  1. I posted a very large message about basketball and "your" coach. You have now posted twice in response to me and, combined, both messages have contained very little in response to any points I made, or basketball. So please, stay on topic if you are going to tell me do the same. Thanks. Facts are facts and outside of a year here and there, WVU will have a hard time chasing a national title with Huggins as the head coach. Track record speaks for itself.
  2. I know I have a point Beavertail, and thank you for backing that up. Its typical of the board when you say something negative about WVU to have this kind of response. Not like I didnt expect it. Truth hurts sometimes tho. If just making the tournament most every season makes the WVU fans happy then so be it. And JJBrickface...making fun of Grundy? Really? Was that supposed to make a point, because I believe I must have missed it? As far as hiring coaches go, I think WVU should focus on finding one and keeping him happy. You know, like the one that just got Michigan to their first tournament in a decade AND got a win in the first round...Yeah, ones like that would be nice.... I just dont believe Thuggins will be able to get the same type of player year in and year out that Pitt, UCONN, Louisville, G'town, etc do and if Thuggins doesnt try something different he's going to be middle of the pack. In previous years, the 1-3-1 zone and putting a shooter at every position helped even out the advantage that the bigger, more established basketball schools had by giving opponents a look that they werent used to. Same thing Texas Tech does in football. They cant recruit to Lubbock TX like OK and UT do so they have to find something different to win with lesser talent and athletes. Missouri realized this as well. Missouri had Quin Snyder and great talent, but not enough to compete with Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma consistently. So they bring in Mike Anderson and his "40 mins of hell" style of play and created a problem for the other teams in the Big 12 because they spend all year practicing against zone and man to man defense then twice a year they are met with 40 minutes of full court pressure from end to end and an offense that relies on the turnovers they create and creating havoc instead of ball screens and back door cuts. Mike Anderson had UAB in the Sweet 16 with this same method. They hire Mike Davis, who was successful at Indiana with a traditional style of basketball, and you never hear UAB and Sweet 16 again. Memphis hired Calipari. He has a system that puts an emphasis on the athlete and thats what he goes out and gets. He pressures you on D and spreads you out and runs his Dribble Drive Attack. Without a coach that emphasizes the spread and freedom that he does on O in a system that they can just go out and play and showcase themselves, they would not be able to pull top 10 recruits nearly as regularly as they do. FedEx helps Memphis as well but thats another topic. If you play the same style of basketball as the other teams in the Big East with less talent and less athletes across the board you arent going to be able to win consistently enough to win a BE title or a National title. Just my opinion tho and im sure it will be broken down and disagreed with to the fullest. lol This is all for you JJ, since you said you had been waiting all day for my opinion. I hope you enjoy!
  3. Exactly...Sweet 16 is likely the closest you are going to get to sniffing a title with Thuggins as the head man. Track record speaks for itself. The best chance he's going to have was with Kenyon Martin and he couldnt get it done then either....WVU faithful can disagree if they want, but its highly UNLIKELY that you see a final four with Thuggins at the helm.
  4. Might as well get used to early exits as long as Thuggins is at the helm....
  5. Since the graduation of Jake Colley, Haysi has not been a factor. Hurley has not been a factor in several years. Council has not been a factor in nearly 5 years. Honaker has not been a serious factor for more than an upset of TV since they made their state run earlier in the decade. Twin Valley has been a player for the past few years. I stated that earlier. This year, the 2nd best team in the BDD, Council, lost to Grundy who had their worst team in several seasons. Haysi was beat by Grundy as well. If you are talking about the late 90's and very early 2000's then yes, the BDD was as good as it gets. But that could be over 10 years ago in some cases and I hardly think that is grounds to call them still the most dominant district. Past TV, the BDD has not been very deep in recent years. Expecially if you are comparing the past 5 years to the 5 years before that.
  6. Not hardly....Twin Valley has been great the past few years....Other than that.....
  7. No, not really...as long as you get the RIGHT first picks right then you are fine in the later rounds...You can lose games with teams you dont have advancing past the next round and still be set up great for the Sweet 16. So......The later rounds are the most important...
  8. The later rounds is where you rack up points and win...
  9. Yeah, too many top of the line coaches are knocking on the door to take over the VT program. Firing him would be the biggest mistake VT could make. Before Seth, nobody in Hokie land had the NCAA's on their mind.
  10. The first team is made up of the best player from both Division CHAMPS, 2 POY who get on 1st team automatically, and a player who scored over 2,000 pts in his career. And the problem is what???
  11. How about the PG from Gate City? Will he be participating in any of the showcase games? Also, the 6'10 kid from Appy? Is he any good? I havent heard much about him? Wave 316, any new info on your VA vs KY game?
  12. Colonial Beach wins it all anyway...
  13. You may not be able to beat an ERA of zero....Thats why you have a min. innings pitched that is around 40. Like a standard does most of the time. They may win ERA, but they lose almost all other pitching categories....I just prefer a head to head format. I may still sign up just because it'd be fun to do a league with members of this board...Thanks for the explaination...
  14. i'd be in if it were head to head scoring....
  15. richlands goes 8 deep on the all district teams?
  16. Best part about that pic is that Stone Cold is giving Goldberg the Stunner and never puts his beer down! haha The NWO days were awesome. The Wolfpack made it even better. Follow that up with the rise of The Rock and Dgeneration X and you had some great times in wrestling!
  17. Does it really make that much of a difference whether its 10 or 8??
  18. How about Tenis Simon? Anybody heard what he plans to do next fall? I know he played at Wytheville Community College this past season....
  19. How tall and what position does the Anderson kid play? Any new info on the showcase game? Like set date or places or committments to play?
  20. Just wondering...What are you considering SWVA and what are they considering Eastern KY?
  21. They main reason Shelby Valley is 5th in the state in KY is still a Junior, however..... I'd think you need to look at Twin Valley, Graham, Marion, Council ( im sure adams from Shelby Valley will be in it and he's pretty big so Otto could help), Appalachia....
  22. I woudlnt say they "totally" rely on their big guys....They hit 10 3's I believe agaisnt Richlands....
