  1. Thank You for another year, this old man greatly appreciates it. Be safe out there
  2. I don't think RV thought Richlands would be much of a challenge, they seemed to come out flat thinking all they had to do was go through the motions. The team that comes into this with their heads in the right place will win in the end. This could come down to ball control. If it had not been for Richlands having 3-15 yard penalties on RV's last drive, the outcome would have had a chance of being different, so RV better come out fired up and ready to play. Congrats to both teams, and I hope they both have a safe outting, but Central should win this one IMO.
  3. This is one of those must see games, but I think Graham has more weapons than Union and should come out on top. I'll stick with the SWD team and go with Graham to win, but don't think it will be a run away by any means. Graham has to show up on defence and stop Union from controlling the clock with 4-downs and a cloud of dust, so to speak. It'll be a hard fought game and best of luck to both.
  4. Richlands vs Ridgeview, Going to UVAWise tomorrow, it's senior day and my grand daughter is a senior there. Been there a couple of times, football not much, but one heck of a band. GO BLUES!!!
  5. Never thought of it that way, but just hope no one get an injury, and I'm sure the coaches for both teams feel the same. Yes momentum can be a ditch to fall into if you pull the starters to soon, agree. Guess I was thinking abolut all the games Richlands won by 4 or more TD's in the Mance years and everyone complained about running up the score.
  6. Don't think it would be 4TD's by any means, not that it couldn't be, but why would RV coach leave the starters in to run up the score and take a chance of injury. Wouldn't it be better to have a 14 point victory and keep starters injury free, rather than a 4TD victory and maybe get a valuavle starter injured? It's playoffs, no need to try to be impressive with the score, win by one point and move on is all that's required.
  7. Tazewell county has three schools in the playoffs and all are playing against combined schools. I wonder if Tazewell county combined and had two schools, Tazewell Co. East consisting of Richlands and half of Tazewell, and Tazewell Co. West consisting of the other half of Tazewell and Graham, how do you guys think they would do?
  8. If and only if, the Bulldawgs score on every pocession then maybe, just maybe, they have a chance for the win. One Richlands fan here who is pulling for the Bulldawgs, oh my did I just say that, yes of course I did.
  9. Rumor is a replacement for Tarter was located last year, just wanted to wait for his son to finish his high school career in his present location before migrating to Richlands, but that's still just a rumor. Time alone will tell the truth in that statement.
  10. Seen some improvement on the Richlands side, but not enough. The results will probably be equal to the regular season game, but it's the playoffs and anything could happen. I'll hope for the upset, but really have my doubts, just being truthful. Still a fan, never give up, never give up, GO BLUES!!!
  11. Richlands has played good at times, but sloppy most of the time. Cannot keep turning the ball over and expect to win. Virginia High has played pretty consistant IMO and should win this game by at least 2-TD's, but it will all come down to the players on the field. I am a true blue fan, but I still don't believe a team that is below 500% deserves to even be in the playoff's, but VHSL makes the rules and even with the worst record Richlands has had in several years, they still have a chance for a first round home game. I hope both teams have all the players healthy, and the game is played with good sportsmanship both on the field and in the stands, and all players are safe. Could be a very interesting game, and the winner will have to put forth a valent effort, lke every time these two meet. Good luck to both teams. GO BLUES!!!
  12. Great probability this is correct, but I'll act like the crazy old man I am and go with a suprising upset Richlands 24, Davy Crockett 21. Yelp I know it's crazy to most, but I'm a Blues fan and always will be. GO B:UES!!!
  13. Thanks, and I hope the play we saw out of Richlands in the second half at Union shows up at the beginning of this game. If that level of play continues, then I think it will be a good game, and like I said before, I haven't seen but a few plays from DC, but they have a history of having a good team so who knows.
  14. Okay everybody, what do you think about this one? I have watched film on DC, but only a few plays. Does anyone know a lot about their team and what chance do the Blues have of winning? From what I saw, very little, I think the Blues have a good chance of another victory.
  15. Must chime in and say I'm proud of the Blues for never quiting in this game. They could have folded after the first half, hung their heads and got on the bus, but they fought hard in the second half against a better opponet and never quit fighting until the end. Union had the better team, and it showed on the field. I take my hat off to both teams and congrats to the way the game was played. Always an exciting game to watch and this one was no different, just a good hard played football game.
