A lot on the line for both teams in this one. Lebanon controls its own fate. A win and they are in a loss and they are quite possibly out of the playoff picture. I think this one is at Lebanon and it's Senior night. I'm going with the Pioneers in this one 28 to 21. Lebanon Seniors, you've seen ups and a lot of downs in your high school varsity careers, but you've kept fighting through it all. Go out Friday and get that W! Go Red!

Looks like Lebanons two drops in the end zone are going to be the difference in this one.

Lebanon had its chances and blew it. They had at least two big drops that could have been touchdowns. They also should have adjusted their defense earlier, instead of waiting until your down 21 to 7 and the other team is running at will down your throat. They played hard and got back into the game. Enjoy the week off and get back at and take down Rural Retreat. Give credit to Holston they had a good game plan and played well. Lebanon does have receivers who can catch the ball, I have a feeling the cold weather played a role tonight but that's football. Again congrats Holston on a good game.

This is going to be a good game. Holston is definitely a team with more playoff experience in this one, however this Pioneers team is hungry and eager to prove they can hang with anyone on 1D. They played a good Gate City team tough a few weeks ago in a loss. Since then, the Pioneers have blitzed their opponents the past two weeks with 40+ points in the 1st half. I don't expect the Pioneers to do that to Holston this week. I'm giving the Pioneers the edge in this one. I don't think Holston can stop Lebanon's passing game enough to win this one. Lebanon 35 Holston 28 Pioneers will move to 6-3 going into a bye week before a showdown with Rural Retreat. Lebanon is 2 wins away from possibly clinching a Home playoff game.

I wish next year they'd come to Lebanon for the Coal Bowl. Lebanon has never been on Friday Night Rivals.

My initial prediction of 55 to 7 was almost spot on, the final was 54 to 6 LHS. It was also crazy that Governor Glenn Youngkin was there and Flipped the coin. Finish strong Pioneers 2 games to go, win them both and finish 7-3 and get a home playoff game.

It was 1999 (I was a Sophomore at JJ Kelly at the time) PV came to JJ Kelly riding a 34 game win streak. JJ Kelly was a team who had been the laughing stock of the LPD for years leading up to that game. The Indians were much improved going into the game but were picked to lose like 50 to 0. The Indians shocked the VHSL that night. Jumping out to a 13 to 0 lead at the half and holding on to win 19 to 14 in a classic all time upset. It's hard to believe that was 23 years ago, and again teams from Wise and BSG are getting ready to play as I am posting this. Here is the game in its entirety.

They are losing a few important starters next year, so they will be young. I expect them to take a step back, but still should be better then years passed. I think they will win 4 games or so. Moving back into the Southwest will be a challenge for sure. I expect them to be better than Marion. I know Va High loses quite a few but they seem to be in reload mode. Lebanon may be able to compete with Richlands as well if they stay down. I know next year they are still playing Honaker and Castlewood, and are picking up Battle, which should be another team they should hopefully beat. That being said this year's Freshman and Sophmores are only going to get better. They should still be fun on offense. It would have been interesting to see how they would have done had they stayed in 1D.

That's my feeling as well. They've still got 2 big games coming up after Castlewood in Holston and Rural Retreat, win both they go 7-3 and may host a playoff game. One game at a time though from here on out. I also think Lebanon played one of their worst games against PH during the 2nd game of the season and kept it within 2 tds most if that game. I think they'd play them tougher if they meet again. I think playing Virginia High and Gate City will only help them down the stretch. They played Gate City tough the entire game with a few players out or not full strength. With everyone healthy they might have one that one. Should be an exciting finish to the season.

Excellent analysis. I do think Lebanon could knock off Rural Retreat and Holston. I wouldn't be surprised ifthey won both of those games. I do think they will at least split. I see them going 6-4 or 7-3. They definitely would be a hard opening playoff game for any of the teams. You can never count up a JI Burton team in the playoffs. They are always dangerous. My top 6 in region D are in no order, Grundy, PH, (Lebanon, Rural Retreat, Holston) and Burton.

I don't see this game being close. Lebanon will put this game away by halftime. Lebanon will have its first 5 win season since 2014-15 when they finished 6-5 with a loss in the playoffs. Games against Holston and Rural Retreat will decide if it's a winning regular season. Lebanon 56 Castlewood 7

Make it 28 to 0 Lebanon over Northwood. 3 td passes for Reece. Lebanon is a very solid team this year with a really good passing offense. Northwoods defense hasn't seen an offense like Lebanon this year.
