if we took the money for coon dogs, than the school would be in hurley. i think the head coon dog was the chairman of the board from hurley not grundy. if we have our way, we would take hurley and build the county land fill over there. i was told once by someone from out of the county if they had a son in jail or hurley, they would get the one out of hurley first. as far as losing to hurley in basketball, you actually beat hurley. 3 of the starters are from hurley along with the coach. so you really beat yourself. as for you taking your kid to twin valley, you should, they are losers too.

let the numbers decline at grundy, then since we will always have four votes on the school board, we will vote to close all mighty hurley and send you to grundy. then you will see what sports are really like. see you in the halls in a couple of years.

cary was strictly a wr in his fr. and soph. years. played many different positions in jr and sr years. more than likely the best all round athlete in grundy history. all state football, all state baseball, and honorable mention all state basketball. also the first dudley award winner for the best college football player in the state. named for one of the best athletes to pass through the doors of graham high school.

does 155-0 mean anything to you? that was the scores for the last three years grundy and hurley played. in fact they get more points losing to richlands than they get from a 5-5 hurley team. get over it. when they consolidate hurley into grundy then you will experience what winning is like. or better yet when grundy joins the bdd and hands you your ass every year.

radford game was at mitchell stadium that year against richlands. radford killed them. you are right the bluefield team was just as good as that radford team.

they keep making rules and the officials can not keep up with the old ones. if they would concern themself with the play on the court and stop watching the coach to see if he is in the box or out of the box. too many have rabbit ears and want to make sure they are in control of the coach instead of the game.

a disciplined team. who the heck have you been watching? they play no defense, run no plays, get more out of playing during lunch than after school. no one uses the backboard, no one blocks out, no in bound plays. so if they are picked to win the district, it must be awful weak.

the coach of year in region goes to the regional winners. d4 is the richlands staff, d3 the tazewell staff. no need to hash it back and forth, it is already settled.

lance i will have to agree with you on the statement that reed made on channel 5 sports. i believe i remember some coach that used that all week in practice to remind their defense. by the way, lamie going down did not effect the out come. just asked coach litz. they had no one scout grundy at marion when they put in the new offence that had perkins touch the ball about every play. the defensive coach goforth burned three time outs in the first half trying to adjust to it. in which he never did.

it is a no go for va high and lee high. both voted down. va high must ask to play up, or go to lpd.

lets put some things straight here. grundy played powell valley 2 straight years in 2000 and 2001. won both, played terrible against richlands and lost. when richlands and grundy play it usually does not matter who they have played before. richlands is d4 and needs the game worse than grundy does, because of all the teams in division 4. another loss by richlands, will hurt their chances of playoffs, except if they win the district. now for scheduling at grundy. you are more than welcome to come and help the ad schedule if you would like. there is still people in southwest va. who still think the roads are not paved to grundy and it is a long trip. mainly the wine and cheese crowd over in the highlands. do you actually think abingdon or va high would be playing grundy if they could schedule someone else? no... for people who have not seen a map of where grundy is, it is a lot better of a trip to play any of the schools in kentucky than try to get to lee. it is only a 3 hour drive to lexington from grundy and mostly 4 lane road. take away richlands tainted state championship, and see who has had the most playoff games played the last 10 years. grundy or richlands. my final comment is richlands played at higher level than grundy friday night, not due to scheduling. they wanted it more. good luck to them the rest of the way and lets hope they represent the swd well.

think about all the talent grundy had and could not even beat council. they need someone with more coaching experience than little league.

i think football is a team sport, scammell's team went to the state semi's twice. rushed for over 3500 yards in his career, played quality teams, got an education, become a head coach. he could have walked on at any university, as could any number of young men. as for personal lives we will leave it at that. tester wins hands down.

has anyone seen the new richlands team calendar with the team in front of a banner that says 2004 division 4 state champions? they have been a hot item in richlands this week. heard they were trying to gather them back up.

once again we have a young man come back to our county after finishing college and give something back to the community. coach stiltner (marcus) not only starred at grundy for three years (two state semi finals), but started four years at vmi and graduated with a degree in engineering. seems like he has more than enough knowledge of the game. i guess the reason he is from grundy he has not gained enough to know more than the fine people of hurley. you should be thankful for this man's will to teach kids something they have never been taught before, how to win......keep on working marcus.
