  2. I was at the top of the stairs. There was a hard foul by a Gate City defender on Baker from Graham. Next thing I know two fans are going crazy at each other and the GC coach was jawing back and forth with a Graham fan. The police kicked one of the fans that were going at each other out of the game.

  3. The best two teams I've seen imo have been the 01 Graham team and the 10 Richlands team. And the ironic thing is that neither team won it all.

The 01 Graham team got Carlock out of the bone they had so much talent. Ahmad didn't even start at RB as a sophomore. And that Richlands was a close second to them in my eyes.

I never had the pleasure to see the beaver team that was mentioned. Just my 2 cents

  4. If I'm Virginia High I run the ball until Graham stops me. I think Graham is better in the back half of their defense than the front 7. I don't think they're weak in the front 7.. but I think their secondary is really talented. Vineyard is a great LB but overall I think the secondary is their strength. Plus up front Virginia High is just BIG. I think their best chance to win this game is to keep the ball out of Allen, Lester, and Cooke's hands. I was impressed with Virginia High's depth at RB and their QB actually reminds me of Ben Meade, Grahams qb last year. Should be a good one Thursday.

  5. V High is super deep and really big up front. Graham is a little more athletic. It's gonna come down to qb play and if taymon can get loose. I will say this though, Grahams depth hurt them some late in the season last year. The kids coming off the field with hands on hips and worn down. It'll be interesting to see this year with the bulk of their more challenging games here at the end of their schedule.

Belong? Belong where? In the VHSL? if so, then you are correct. Neither RIchlands or Tazewell are very good.

A lot of people doubted the dogs, thought Richlands would win by 40 etc. Tazewell played tough against a much larger team that had a 40 more kids than their 21. I think Richlands is better than what you think... and many people thought Tazewell would go 0-10 this year. I see the dogs winning 3, maybe even 4 games. Best of luck to both teams moving forward.

That would be a hard game to choose.

Doesn't sound like it would be... I've not seen GC but I've seen this Tazewell team, and those kids don't quit no matter the circumstance. The dogs have better days ahead of them and just beat a pretty good 1a football team with 21 kids dressed.

  8. I know this is a touchy subject... but it's a big deal. Talk about the differences in teams if no kids ever transferred. Richlands would be different, Graham would be different and Bluefield would be unreal.

Im not complaining about it and I know it's going to happen... but what if it didn't. What would swva and bluefield look like then?

  9. I think Mookie and Truck are too much. It'll be a shootout... but those two are gonna be the difference. Richlands is a very good team but I just don't think they have the athletes to make a play like they've had in past years. With maybe an exception or two... I think Mookie is the best two way player in the area. I see it being a 31-21 or 35-21 Bluefield win.

The only way I see Richlands winning is scoring early and making Bluefield throw the ball.. which I'm not sure they can do.

  10. Richlands in all fairness had an unreal schedule.. and they're record is exactly what it should be. 1-3... but they're better than a 1-3 football team. I know that those kids pound the weight room hard and that it's not a lack of coaching, preparation, etc. They'll be just fine, they'll get back on track and finish out the rest of the season with anywhere from 0 to 2 losses imo.

I will ask this question though... how hard do you think it is for a high school O-Line to go from passing the ball 30+ times a game and not really having a running attack to becoming a balanced or run dominate team? It's a different mind set and different approach. Your first step run blocking is forwards.. and for the Tornadoes I think that this better balanced approach has some adjusting to. They'll be fine and wouldn't surprise me if they even won out.. but thoughts on that?

  11. I think Tazewell can pass on most teams, what they have a problem doing is running the ball and stopping the run. We all know that Tazewells chances of beating Richlands are slim to none.... but if they can win another 2 games this season that would be great for them in future years. I think this week it's going to come down to running the ball enough to keep Hurley honest... and stopping the run. Jordan and Mullins are always a threat to take the ball to the house, but Jamir has to have some kids up in the box.

  12. My hope is that the dogs can stay healthy and score a few times against the beavers. Rome wasn't built in a day.... Tazewell Football sure won't be either. If they can get out of this game healthy and then win 2 of the 3 games later in the season vs. Grundy, Hurley, and Lebanon... 3-7 is a fantastic year for a team with 3 seniors and roughly 20 kids total on the team. Better days are ahead for the Dogs.
