  1. If the competition plays such a huge part in the record, then why has it not been done before?  Not saying you are diminishing him or anything but others have said that before too and I just do t but it.  I get that the competition helped a little but it still is all about Mac and his athleticism and talent that done it as well as his teammates.

  2. I hope GC comes out and plays better to start the game than they did the other night.  I don't think Union has anything for them but I do think they can keep it closer than expected if GC doesn't get off to a good start.  The Graham and Wise game is intriguing.  Wise has been knocking down there shots for the past few games and if they can continue to do that, they may keep the game tight into the 4th.  I feel like GC and Graham will come out on top in the end.

Damned “facts”.  I also see that Graham held Union to 42, and I don’t remember seeing Union in the SWD standings...

You're missing my point.  Both M7 and SWD aren't very strong this year, however based on the final four in the region M7 is slightly ahead.  Holding opponents to 45 is still impressive but it's not like they will do that against better competition.

  4. I hope GC isn't worried about the other record at all.  It seems like we may agree that, in the first half, GC showed obvious tension and wasn't handling the pressure very well.  They were trying to get Mac the ball and he was taking very tough, contested shots and nothing was falling.  I believe Lebanon missed a bunch of early ft's or they would have had the lead after the first quarter.  With the one record being over now my hope is they get back to playing loose and free because if they don't it will be an early exit.

  5. I do believe Graham is much better than people may want to give them credit for or realize but let's not go thumping our chest over the whole holding opponents to 45.  All be it that is impressive nonetheless but it's the SWD.  The M7 wasn't that great but look who's still alive in the region, 3 M7's to your 1 SWD.  I agree that if both make it to the region championship it will be the toughest opponent GC has played in awhile but the same can go for Graham.

  6. Duh, he was approached by Coach Vermillion in 8th grade and they were able to negotiate a deal.  Coach told Mac if he would then he could break the record and now look where we are!!  Get out of here with that nonsense.  Is it too hard for people these days to just be proud of someone's accomplishment or does everybody have to try and throw shade all the time?  I seen somewhere some guy said about the record, "he won't make the league so who cares."  Give me a break.

  7. What is everyone's thoughts on this?  Will there be any upsets or will it be chalk in the first round?  I will be interested to see,if it is chalk, how good Grayson County really is as well as the matchup with Graham and Wise-Central.  Based on how Central played the other night, I believe that could be one of the better games in the tournament.  If it is Graham and GC it will be good to see the rematch from last season and also see how well GC stacks up against the Graham defense that I've heard a lot about.  Should be fun the next 3-4 days.

Total foul difference in the game was 33 against Abingdon (not counting the 3 T's and flagrant) and 6 against GC (yes 6 for entire game with only 1 in first half).  McClung shot 27 free throws in the game by my count.

The newspaper article says Mac was 13-15 from the line.  That's a big discrepancy from your perspective of the game.  Mac's strength is driving to the basket, therefore he will create a lot of contact and get a lot of chances at the line.  GC's biggest weakness, according to everyone else, is that they don't play any defense so that may explain the reason they don't foul much is because they don't put that much pressure on the ball.  Maybe if there were more fouls called against GC they would of only won by 32 instead of 52. 😉

  9. IMO, if Dean scores in double figures, nobody will beat GC.  MM and Zac will get theirs but the difference maker to me is Dean.  If he's on early and looks for his shot throughout the game then lookout.  If he's more looking to pass the ball to the other two then the game will be tight.  All in all, this time of year anything can happen because they don't call it March Madness for nothing, or in high school February Madness.
