  1. I would definitely take 58 from Hansonville. I think it's 77 (not 100%), which takes you through Nickelsville. I'm by there every day, so if someone doesn't verify by tomorrow night I'll post the road number. Just be careful. It's a 2 lane road and it can get dangerous at times.
  2. I'm excited that Bluefield's comin down to GC this year. I just hope I'm still excited as they head home....lol
  3. lol.......Dang a little touchy aren't we?
  4. Knox West held a service this evening for this kid. Very classy thing to do by those folks.
  5. I hope it's a great one. We'll just have to wait and see. We have alot of youth, but hopefully we'll grow up in a hurry. The kids will definitely play hard, which is all you can ask for.
  6. If Abingdon has 71 players, they must've left 30 of them at home. Sure didn't seem to be that many out there tonight.
  7. We had a freshman QB and RB in the Abingdon game after it was 14-0. We scored with a long pass. One of our players said Abingdon didn't bring their JV team and GC thought they were only playing 2 quarters. We played everybody we had the first 2 quarters. I hope #2 for GC is ok. He was in major pain when he got to the sideline. Hopefully everybody will be healthy for opening week.
  8. I didn't know the young man, but that just gives you a sick feeling in your stomach. Keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
  9. Actually back in the 80's they were a very good football team. I remember GC beating them 21-6 in '84 and it was considered an upset.
  10. GC played Tennessee High for 5 years and won 4 of those years. Their only loss was 10-7 in '98 when we went 3-7. I'm not slighting THS at all, but more times than not you're getting better competition from a GC or PV than you would THS. I have no idea about Princeton's program, but dropping PV or GC for THS just wouldn't be that drastic of a difference IMO.
  11. I would've bet my life the first year they were called Lee County High School. My memory has lapsed over the years though....lol
  12. I'll have to take Richlands.
  13. I see. I didn't realize their school was that big, but they brought a good sized crowd with them to Salem a couple of years ago.
  14. How in the world is Buffalo Gap a Division 1 school?
  15. I've supported Gate City for my entire life, and I have nothing but respect for the Graham football program. We have teams that we absolutely despise, but after some knockdown dragouts with Graham over the years you'll be hard pressed to find someone from GC that doesn't have the same respect. That being said, if this is indeed true, it's very difficult to understand how things got that bad. CPF and I have discussed the "problem" jokingly the past couple of years. Hopefully the decision makers will wake up before it's too late to turn things around.
  16. Just don't work too hard October 2nd...lol
  17. Bill Houseright was voted in tonight by the school board to be the next head football coach at GC. Welcome home Coach!
  18. Jeff Herron. They've won 56 straight games (I think). Which is a record for Georgia high school football. I read that article on him today, and gave up any hope I had...lol. I'm sure he'll still be contacted.
  19. I'm hoping they'll look down south. We have an alumni doing very well in South Georgia.
  20. I don't think they'll let that happen. They'd lose alot of support IMO.
  21. He's already in the HOF. He went in with Tom Turner.
  22. I wish Coach C all the best. Great coach and an even better man.
  23. There's no way in the world that Holston is as fast as Burton. I hate to burst your bubble, but I can't see it.
  24. It's great for Wise County residents, but not anyone else.
  25. True I'm excited about the things I've heard as far as the future. I assume that South and Bluefield will both be at Gate City next year, considering we're losing 2 home games and they filled those slots.
