  1. Are there any games left next week that will affect seeding for playoffs in 1D & 2D or is it pretty much set now? I know I read maybe in another thread that SWD was Graham, VA High, Richlands, & Tazewell while M7 due to losses last night for Union & Ridgeviewl would be Central, Union, RIdgeview, & Gate City. I just wondered if this was set in stone or if there were rider points maybe for the final regular season games that might change something.  Will round 1 games be on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon? Is that up to the hosting school?

    Yes 0-1

with 3 PPD from original schedule

    Beckley Woodrow Wilson

    Richlands

    Pulaski

Pulaski replaced the Bluefield game so its off the board

I don't think any team is going to play on a Friday and then play Bluefield on a Monday or Tuesday and then play their regular game on Friday of that week too.

Its 8 games must count inthe rating system to make the playoffs

    A forfeit counts as played

the 6 is number of games in your class or higher which has been waived this year

It's going to be hard to get 7 games in within a four week time frame since they're not playing anyone this week. They've only played Princeton, right?

Someone posted awhile back 6 games were needed but don't know if they are right or not

I heard it was 8 and it's going to be hard for Bluefield to get 8 games with only 4 left in the regular season but if it's 6 then they might be okay.

So, did Princeton really beat Bluefield?  Or am I asleep already?

How long has it been since Princeton beat Bluefield? Did ANYONE see this coming? Looking forward to the game with Pulaski.  Pulaski had a great showing this week.  You can't get any better than Dixon at the helm.  If Bluefield can't pull out a win, how long since they lost two in row? I wonder if they had key players out for Covid or something.

I wish our community would have been upset over this last week when it first got brought up. It was wrong from the beginning and no one said anything n Blue tornado live put on Twitter that we would draw names out of a hat when we beat graham. Everyone was okay with that last week which is bs in my opinoin

I think the bottom line is that Richlands voted for the change and now they want to undo the unanimous  vote.  I don't think the VHSL will even entertain the appeal knowing Richlands voted for the change but now don't like it because they don't benefit from it.

A few people have told me now that coach Thad has went above the SWD & Region D and has appealed all the way to the VHSL...

buckle up fellas it looks like if Richlands wins today they’re going to be in the region D playoffs over Union per VHSL !!!

Richlands' principal voted for the changes. Any appeal by Richlands is ultimately moot. It should be a done deal.  Union goes to playoffs, Richlands does not. The end.

  9. This is a season like no other.  I think nothing was ever really clear from Region D from the get go. Probably like most things around this whole Covid mess, they were trying the best to please everyone which is impossible. The stance evolved as season progressed and the SWD as a whole wasn't in agreement with the M7 as to how to do things. It's a short season, every game has to count, period in one way or another.  Best thing, everyone pull up their big boy underwear, finish out the season and then focus on next year. We all hope and pray it's a normal season and we don't have to go through this again. Good luck to the teams advancing! The ones not advancing, this is a character defining moment. You can let it define you or you can rise above it.  Carry on, friends!

Food for thought. On Graham's first TD (correct me if I am wrong) I heard on the radio that the big 300 pounder for Tazewell was injured and had to leave the game. With Brody Meadows on the line and the big fellow out for at least 1 play why do you not just go for two and run Fritz behind Meadows?  I know the kicker has done a fine job and I would have normally gone for one as well but when an opportunity like that presents itself don't you have to take advantage?  If I am incorrect in my facts I apologize.

No offense to anyone because I am by no means an expert nor do I claim to be. Graham has a first class coaching staff but I really have to question several of the decisions tonight at least on the offensive side of the ball.  Graham could have prevented an OT in my opinion on a couple different occasions but as I said, I am no expert.

Your right, there does seem to be a fair amount of stupidity.  FYI, nearly 1/3rd of the NFL is "banged up" after week 5.  The truth is, Graham doesn't have 5 guys who will sit out due to injury.  As for them being banged up, lets make it 10 guys.  It doesn't matter.  Banged up could mean a hangnail or bursitis of the knee versus a torn ACL.  Lots of variance in "banged up."  And FYI, Graham actually, does NOT have a bunch of players who are "banged up."  You heard wrong.

Big difference between being banged up and injured. Banged up, you play and injured you don't . Banged up to me means you're not at 100% which doesn't constitute a hang nail. You cannot compare an NFL player to a high school football player.

What I want to know is the following...…...….did some of the Graham faithful actually think the "we have about 5 guys banged up" excuse would actually fly, or that It wouldn't be questioned, and all of them would miraculously get healthy at the same time after being "banged up?"  LMAO.  The public by in large probably is pretty stupid regarding being informed of issues, but for heaven's sake, the public is not Neanderthals.  LMAO.

I never said they weren't going to play, you're inferring (or others are inferring) something that's not there.  Banged up simply means banged up. There tends to be a fair amount of stupidity these days for sure, lol.

I hear rumors that Kastner might not be playing on Friday (unknown reason) - any truth to that?

From what I'm hearing there are 4 or 5 really banged up. Graham may be in the same boat as Union having key players banged up.

  14. Going back and reading last year's thread on this same game, a lot of people had Richlands winning because Graham had not performed up to expectations.  That was the game Graham really kicked it into high gear and everything seemed to click offensively and defensively.  Hoping the GMen seize the opportunity this Friday and perform to their potential.  If they do, it won't be a barn burner.
