The subs came in for a series and half in the 3rd quarter GC was 42 to 7. I thought GC put the breaks on to early but it seemed tazewell still wanted to play. The holding call was clear. The no call blocking in the back was clear and the blocked punt with a ruffing call was just plain bad. The game was no where near close. Take away the punt return and the kick off return. That was 14 points to make as close as it was. The back up players was in on the punt return when that score was made. Does anyone know the stats? Tazewell may had 50 yards on the ground, did better passing. Dusty Clark GC QB scored twice while rushing for 224 yards on 14 carries and Joseph Vaughn GC running back tallied four scores as he picked up 197 yards on 19 carries to pace Gate City. It was real close-----Richlands has stronger offensive than GC with a defense just as good so i would say that game (Tazewell & Richlands) will be even closer maybe 60 to 7.

Well i was their, several bad calls on both sides of the ball. The holding call was a good call, it was clear from where i was sitting. The offensive lineman had both hands tugging so hard on a GC defensive player back part of the shirt other wise the QB would have been sacked!!! Tell em about the punt GC Blocked and got a ruffing the punter call, or all the down field blocks in the back that was not called maybe 5 or 6. As far Richlands or Tazewell, Richlands all to way over Tazewell. Tazewell & Abingdon, Tazewell seemed to better.

Here is the kicker as well, GC's line and most of the team is also young so, this should be a heck of a game for next 3 years or so. I would like to also comment on both teams overall team speed which seemed to match each other pretty good. While most everybody was expecting a long play from Richlands, GC has a few fast players in the own right. I was most impressed how both team keep each other in check all night. Richlands has a very good program and this game will help both teams to see where they need to improve on. Turnover on both teams need to be improved. To both teams (a hardee GO BIG BLUE)

Gate City must have a great defense after all the hype about richlands and their 4.3 speed. Somethings are best left unsaid.

That did not happen, Richlands player was the only one with his helmet off. Now think about this, why would a GC player being up 27 - 0 be so frustrated to cause a fight. I was their and to me it looked like a couple of blocking shots after the play was over, the ref ejected both players and the Richlands player took off his helmet and began a crying fit right there on the 50 yard line. Then player then came shot the GC fans a bird several times before the coach came and escorted him away to the other side.

I expect a hard hitting, well coached game on both side. Both teams will come out and try to set the tone early. Both teams are expected to do well this season. GC has around 20 returning starters from last year & Richlands seems to re-load every year. Legion field should be electric this Friday night. I hope it is GC's year, either way I think this will be a good old fashion south west virginia football game.

I think you guys scored like 2 plays later????????? Did you happen to see the stats of the game? GC almost double V High. The refs were not a factor in this game at all. GC had 7 penalities for 45 yards and VH had 6 penalities for 42 yards. This was a good game for both ball clubs, you should be proud of VH instead of trying to throw blame. Good luck to VHS amd hope you guys do well the rest of the year...

Your coach yelled out DAG NABBIT real loud when it happen so you must have been watch something like the blonde in the middle of the stands. Yes GC scored on every teams 1st. team at least once. Graham has a quick defense and looked very impressive. GC was switching so many players in and out that they never did get in to any rythem. With the fire and heart that Graham brought to the scrimmage if they bring that to the SWD they should great this year. Considering that this is a scrimmage GC did not play with fire & will to win as normally seen in games. IMO GC looked a little sluggish.

I felt that Graham & GC matched up pretty good. The strange thing that i notice is GC sub-ed in the line on every play with alot of differant player, i guess to trying to find the right combination. For this time of year all teams did not look to bad but in a scrimmage nobody brings their A game. It is a good time figure-out who needs to be were. PH glade spring should do Ok in their district, I look for big things out of both Graham & GC. PH Ronake may go 3-7 in 3A ball.

Nick does the samething year in and year out for scrimmages. Up the middle just about every play. Parks will shine when the combination of lineman comes to the top. Tonight though up the middle, up the middle. Graham score on our 1st team once that was it. We score on every team 1st team at least once and graham did to. The only PH glade springs score came on GC 4th team. PH Ronake scored once on Graham and several time PH Glade spring. The 2 PH team did not score on GC 1st team defense. While we did not look really impressive well when have we in a scrimmage? GC will be just fine this year and should be a real fun year too.

PV is tough no doubt. GC was flat last week with CW. GC want be flat this week. GC wins 28-14

A poster from JJ Kelly wrote this about GC-------- i will say this much. i admire coach c from gate city. he was man enough to call the dogs off in the first quarter. this could have really been a huge score for them but he was man enough to do this. i just wanted to say that. he pulled the starters and put his 2 team in. then the half way thru the third he put his 3 string in. i admire him for that. it was a clean ball game and i just wanted to give credit where it was due. and to the gate city faithful. good seeing u all again. u all know who u are. hope to see u all again really soon.

"Gate city lost a lot of players tonight and are down big time." You must be drunk? GC lost no one and clearly are not down, granted we had a great offense last year. This year will also be very good as well. Richland respectfully are quiet possible the SWD Champs this year.
