  1. As I mentioned before, the long range plan that has been discussed for Tazewell Co. (which I believe will happen eventually) is that there will be 2 schools in each town, Bluefield, Tazewell and Richlands. The Middle Schools will house k-7 and the High Schools will be 8-12. There are still 7 elementary and primary schools in the County that will be closed before the High Schools will be touched and I believe that the middle schools will be re-purposed, they can all 3 house over 1,000 students and the 8th graders could easily be moved into the High Schools. Several Virginia counties already use this model. 2 elementary schools have already closed and I believe you will see the remaining 7 closed in the next 15 to 20 years. There are plenty of 1A and 2A schools in the area to keep all 3 High Schools in the county.
  2. If the school systems are considered as being paid well, then you are definitely in trouble. Our school systems in this area pay much less than other parts of the state.
  3. Yes I did. All in good fun, of course. At least Im predicting one team running through the band at the END of the game. Im sure there will be a whole lot of talk about McDonalds before Graham-Union this year too.
  4. Union by a TD as time expires on a blocked fg attempt and they run through the band which is marching across the field near the endzone.
  5. Tazewell goes to Ridgeview on the 16th. I think it's at 6:00.
  6. On a positive note. I believe Graham should end up with over 50 this season. Numbers have continued to go up in recent years.
  7. When and where does Bluefield scrimmage?
  8. I agree. Tazewell has a lot of talent at the skill positions. QB transferring to Bluefield may be a blessing in disguise, they need some consistency at qb. Watching them play some last season, it seemed like they would have a rhythm, then switch qb's and destroy the rhythm they had. They had several linemen go down to injury last season and that hurt a lot. I look for them to have a good season.
  9. 5-5 at worst. 8-2 at Best. Hoping for the latter. Line-play will be the key. Hopefully the QB situation is solved and they will have consistency at that position.
  10. It may seem like it sometimes.
  11. With 2- a - days starting next week, Scrimmages are just 3 weeks away. Please post scrimmage schedules here !! Graham - August 15th 7:00 vs. Glenvar (at Christiansburg High School) - *****UPDATED**** Graham - August 22nd 6:00 @ Cave Spring, vs. Cave Spring & Greenbrier East Both scrimmages are on Thursdays.
  12. I disagree. Bluefield most likely the only loss for Graham (unless the Graham defense shows up in the first half this year.) then its a toss up. No way Graham loses 3 with what they have coming back. It would be a shock if they lose 2 in regular season.
  13. 57-0 before subs is all I have to say. I'm sure Radford will be a very good team, but to dismiss Graham this year is insane. Good luck, would love to see these 2 play. Why throw shade on Graham's players? That wasn't very nice. Try to keep it classy. You asked, I just told you who the standouts were.
  14. Standouts for Graham will be: Devin Lester- (QB / DB) : D-1 offers Brody Meadows (OL) - D-1 offers as a freshman (1st team all -American Freshman team last season). Aaron Edwards: 1st team all state LB (interest growing, including D-1) Nick Kastner: 1st team all state LB (several D-1 schools showing interest) Marcus Ray: WR/ DB: Very athletic, very fast WR / DB. Can also be a change of pace RB Tre Booker: RB / DE: Very powerful / bruising RB (6 ft. 220 lbs) - if he can't run around you, he will run over you. Juvante Reed: RB / DL: another powerful RB (250 lbs) also plays on DL. Xayvion Turner: RB: Very fast and athletic, but a bit small (150 lbs). Isaiah Justice: WR: Tall, lanky, athletic wide receiver with very good hands Joey Dales: Kicker / WR: Very solid kicking game and a nice 3rd option at WR. Isaac Dalton: LB - Most likely the 3rd LB (when they are using 3 LBs and to spell the others) along with Edwards and Kastner (very solid and hard nosed. Landon Atkins: DL / LB: Very hard nosed agressive player. Peyton Kiser: DE: Developed into a very solid player on defense last season. Kayin Carson: OL That's just off the top of my head... I'm sure thee will be a couple younger kids step up. Hope that helps. If you think that Lester is all that Graham has this season, you are in for a rude awakening. Also, I believe Graham was up 57-0 in the playoffs over Radford before the subs went in, "so don't hate".
  15. Among the top players. (VA side) I would have to include. Meadows, Lester, Ray, Kastner and Edwards at Graham. Webb from Richlands. Jordan and Harris from Tazewell. Atkins from Ridgeview. Dont know much about any others, but those are some good ones.
  16. Recent discussions of having k-7 housed in each middle school. 8-12 at each high school. Keeping all 3 High Schools and closing all elementary schools. (leaving 7 total schools in the county including the vocational center.) A couple of elementary schools closed last year, Tazewell County still has 7 elementary / primary schools, way too many. Look for more to close in the near future. Unless a miracle happens and Amazon moves to Tazewell County. TCounty is currently operating 14 schools. Of course, this is a long range plan to happen over the next 15 to 20 years or so, if current factors don't change.
  17. Nunley and not Mullens? I figured Nunley to be a target at receiver, along with Honaker. Although, Nunley is a smart kid and good athlete too. Tazewell has a lot of talent on the field.
  18. Lester has a cannon of an arm. A lot of folks wanted Lester to be the starter over Allen last year.
