  1. It doesn't help he's in a relationship with Marions AD. Wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor in the removal. I didn't see it happen, so I can't say anything about it, but both the head coach and the assistant coach having kids on the team may cause tempers to flare more easily. Besides the point, Graham played really bad and Marion were hitting their shots. When Marions on they can be dangerous , but putting them at 3 is a bit far-fetched in my opinion. I would still put Graham and Lebanon over them. VA High is beatable for both these teams with their big guy out, too. Still taking Blue Devils at #1.
  2. Don’t know much about Central, but if Marion doesn’t change anything from last week Central should have no problem. Onside kicking every play works out every once in awhile, but most of the time they’re giving their opponents the ball at midfield. Everyone knows it’s coming from film. Another thing they need to do, RETURN PUNTS. Marion doesn’t put anyone back to return punts. I know it’s only his second year, but I’m beginning to question Ginn as a high school head coach. He’s been around this game long enough to know he needs to make adjustments (I would think), so I’m hoping he turns things around in the next few years. Right now, Chilhowie High School is doing things a lot better than Marion Senior High, and not just in football.
  3. I agree, the system is still new, but it doesn’t seem like they’ve improved any from last year. Marion needs a youth football program (other then flag), so when these kids get to middle school and high school they know and understand this offense (and know proper tackling technique). These kids are getting to middle school with no real football experience and are thrown out there to play teams like Graham, and it’s sad. You said the triple option shortens the game (which I agree), but we struggle to get first downs so our offense is barely on the field. Coach Ginn has had plenty of coaching experience, so hopefully he can figure all of this out.
  4. Was disappointed watching the Marion game. The triple option is not a good fit for them. In that offense you need a mobile QB. They would have much better luck running the spread, they at least have some athletes at WR. They will probably beat Chilhowie considering how bad they are, but other then that they might not win another game. Also, I wasn’t too impressed with the D1 commit. I thought he would absolutely dominate against a team like Rural Retreat. Marion is in desperate need of some big time changes, specifically the school administration.
  5. Did anyone watch the Marion/Honaker scrimmage yesterday?
