  1. No that was only a local rumor. They released on Facebook, that it was only an ugly rumor not to be believed. I don't think we have a lot of size, but we do have some athletes that could help. It will be interesting to see how they improve. I'm thinking 5 wins would be a good season for them. I'd say on a good day if things go well they will get 3 to 5 wins this season. Not great but improved. Give them another season or so and they will be dangerous I think. The coaching staff did an excellent job at getting intrest up. I think they are also making the wrestling team play which helps.
  2. The coach told me 44 total, JV might be included. So it's looking like 30+ at the least. I think they will surprise some teams.
  3. No Abingdon? Hmmm that's funny, they have one of the better teams locally and are the biggest school on this side of SWVA...sure makes a lot of sense WCYB?🤔
  4. Wow I had no idea thanks for the reply. Lebanon and VA high might be a good game this year.
  5. I'm going on a limb and say Lebanon wins 4 ...for the young team they have it would be a surprise.
  6. I think 4-6 is reasonable. I understand they have some talent but it's how the coaches use it that is a factor. I saw similar predictions last year, but it went South fairly quick and by the end even Lebanon beat them. My advice is to temper expectations and see what happens in the first few games. It's better to be an underdog and win more than expected instead of being a favorite and struggle. Good luck to Tazewell I hope you exceed expectations. I'm expecting Lebanon to go anywhere from 1-9 to 4-6. They are young but do have some talent if they can stay healthy. I think VA High will struggle some but I'd expect them to win 4 or so they do have athletes. Good luck to all teams, it's going to be a interesting season.
  7. Lebanon is the same way. Halls are filled with big guys who could play but won't as far as football is concerned.
  8. Not sure what happened exactly, but I agree it sounds plausible. I thought a week postponment was ridiculous. I think at that point the senior girls were done. They had already graduated and were just finished with high school. I wished they would have finished what they started, but with kids today nothing surprises me.
  9. I agree, we definitely would have won it baseball and very possibly softball..we won the season series against Richland's and probably would have beat them in the final had we made it. We matched up well with them. I'm not sure about Volleyball but again we would have had a chance. Our football team would have won at least 2 to 3 more games with a Single A schedule.
  10. Exactly...will that happen ? Not sure, we will have to wait and see.
  11. No, that has nothing to do with it. I understand schools can be weak in certain areas. All I was saying is our numbers justify such a move. Would we still potentially struggle in football? Yes, and I'm okay with it.
  12. Ok he was initially suspended and investigated, which found nothing worthy to remove him. Then his coaching contact not his teaching contract was not renewed, and later renewed. People want him removed as a coach, but does that ensure he is not around students ? Absolutely not, he's tenured and has legal protection. Its also too late to put legal charges on him. He might step down as a coach, but I seriously doubt he stops teaching. Unless he is removed from the classroom the problem isn't fixed. At this point I don't think they can remove him without a major legal battle. Tenured teachers are not easy to fire. I'm not saying every account of his wrong doing is false, but remember folks we do live in a time where students do lie to get teachers fired. That's why every teacher should have legal protection in Richmond.
  13. Lebanon has 8th grade in HS, last year we fielded a team by dressing freshman and didn't really play a JV schedule. Enrollment of 450 is very accurate, and your correct most of our better athletes specialize in one sport, especially our male athletes. If all our capable athletes played we would be very competitive in Football. In all honesty Lebanon should be dropped to Single A. Which is not likely to happen. We would be much more competitive. I think our facilities play a factor as well in our ability to complete at a higher level. I would also argue we would have beat some teams we played early in the season last year had we played them later in the season. Our team improved quite a bit as the season went on.
  14. Lebanon is one of the smaller 2A schools in the state when you look at the numbers. Our football facilities need major improvements including weight room. Our coaches are enthusiastic and do a good job with what we have. Like other schools, football safety has become an issue. Parents and students are afraid of injuries, especially to the head. We also have many athletes who could play, but mainly focus on one sport. As a school we are competitive in everything except football. I've been told we have a solid group coming in from youth ball in a couple years, but we have to see how it translates. We have the athletes, just getting them in the field is the hard part.
  15. I know Lebanon will have low numbers. Schools should look at 8 man football. Some say that's where the state might be heading, any thoughts?
  16. So who do you think wins tomorrow between Lebanon and Chatham? Pioneers all the way!!
  17. So proud of my Pioneers. Go get that title boys. Go Red!!!
  18. Abingdon does not have a 500 student special Ed program..I know that for a fact. So I'm not buying it either. Union and Ridgeview lost, so I think it's time to get over it and quit making excuses.
  19. I still say sour grapes....
  20. Abingdon did play Pulaski, hidden valley and Christiansburg. They've played Blacksburg in years past. I'm sorry, but your post sounds like sour grapes. If you don't like your team's losing to them, maybe they need to step up? The VHSL approved it so tough.
  21. Abingdon and VHS always play each other tough it's a rivalry game. Don't sleep in the falcons or they might hang 40 on you. I think Abingdon wins by a touchdown. 35 to 28
  22. Gate City is improving, but Battle has been as well. I think Battle wins it 35 to 21. The difference being the Triple option that Battle runs, it's hard to stop.
  23. I think this could be a bit of a trap game for Virginia High. Their depth has been an obstacle all season and with injuries it gets worse. They definitely have enough talent to win it. Lebanon looked better against Castlewood, the offense finally started clicking running and passing. The defense finally showed some toughness. Again it was against Castlewood, VHS is another beast entirely. I hope VHS can make the playoffs, I enjoyed watching them last year against Marion, even though it was freezing. On a nonfootball note I can't wait to watch my nephew come to LHS as a drum major for the Bearcats this Friday. Good luck the rest of the season
