Bluefield has been down the last couple of years and they’re in a class with James Monroe who beat them last year and Williamstown who has been pretty dominant in A. Scott was good last year as well and you also have Wheeling Central. Maybe when those middle schoolers get to be juniors and seniors.
Saw Oak Hill has dropped Bluefield. I guess because they’re 4A and playing a 2A team doesn’t benefit them. Pretty surprised under the new system Bluefield wouldn’t be 3A. Anyway that’s sad. They have been playing each other for decades and are fairly close. Bluefield might find another game somewhere but looking likely they won’t have a ten game schedule.
I’m going to agree with this. It’s fun to see teams play who don’t typically play each other year in and year out. It’s fun to see some inter-state match ups as well. In a tournament you shouldn’t be playing a district opponent.
4 is too many classes in WV. It’s just not a big enough state with enough schools. There’s like what around 30 teams in each class? Dave Walker and I think Fred Simon as well have both said four is too many in their interviews on fresh off the clock.