  16. IMO both teams respect each other no matter what the record, and this game will be no different. Injuries play a roll in this, and Richlands has gathered themselves and became hungry again, but Union should win by at least 2-td's, yet we all must remember how these two go at each other. This game may come down to the final play as it's done for a number of years, so I'll hold my hopes out for The Blues in an upset. Hope the injured players get better for the playoffs and wish both teams a safe game.
  17. A chang has taken place. Just cannot imagine two on the same board using the same logo, but what do I know. So all is good and we move on. Thanks for reminding me to keep it straight, my oldman memory does fade in and out.
  18. Welcome to the board. Another good subject to talk about to make friends is that good old train horn, or a loud cowbell, and even an inflatable Bulldog. Lol
  19. Arm Chair coaching LOL: Winning formula for both teams from the arm chair--Richlands offense: run ground and pond, 4 yards and a cloud of dust, occasional slant or screen pass. Defence: Blitz one from different D-back position every play, contain QB. Taxewell offense: QB throws deep ball any where down the field, let receviers track it down, occasional run or screen pass. Defense: 2 deep safeties, stack the box, hit the QB every play. Now I know a lot will be upset about this post, but I'm sure everyone on this board does the armchair coaching thing. I hope this turns out to be an old fashion blow for blow game, with the Blues coming out on top and all players safe and respectful. Reminds me of sibling rivilary, brother on brother. Everybody is talking about the field conditions, its football, play in the mud, play in the rain, play in the snow, that's the good old fashion way and to this day the Richlands vs Tazewell Regional championship played on that same field in sloppy snow conditions when Muncy and Rasnic were star players for Tazewell is still remembered as one of the best games between these two.. GO BLUES!!!!!
  20. Hey Ryan, This is the real Blue 72 and it appears that someone is posting under the same logo. I've been on this board since 2017 and the last couple o f post under Blue 72 is not mine and whoever it is has been listed as a mity mite, that's not me, what would you suggest. I'm an old fart and whoever it is appears to be a young kid, can you help me with this?
  21. Rather not go to deep because unamed sorce credibility, but was told a VHSL rep. was at the Riverheads game and had a talk to Tazewell's coach about something, and I would rather not elabrate on the something, if you know what I mean. Also been chattered that some players were upset about the playing time of freshmen versus seniors, but who the heck knows, to me it's more than likely someone wanting to start sh-- about something they don't even know about. Talk is talk and until there is prove, I don't put stock in the talk. I hope Tazewell and Richlands both have a full slate of players Friday and both have a safe game. GO BLUES!!!
  22. Bears are a tough out at the park, and Ridgeview has a talented team, but I'm going with the Bears in a close one.
  23. Hearing chatter that both teams have had players quit, and a lot of desention on Tazewell's side, with the VHSL. I don't pay much attention to the chatter, so I think this will be one heck of a game. When these two go at it, throw out the records and let the chips fall where they may. Tazewell is very cabable of beating Richlands, and Richlands likewise is cabable of beating Tazewell. IMO I'll take Richlands by 7 because of the line play and running the ball. I for one am just glad that this game has become competitive again. Come Friday night hold onto your hat because it's going to be one of the old fashion type games you love to see. GO BLUES!!!
  24. Okay guys, didn't want to get into this too much, I seem to rub people the wrong way with my opinion sometimes, but we all have to be honest, and this only comes from an old fart who has been around many years as a Blues fan. Houston, we have a problem. First of all, let's not kid ourselves, the Blues have little chance of post season play, and yes, there are more games to play. It is easy for a successful program having a down year to fall into the poor pitiful me syndrom, and start blaming everyone else for the situation which I have seen in some form the last couple games. IMO (yelp, I said that), it's time to have a lot of second and third stringers, (bench riders) get some action on the field. Some good players who show great promise are just not performing up to par on the starting team, so why not change some things and start building for the next couple of years? I mean come on, if the starters aren't performing, change something, or the results will be the same. If the starter on your vehicle isn't doing it's job, you replace it, and right now our star players are not shinning to brightly. Just because a player or coach has great potential doesn't make him a great player or college prospect, it's the performance that counts. Right now either the system is broken, or the players on the field are not performing. I'll continue being a Blues fan no matter the record, but it's never easy supporting a team who has starters who don't seem to wnat to be playing. Like Ryan said, if they don't have the heart to play, the results will be the same.
