  2. Its all about getting wins....As a Bengal fan, I hope they bring in TO, Pac Man, and whoever else they can. They signed Matt Jones for dirt cheap so we'll see how that goes also. All the trouble may give them a bad rep in the public eye, but its nothing that another divisional title and chance for the Super Bowl wont cure! Who Dey!
  3. Hope so! Would love to see them sign Joey Porter or Antonio Pierce as well....
  4. Bluefield, as it stands now, will be represented in the Big Dance. Coastal Carolina has a 2 game lead with 3 to go in the Big South Conference and should at very worst receive a NIT bid if they dont win the Conference Tournament.
  5. How about best teams, players, etc?? I know Cave Spring is led by Henderson. But who else is standing out in the RRD and the PD? How about Div. 4 as well??
  6. There is no rule saying he cant contact the 7th grader. There are rules now, however, that say you cant officially offer a scholarship until the summer after their sophomore year in high school. I know this is fact for Men's Basketball. Not sure about football as they have a different set of rules.
  7. Because it limits the importance of doing the best you possibly can during the regular season. It is still important to win as many games as possible because you always want the highest seed possible, but what excitment that is caused by conference tournament runs and late season slumps will be elminated because most of the teams that are considered borderline today will end up in the tournament with ease. You will still have teams battling in 97th, 98th, and 99th, but odds are they will much less competitive teams leaving the fight to get in much less entertaining....
  8. They already have....Players have been notified but it isnt public yet.
  9. And what im trying to tell you is that these kids have to learn to deal with authority without quitting. When things get hard, all anybody wants to do is quit and blame the coach. It doesnt matter what coach is there, the talent isnt there. Somebody has to win the districts in SWVA, I understand that, but when it comes to post season play not many people in our area will be successful against teams from other areas in basketball. Those days are long gone. Coach Walker, as Tax said earlier, is trying to teach kids responsibility. He doesnt give kids a free ride and let them do what they want all the time. In a way, he is the boss and they are the employee. When these guys get into the real world, all they are going to know is if their boss makes them do something they dont like they should just quit. Parents used to want kids to play sports because it taught them responsibility and it taught them how to work towards something if they wanted good results. Parents and kids both just want things handed to them these days and dont want to earn anything.
  10. Thanks for that tip about coaching. I'll see if I cant use it in my career..lol...But anyway, not every kid is going to like their coach. Never have, never will. Not every coach is concerned about being a "players coach". When an authority figure raises his or her voice in this day and age, and SWVA is def. one of the worst places for it, kids cant handle it. Administration has become too soft, parents have become too soft, and kids have become too soft. If you love the sport, play the game and do what the coach says. Coach Walker has always been a man that didnt bend in tough situations. He'd finish this season with 5 freshman if thats all that was willing to stay and DO IT HIS WAY. He's paid to DO IT HIS WAY. Kids and parents need to stop whining. The SWVA area isnt as talented as it once was. People need to realize that and realize that expecting the same results is a crazy idea.
  11. Im sure that i'm the only person in the world that may think this way and this applies to many more situations than just this one, but maybe it isnt walker thats the problem. Maybe its the kids? When a Coach isnt doing as well as he has in the past, instead of everyone thinking the Coach needs to be fired, is it possible that the kids just arent any good???? Just a thought....
  12. Follow up on the game that took place last (Thrusday) night, in which #22 Pikeville beat #7 Georgetown. http://www.pc.edu/news/news/No-22-Bears-brush-off-seventh-ranked-Georgetown,670.aspx
  13. http://www.allkyhoops.com/2010/01/ultimate-fan-experience-at-pikeville.html Check out the above link. 14. Darker. The gym itself is awful. Very small and unless you plan on sitting in the stands and taking pictures you wont have anywhere to set up. Maybe in the corner of 1 baseline.
  15. Yeah Lance, it is just like any other All Star event. Only graduating Seniors may participate. Like the Coaches Association games or the McDonald's All American game and all that. There is also a limit to how many of these games a student athlete may particpate in, however unless they are going to an NCAA school it most likely wouldnt be an issue.
  16. Twin Valley DID beat Oak Hill RED by 40 that year. Witnessed it myself. And YES it was the RED team. Not the 3rd team.
  17. If Bluefield has to go through Logan, I dont see them being able to beat them...
  18. East Ridge is a middle of the pack team in the 15th Region....Decent big man, but only a Junior.
  19. Bout time Joey Blankenship is gettin' some props on the SWVA boards...I love it! haha
  20. Most D1 schools are in the red with their budgets as is. Student Athletes on scholarship get gear upon gear, free housing, free meal plans, and free education. What more do you want? How would smaller colleges manage to pay this amount? Where would the money come from to pay the athletes who participate in the "non-profit" sports that are listed above?
  21. Most of the time when a school says its their "JV" in a cast like that its their Varsity team playing. Its just another way to get around the limits put on them and their exhibition totals. Not bad though for all the D1 talent that was on that team and BC not having Juice playing.
  22. Does anybody have any old game film that may be loaded on the computer or on youtube of Tennis Simon and George Wythe??? If so i'd appreciate if you could post it. Thanks!
