I didn't Google but will try to guess.
I remember reading Beattie Feathers name...Possibly in a History with Hayes article. I'm thinking it was from many, many years ago.
Mike Locke, if I remember correctly, was an outstanding scholar-athlete. I'm thinking he played at William & Mary (or some other school I could never get in) before returning to coach VHS.

The kid can play.
I bet his dad is proud.

As long as he's winning, Joe's unconventional moves make him look like a mad genius. But when it doesn't work, he just looks crazy. Maddon always seemed to have Dusty's numbers when he was the Nats' skipper, Baker used old-school, by the book, proven methods that didn't work against the Cubs. Meanwhile, Joe's unorthodox moves had him pushing all the right buttons. It finally cost Dusty his job.

Who's this Fica guy, and why's he getting my money?

I'm saving up for the Dennis Vaught bobblehead.

It's never easy being a Nats fan for all the reasons you've mentioned. But this year has been excruciatingly difficult. The fire sale after the trade deadline was nearly the final straw for me. I kinda imagine it went something like this. Nats GM Mike Rizzo: "Hey, get Theo Epstein on the phone. See if he'll trade that kid with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for Daniel Murphy."
-
I've praised this Chilhowie team while simultaneously stating something intangible was missing. I had predicted this team would be 12-1 when they met Galax in the state semis, with the one loss coming against the talented Bearcats. After the George Wythe win, I felt the Warriors had finally matured into the dominate team we've been waiting to see. That's what now makes this team remarkably better than last year's version. Chilhowie has avenged their 2017 losses to Marion and GW. If they guard against overconfidence, they can also payback the Cats. Depth should be the difference in this one.

Congrats to the Braves and their fans. Meanwhile, in other NL East news, the Nats were officially eliminated from the PS. Nothing like paying the luxury tax for .500 baseball.
