  1. I've heard that Narrows is scrimmaging at Princeton this week along with PikeView and Mount View. Is this going to be Friday or Saturday and what time does it start? Thanks in advance.
  2. 2 of them if work allows: Narrows @ James Monroe and Giles @ Narrows
  3. Haven't took the time to really look but, if no one has yet, let me be the first to welcome you to the MED. I know it's a couple years off but why not. As far as football goes, honestly, I'm not too crazy about it but it happens. As a Narrows fan, I grew up watching Narrows and Fort in the early years and from the mid 90's on Narrows and Grayson playing for the MED. If I'm thinking correctly, the winner of the Narrows Grayson Co. game has won at least a share of the district crown over 80-90% of the time since '94 when the Three Rivers teams broke away. But honestly, barring some major changes in several areas, I don't see Narrows competing like they once were anyway. I think you'll find the football in Div. 2 much more competitive compared to Div. 3 simply based on the competition you'll have at the regional level. Most of the time 8-2 wouldn't even be good enough to get in the playoffs until the expansion so that should say enough for itself. Although I'm sure most of you already know this so I digress. Although I have to admit I'm looking forward to Narrows getting to play in Mitchell hopefully besides the grid-o-rama that they haven't competed in there in 15 years. As far as other sports, I think you'll find the playing field very even with a lot better opportunities for your teams to compete. I know Narrows and Graham played each other in basketball for a couple a entertaining games that I would say were even. That's all I got for now and once again welcome to the MED.
  4. If not for working 3-11 I would be at Narrows JM. Never has been quite the rivalry Narrows and Peterstown was but still usually a darn good ballgame that isn't decided till the 4th quarter.
  5. Cupcake??? North Cross is not Roanoke Catholic. At least 3 or 4 kids on their team being recruited by d1 schools. Several kids there are recruits from Cave Spring and Christiansburg. I'd have to say I'd take North Cross in this game actually.
  6. They have the 2.0 rule plus they go on a 6 point scale. I can vouch for ten years ago the best athletes were walking the halls at VHS. But then, it was mostly by choice.
  7. I can almost guarantee the answer there is no. Giles alum and coached all but a few years there. He'll stick with what he knows.
  8. That it does but athletic dept. seems to want no part of a team that might actually bring some fans. Lord knows Narrows could use that for athletic budgets.
  9. I see this as Reaganmonics. They drop the games in C-ville because it cost the VHSL too much to play there. So they go to Lane to save the money and make all those poor people drive 4+ hours to watch their teams play. Seems pretty simple to me.
  10. After seeing the Beavers numerous times last season, I wouldn't mind seeing both him and the safety (sorry forgot the name) that killed JM in the title in C'ville.
  11. Couldn't have said it better sir. Hard to plow a field without the horses.
  12. LOL yeah I could agree with the Zima and Rock Chalk Jayhawk.... took out 2 teams and one fanbase in one year. Hokie football fans and Tar Heel bball fans. 90% of the time they're one in the same simply because most Tech fans didn't know Tech existed until Maurice DeShazo came along. Or am I giving too much benefit of the doubt?
  13. Great! Another football player with UVa ties (Owah already committed to the 'Hoos) in trouble for doing something very stupid. We don't need nor want these kind of players/people in C'ville. If it takes guys like the bunch that's got arrested this summer to get to the level of Tech (which we are in arrest count) then the hell with it. I'm sure all Hoos will agree, I'd rather have 7-6 or 8-5 years with the Welsh type recruits than a ACC crown with a bunch of thugs.
  14. We know. We were all saying that from the time we heard about it before 2 a days started in '06. Hopefully we'll get back to the wing-T. Always thought that gave us the best chance to win since the kids have been running it since they learned what a football is.
  15. Which is way, since Narrows dropped down in 1988 there has only been 2 to 3 years max that the Narrows/Grayson Co. game didn't decide the MED in football.
  16. You're preaching to the choir sir. But in all seriousness, the last 3 games of the year, they ran the wing-t predominately and won 2 of the 3. Maybe that shows something. We'll have to wait and see I reckon.
  17. From reading it, it sounds like it's going to be pretty much everything that was run prior to Witt showing up. On a side note, I noticed that the game between Narrows and JM has been moved to what used to be the Pocahontas week on the schedule. The leads me to believe that Narrows has already picked up someone else. But who?
  18. Great choice, and congrats to Waterhead. Anybody that's talked to him knows he wanted the job to begin with. I may actually be able to pull for Giles a time or two now.
  19. LOL The big man had an attitude?? In the Narrows/EM game at EM, he was going over the backs of our post guys. One of our boys started flinging elbows to get him off (don't know for sure if intentional but wouldn't surprise me) and one connected. His mother came across the gym floor yelling literally in the their coaches ear to call a timeout when he was already on the bench. Funny stuff. I can see where you get it. As far as their fans go, not a shock at all. Always been that way for as long as I can remember.
  20. wing-t, single-wing, shotgun spread, split back, i-back, wishbone, yada, yada, yada... It boils down to winning one on one match-ups and execution. Bad calling happens at every level, every game, every team. Execute and win your one on one's and 99% of the time, you'll win. The play calling in the Bluefield title game was horrendous considering what was working already. However, Bluefield's talent was marginally better and the execution wasn't there regardless in the 4th. On the bright side of things, at least JM and Giles can at least scrimmage each other. I was hoping that the scrimmages would lead to a contract (like JM and Narrows did) but you never know. If you both need the gate bad enough, it'll happen.
  21. All that is true but you know as well as I do they, 90% of the time, reload on the lines. With what they do have coming back, I still don't see them finishing worse than 3rd in the TRD. Also, if they're smart and offer Williams the job, they'll be just fine. Not like it matters for JM, Giles won't play them in regular season regardless.
  22. Sounds like from what little you gave I might have been close on strategy. Good luck to you guys and anyone from region C or D in Richmond. It ain't Narrows but I'll settle.
  23. Good call. I can definitely agree to that. Any definite word on what pos. WVU is putting him at?
