And a loss to the best defense he played all year. Just sayin. Like passing for 80% completion rate and never throwing downfield.

The best D we played all year was Christiansburg.  Glenvar was 2nd best.  Clark's completion rate isn't terribly high as most of his TD's are long passes in the air and his his attempts are mostly downfield-bomb type passes.

  2. As a Bobcat supporter, it feels good to be favored over a team like Graham.  It lets me know my team is pretty good because the GMen seem to always be good, but 1 point favorites ain't enough to be comfortable. If we go on to win out and then win C, & Graham wins D, the game at Raddy could be one of the most attended at our stadium in decades.  Even with population declines, that stadium will be packed with fans locally knowing the quality of play of the 2 schools.  Also, word is out among our fans and alums that we have the best chance, or at least we think we do, to win a state title since Ken Alderman and the old timers from the early 70's, and with the history of Graham and their football prowess, many Radford alums will come home and make the trip for this one.

  3. Mine would be Radfords 10-7 loss to Graham in 1989. Very personal to me because I played on that one. I thought we had em.

Since winning the AA state titles in 1971 and 72 led by Coach Lineburg and All State QB Kenny Alderman, the Bobcats are 1 and 7 in state semi games. 0-1 in state title games. That's 8 appearances at the state semi level without a state title. You can imagine why the fans in Raddy are so excited this year. Trying to get over the hump.  Also, Kenny Alderman's nephew was a freshman or sophomore that played for Graham on the 1989 Graham state title team

The Vikings over Chippy Chapells Chargers from Victoria, VA. Small history blurb. My father would go hunting some with Glynn Carlock, Chippy Chappell, and Willis White of Salem, and occasionally Mike Smith of Hampton High and a few others. Those guys would get together once a year. Chappell was the Phil Robbins in single A of Eastern VA, and had ties to swva.  My father once had a picture of Mike Smith (Hampton), Glynn Carlock, Chippy Chappell (Central Lunenberg), John Chmara (Bluefield High), Willis White (Salem) and Nick Colobro (Gate City) drinking a beer at the legendary Cottons Bar in Bluefield, VA, before going on a hunting trip. If I can find it, I will post it.

Bandana, Coach Lineburg had a place in Bland County on Wilderness Rd close to national forest land. Some of those gatherings were held there among the coaches you mentioned and many more. Tight knit group. Coach Lineburg, Joel Hicks, Harry Ragsdale, and even Dave Ryder and Homer Hickham of rocket boys fame were in that group of friends that usually got together each year for many years.

I know who Jason is. Let me tell you this, I I will leave it alone because I still have PTSD over this guy. He wears overhauls. He's a big dude. I went camping one year in Pennsylvania at this awesome little teenage summer camp called Crystal Lake. It's a cool place, but a little creepy. Turns out, Jason was there, and he came after a me and my friends with a machete and successfully killed some of them. His own mother supported him with the crimes!!! They never caught the dude and years later, I'm working in Manhattan, NYC, and low and behold, guess who shows up? Yep, Jason. He had made it up to Manhattan! This is a dangerous individual and true story folks, very true!

I hate to hear this for you. Man, u should tell your story and maybe they should make a movie (with 8 or 9 sequels) out of it.

On the “other board”, most posters are handing Radford the 2C crown & state championship. As far as 1C, I agree about GW QB, get him back & utilize the backup QB in another position, he’s a great athlete too. I think they have a legitimate chance all things being considered.

Their making mistake.  We've got awesome talent at skilled positions & will be hard to throw on, and we can pass and spread teams out and score, but we are equal on the line of scrimmage with Martinsville, Appomattox, and I give Glenvar a slight edge on the LOS.  Union, Graham, Woodstock, Poquoson, and Luray are better than us on the line of scrimmage. I haven't seen King William or Ridgeview yet.  Raddy is good enough to win a state title, but we aren't good enough on the line of scrimmage to be an easy pick for a state title.  A team like Graham, Union, Central Woodstock, Luray, or Poquoson that runs the ball well will give us problems.  Glenvar always plays its best game against us and we've had problems with them.  The talk in C is Martinsville, Appo, and Raddy of course, but people are counting Glenvar out.  Glenvar is good enough to win C as far as talent across the board.

All these games moved to Thursday.

    Greensville County - Surry County

    Southampton - Sussex County

    Windsor - Brunswick

Northampton - Middlesex  postponed indefinitely due to high winds on the Bay Bridge

Add Poquoson at Smithfield to that list. Moved to Thursday night (tonight).

You are ALWAYS going to have that small crowd that will constantly blame coaching. They are in every town. They are on every message board. From Giles, I present the two tokens....Stranger danger (who's time here is limited) and 1wingit23.  We've seen a couple from Appalachia/Big Stone wanting Turner fired. The world is full of tokens. It's scary though...we let em drive and vote. Thank God we don't let em become nuclear power plant operators.

We've had some at Radford for years. We had people wanting Coach Lineberg gone and you could never please em. Even at the booster meetings, always an argument or complaint. Long on problems and short on solutions.

Radford's talent level is really impressive, Graham has a had a lot of talent in the past and I'm sure they have talent this year. Thanks for the update.

If Graham or RV were to run table or Union runs table with only 1 loss on season, keep your eyes on Raddy vs CBurg this upcoming weekend. That game could be the decisive game if we win region that will decide if we host or travel in the semi's IF we win Region.  1 loss Union Reg D winner and 1 loss Raddy will be close in points. An undefeated Graham or RV Region D outpoints 1 loss Radford. Huge game this weekend for us.

  10. I just watched the game online. Both teams are much better than any team in 2C on the LOS an Radford included.  Yall might be selling yourselves short. The level of play out there on the line of scrimmage from both sides was very impressive for Class 2 football teams.

Cant wait for Union - RV. All about stategy. Can Union stop big plays from RV receivers? Can RV stop a time eating , physical, run offense? Again, matchups and coaching means a lot !

I love matchups like this. You figure Union gets the best of RV up front with Union's OL and run game, and RV gets the edge with big passing plays against Union's secondary, but who wins MORE.

  12. My Cats looked good against a very good Galax team. Galax and Graham is one I'm interested in. I'd feel a lot better if that thing went down to the wire but it's hard to say. If Raddy don't win Reg C this year, then we never will. Radford vs Christiansburg and Raddy vs Glenvar and Graham vs Ridgeviee and Union vs Ridge are 4 games that will decide whether Region C hosts or travels to D in the semi's IF Raddy can win C. Big IF

  13. I'm hopeful our new coach doesn't start playing a weaker schedule.  Our schedule hasn't changed a whole lot.  We play our 5 district required games in Alleghany, Carroll, Floyd, Glenvar, and James River.  The other non district games are George Wythe, Gate City, Fort Chiswell, Galax, and Christiansburg.

  14. Through 3 games our junior QB Landen has accounted for 16 touchdowns.  He's thrown for 12 averaging 4 TD passes per game and he has ran for 4 more TD's.  He's playing good football right now and putting up crazy numbers.  Against Gate City, he threw for 6 TD's and ran for 2 accounting for 8 TD's in one game.

Makes me wonder if the 7 year string of D1 talent is finally slowing down.

They have 2 this year.  T. Copeland going to Virginia Tech at Linebacker a senior and Jonathan Pennix, RB, with offers from UVA, WVU, Pitt, BC, Louisville
