opponent, how can you say dominate?  They are good with Buchanan on the mound, but until they face a team with a good lineup top to bottom it is hard to say they will dominate.  TN High exposed that!  There isn't a dominant team in 2A to this point!

It’s still a little early to tell about Virginia High.  The Bearcats have yet to actually play a regular season game. So far their schedule has been.....

Game 2) L vs. Licking Valley, OH (FCA) (Blew a 7 run, 7th inning lead)
Game 3) L vs. Robert E. Lee Academy from SC (Mingo Bay Classic - Myrtle Beach)
Game 4) L vs. Whitewater, GA (Mingo Bay Classic)
Game 5) L vs. Dinwiddie, VA (Mingo Bay Classic)
 
The Bearcats could have won all 4 games they have lost and definitely SHOULD have won 3 of those, but they didn’t. They had a very late start to the season, coupled with weather costing them the chance to play Lebanon earlier this week and now Graham has pulled out of tonight’s matchup because they have advanced in the tournament they are playing in. With the forecasted weather looking bad for their next scheduled game against Abingdon, there’s a chance they could enter the 3rd week of April having played only 5 games with none being regular season contests.
It could make for a crazy last month of the season for VHS, but they have returned 7 starters from last year’s team that lost the State Championship game by one run, plus they got back one of their top guys that did not play last year, so we’ll see how things go. 
 
I’ve seen Union twice now and they should be in the mix late in 2A.
Abingdon is off to a good start and they have a lot of young talent, plus a couple of very good seniors.
Lebanon has the region’s top pitcher and can beat anyone when he’s on the mound.

So, Grayson County beat Marion yesterday 32-13.
Yes, you read that right and yes that is a baseball score.

Was told the scrimmage is gonna be played at Va High on Monday March 11th

I know Central and Va High are set to scrimmage this Saturday if the weather will cooperate....but doesn’t look promising 

I’d make my annual prediction but every time I foresee the future on this site, I piss a coach off in one sport or the other (and I’m not talking about VHS coaches lol)😉

VA HIGH lost 2 full time starters, which 1 was as a pitcher from last season.  They return 7 field starters, and entire pitching staff outside of Griffith.  Will be very strong offensively and defensively this season.  With the return of Aaron Rose at catcher, who didn't play last season, the offensive order has speed and power!  Seven of the front line players have 3-4 years starting varsity experience.  Depth will be an issue if there are injuries!

SWD championship is at 1:00 pm
Oak Hill is in town this weekend, so the times are early for Saturday.

I wish him a ton if success, if it is indeed Mr. Akers.  Lord knows that he has had to deal with a ton of negativity.  He is after all a human and is dedicating his time to coach young men.  From an outsider looking in, nobody should have to endure the criticism that this man has endured while trying to coach kids.  If it were me, I would have left a long time ago and focused on the people that matter in my life.

It’s 100% about how much their coach “goes to bat” for them at the meetings. It’s an extremely flawed process, believe me. Especially if the coach is an egomaniacal jackass.
Im not a bitter dad either. My kid has been one of the most decorated football players to come out of VHS in decades.

Yeah, I’m VERY happy about the temperature! I watched some of the practice for the two teams last night. That is, until I could no longer feel my nose, fingers, and toes! Lol

No problem! I hate that both games are tomorrow. I would like to watch this game as well, but I’ll be at UVA-Wise watching my kid in the VHSCA game.
