Giles pulled their extra point wide left at the end of the fourth quarter. In OT, Brunswick made their XP, but there was a false start penalty, so they had to re-kick (25 yarder, instead of 20). That one missed wide right. (Giles had already scored on their OT possession, so the miss ended the game)

That's a good point about the Gazette and Times ownership. Didn't consider that. Now, TV I won't argue at all. Much smaller footprint for the Roanoke stations when compared to 'Timesland.' Although I think the general opinion is that the Friday football coverage on TV has declined significantly in recent years, in Roanoke and elsewhere.

Are you talking sports or overall news coverage? From a HS Sports standpoint, I feel like the Roanoke Times covers Galax sports about like it does the rest of the MED. Which is to say, not nearly as much as the Roanoke/NRV areas, but more than I've ever seen in the W-S Journal or News & Record.

Great point there. For this to be lumped in with true bullying cases with terrible outcomes, such as the one down in Florida recently, is a detriment to anti-bullying efforts.

Just to clarify, that is the VirginiaPreps all-state team. The coaches team is usually released in January (as far as I know, a player has to be first team all-region to qualify for the coaches' all-state team). Not sure if the AP writers will release a team this year or not. They did not release one last season.

VHSL schedule is not correct for most of the out of state schools at this point. For most of them, they just left in last year's schedule and made all of the games 'away games.' They also have a couple of schools listed in the schedule that don't play VA teams this year still. Hopefully that will be cleared up at some point in the next month?

Here's D4 for anybody interested. What I found in compiling the lists (disclaimer: it's a preseason list made up of who is expected back, plus any information we've gleaned from coaches in the offseason) was that D3 has a sharp divide between the top 5/6 (including Richlands) and the teams from 7 down.
