  1. Got to go with Galax. Great defense and very physical, and I think Galax might wear down Holston in the late 3rd/4th quarter.
  2. Me either. I was going to go to this, but I'm heading up to the Beckley area (Coal City) to watch Bluefield and Independence. If Appo, Graham, win I will watch Appo coming to Mitchell against Graham. I think Appo is to good for Glenvar. I think the Beavers win, but I think the Bluefield game is closer in score than Appo-Glenvar. I will follow/glance at Appo/Glenvar on my phone /NFHS while watching the Beavers in live action. For me, Independence's stadium is only about 20 minutes further than Glenvars in drive. We passed ball for 400 yds on Appo, but our QB is more mobile (Radford) than Glenvars.
  3. I heard Graham has former NFL player Yubrenal Isabelle's son and that Ahmad Bradshaw has another son in middle school who is also going to be special. Sounds like Graham has a lot in the tank and will continue with it's string of future Div 1 players.
  4. Richlands has gone old school. Tight formation and run, run, run. It's 1992 all over again. So much for the wide-out passing game. Crazy to think, but Richlands seems to have morphed into a running team
  5. Guys, Union update? What's the score down in da Gap?

  7. 2nd Qtr, Region B, 4 seed vs 5 seed Buckingham County 13, Strasburg 3.
  8. Early 2nd Qtr, #2 Seed Region B Stuarts Draft 24, Luray 0
  9. 10 minutes left in the 2nd qtr. Region A number one seed King William 34, Greensville County 0
  10. End of 1st Qtr in Both Games. Kids at the Courthouse 7, Gretna 0 Poquoson 14, Brunswick 0
  11. I'm hearing this game may not happen. Covington Covid issues?
  12. Reading your post, the very first thing that came to my mind in your first sentence and well before you mentioned them was.....Laurel Park 2001. Wow! That one really got under people's collars and was talked about back then, on vapreps for quite some time. I remember the shock of them getting in, and the realization that they had to travel to Graham. I thought there was a real possibility of them getting hung 100 on them, but Coach Glynn Carlock did a masterful job of keeping the score down as best as possible. Something like 67-13. Can't remember exact score, but I know it was bad in hindsight, but actually seemed a bit closer than what I thought it was going to be at the time.
  13. Region A essentially created it's own system. The took the VHSL power rating, then created a "regional ranking and win loss percentage ranking" and assigned 2/3rds of the weight to the "regional ranking and win loss percentage ranking" and went from there with seeding. By looking at it, it's heavily rewarding teams like Brunswick who plays a very weak schedule and Nottoway who plays several Class 1 schools, but because the record is good and the teams they play are in the "regional area" there region ranking is high. For a team like Poquoson who plays arguably the toughest 2A schedule in Va with 9 out of 10 schools that are either Class 3A or 4A, it hurt them because they got 3 losses, and the teams they played were not in the 2A "Region." Craziest thing I think I've seen for playoff seeding in quite some time. In summary, they basically created their own ranking system, and assigned heavy weight to their own system, but I guess to remain compliant or not worried about slack from the VHSL, they kept the VHSL power rating system, but assigned it little weight. Poquoson, the 3rd highest power rated team became the 6th seed and will travel in round 1 and round 2 of the playoffs. Amelia, the 6th ranked VHSL power rated school somehow became the 4 seed, and hosts game one of the playoffs. Calpreps.....Poquoson 47, Amelia 10.
  14. Back to power points if all things are equal
  15. The freshman QB at Glenvar was supposedly coming to Radford for the start of his 7th grade season (a couple years ago) from what I was told, but family circumstances changed. He's a great athlete with a great arm, very accurate.
  16. It's probably very close and so close that games down the stretch like VH-Richlands, and if VH wins, VH vs Ridgeview in game 1 of playoffs, or IF Graham wins the Region and wins it's convincingly (not terribly close games). All of that stuff could make a difference either way.
  17. Was at the 1996 Grundy vs Salem game in Tazewell. Grundy outplayed Salem, and I mean really outplayed them, only to lose the game. Many of the younger generation of footballers wouldn't believe how tough Grundy was in the 90's. Had some good teams in the 80's as well with the Perkins brothers playing at different times, but it's incredible to think Grundy in 1996 was actually Div 4, or equal to Class 4 today. Officially, they would have been AA/Div 4 or AA"big". They were a better football team than Salem that year I think, and Grundy may have very well been the best Div 4 team in the state that year, and for sure, left a state title game appearance on the field in the semifinal loss to Salem. Neither team moved the ball well, but from what I recall, Grundy moved it a bit better during the game. Salem always bitc*d like a little child whenever they had to come west in football. There was always going to be a complaint or something.
  18. This group of Junior and Seniors did very, very well in junior high and most would have thought we would have been a llikely 9-1 team coming into the season. I know I did, and I don't usually think we are good enough to go 9-1. Credit the Maroon Tide for their comeback, but I just felt like we left one on the field with Galax with the lead we had, then turnovers, discipline issues. Same for Glenvar. When watching the Cats over the years and comparing the talent on this team to so many in years past, this team is kind of near the top of the heap. Not as good as the 2018 team that beat Appo, but still pretty talented with lots of speed and athleticism. The folks over here up to this point, would likely tell you they feel we have underachieved, so from my viewpoint, not that good of a year. Maybe we get lucky and beat Appo! One can wish As for the discipline thing, hopefully it turns around, but this is the least disciplined team I've seen at Radford in about 10 years.
  19. Christ has only been at Radford for this season, but as a Radford fan I can tell you there is talk. The thing with the player outside the locker room last night at half time didn't sit well. We've had two games this year where he had big leads, outplayed the opponent by a decent amount and somehow lost. I hope we turn it around next year, but I'm beginning to have my doubts now. I wanted the Va High fans to be wrong when they discussed this early in the year on here. I'm beginning to wonder now
  20. Region C Final Score Tunstall 41, Gretna 22
  21. Final Scores From Region A King William 38, West Point 0 Lafayette 49, Poquoson 15
  22. Guys, I saw the score posted here so no need to post it again. Tough loss for the Bobcats. I just don't know how that kid caught that pass with what I thought was surely an interception.
  23. Martinsville vs Patrick County has been postponed to Monday night (for now). Covid Issues with Patrick County, so no guarantee they will get it in Monday.
  24. That right there makes sense to me goose, cause when I tuned in there, GC at first look almost like a JV team to me, and I thought NFHS labeled it wrong, but then I saw the Falcons which looked like a regular junior high. I swear, Gate City had like 3 kids on the line that looked like varsity players.
