I think Graham should only let about 175 Galax fans have seats. See how they like it! #standingroomonly

Yeah because it's Galax fans fault for the bleachers on the visitor's side and I think there is  more than 175 seats there anyways, believe it or not most schools fans don't even fill them up.

I agree, galax may run between the 20's but in the RedZone not so good. they cant throw the ball for diddly and are very one dimensional.  I read about them not being able to pass the ball against Radford because of the athletes they have well name a game they did throw the ball in? Giles they couldn't throw and they have no DB's and get no pressure from their front 7 and still galax had to run to win the game. be glad galax was in better shape than giles.  graham has above average DB's, #1 is by far their best and their front 4 will harass galax all night long especially if they cant throw. From what I've read they have run the ball 178 times in 4 games with one guy doing 135 of them that's 34 times a game for one guy and if that keeps up will be along season for that young man. If galax could throw the ball you would throw the ball. now lets hear the rebuttal!

Galax threw for 154 against Glenvar, 121 against Giles and 10 against Radford so no Galax does not have much of of a passing game but if you think that secondary from Radford didn't make some difference you're just being your typical Galax hating self. Galax has a ton of work to do if they want to make a run and time will  tell if  these games against Radford and Graham make them better.

What I had done in the past with other peoples kids was 6th to 7th grade start teaching lifts and strengthening shoulder girdles and core so they can handle weight when they get older. 8th grade is usually good for harder lifting. Technique and explosion are more important than weight. The weight will come. People will say you're going to stunt their growth, but my own kids started lifting earlier than that and they are both 6'1" and at 6'2" I'm the tallest person in my family. We generally run 5'9" to 5'11" on both sides of the family.

My son started lifting with me around 5th or 6th grade and he is close to 6'2", definitely didn't stunt his growth but we just worked on getting his form correct to begin with and the weight came later.

Galax is extremely one dimensional this season on offense. Nothing resembling a passing game. The Galax RB already has 135 carries through four games. He has 767 yards rushing but that's a heavy workload with 3 months left in the season considering Galax has expectations of late playoff runs. I think part of the Galax success over the past 6-8 years has been the fact they have been so multidimensional on offense. They learned a valuable lesson in back to back loses to Haysi about being one dimensional. Radford adjusted after the first Galax offensive series and put 9 in the box and Galax still couldn't throw it. Galax still moved the football (Tucker finished with 178 yards on 43 carries) but never scored again. Partly due to mistakes and penalties. 1st and 20 is hard to recover from when you have limited options on offense. Fumbling several times at the mesh point between QB and RB certainly didn't help. I thought Galax played well against Radford. They limited that passing attack to only 7 completions. But 4 of them were explosive plays that went for long TD's totaling 216 yards. And with a limited offense to keep pace, mistakes can't happen if Galax is going to keep up.

I think this game is similar to last season. Galax will keep it close early, Graham will pull away late. Graham 28 - Galax 7

Galax will not see another secondary with that much talent the rest of the year so hopefully they can get the passing game going just enough to keep everyone from loading the box the rest of the year. From what I've heard some of the kids were getting a little cocky so hopefully this game will make them realize that they still have a lot of work to do to make another run.

In all seriousness, Galax developed the "Breakfast Club" more than a decade ago. The kids show up at 6:30 every morning for weight lifting, film study, walk-throughs, etc. Whatever is needed on any given day. It's pretty much a year-round thing too. The cafeteria staff feeds them breakfast afterward. It has proven to be vital to maintaining the strength and conditioning from top to bottom in the program. The older kids pass the tradition down to the younger kids that look up to them. The kids work together to make sure everyone has transportation. There is something about seeing a senior pick up an 8th grader to drive him to the school at 6:15 every morning.

I dropped my son off at 6am Monday through Friday year round at the school until he got a driver license and started driving himself. Not only have the players bought into the breakfast club but the parents of the younger kids have bought in as well to get up and get the kids up there on a year round basis. And like you said I know a lot of the older kid's have took the time to pick up the younger ones as well. I know one young man that graduated a couple of years ago always had a car load when he arrived. Truthfully the whole community has bought in and supported the team. Not only has this helped them as a team but it has helped prepare them for life as well, they now understand a little more what it's like to get up early and go  put in the work that it takes to be successful in life. I get up at 4:50 every morning to go workout and my son who graduated last year still gets up and beats me there to get his day started before he goes to work or drive to college on the days he has classes. So to me Coach Dixon started this for football but he taught many life lessons in the process and Coach Allen has done a great job of keeping it going.

    Radford by 21 book it

Very well could happen or could be worse but we heard the same thing last year. Radford has as much or more talent at the skill positions than anyone we'll see this year. (Graham will as well) Galax will have to pound the ball with long drives to keep Radford's offense off the field as much as possible to have a chance in this one.

  7. Hate it for all the people involved there, when Bland had to cancel a few years back it didn't effect Galax we just decided to have a off week instead of trying to feel the slot. If I remember correctly it didn't hurt our playoff points either but I could be wrong.

  8. Giles had a good game for Galax, they were doing little things we hadn't seen on film and it worked well for a half. Coach Allen did make some adjustments for that at halftime and it showed in the second half and we wore them down, not to mention Galax appeared to come out flat against a good scrappy Giles team. From the little I've seen out of GW( jamboree and and some of the Radford game) the d line gets after it and seems pretty solid but being over aggressive against Giles and can bite you. Both teams have some good athletes this year but whichever team jumps on the other early might be the deciding factor.

The new Band Director at Galax told us last night, some Galax coaches were invited to Virginia Tech on Friday for the football game. Plus, this helps the official shortage situation and Giles was kind enough to accommodate both situations by moving the game to Thursday.

Works for me as I can watch both games now without recording the Va Tech game and trying to watch later with everyone telling what happened already.

  10. Rumor has  it this game will be played on Thursday night? Should be a good one with both teams coming off big wins, what are some thoughts on this matchup? I know Giles is starting to get back to be Giles of old but I think if Galax show's up plays disciplined football they can get the win.

  11.  I would of liked to have watched more of the Radford - GW game but when the rain set in I headed home so I basically watched the 1st qtr. This is probably the best team GW has put on the field in several years and Radford looks to have talent all over the field. Both teams looked good and sloppy at the same time with first game jitters which is to be expected. Like I said I didn't see much of the game but both of these teams have the ability to make some noise this year.

If Glenvar is as advertised I don't think Galax will have the depth to pull this one out. Hell of a first game for Galax and it will be a good test to see where we stand and what we need to improve on. Galax has a tough 5 game stretch coming and will there is a very good possibility of them coming out 2-3 but if they stay together and work hard they will be a force come playoff time. Glenvar by 2 plus TD's but I hope I'm wrong.
