Not sure, but usually when a youth program does so well, it has a lot to do with the fact that they are playing each other, which is very deceiving and can lead to visions of grandeur from parents and a false sense of enthusiasm.

FREEDOM WIRELESS GAMES OF THE WEEK - Richlands vs Tazewell, Grundy vs Hurley
Wouldn't be so quick to throw the A.D. and or Coach under the bus on this one. In many rural areas it is very difficult to procure EMS services for a game. In many cases the volunteer organizations are spread too thin and the privately owned EMS groups can be called away in a minutes notice.
In an area that has multiple football games on a Friday night, it is imperative that these services are scheduled well in advance, months even, in order to make sure that the games are covered and even then it is subject to the above mentioned scenarios.
We are looking for fans who we can count on to post a short 15 second game report on this Facebook page on Friday Nights.
It's simple, just post a 15 second video, include the score of the game and any comments or notables.

Thanks for listening, that problem should be resolved, we had to use a backup sound mic last week and it created a muffled effect and made us sound like we were in a hole. Hopefully all will be resolved this week.
You remember correctly. Marion's official colors are red and blue. The blue was normally used as an accent or trim color but has disappeared for the most part since the 90s.
Marion's current "color crisis" involves coaches and players trying to use black against the wishes of administrators .
I recall, while working at Marion as an assistant in the late 90's that the head baseball coach, went with Blue as a dominant color with red trim. The A.D. would not allow us to wear those uniforms, and we had to resort to the old uniforms. An entire set of uniforms were handed out and given away as the result of this decision.
I sat through an advisory committee meeting yesterday and heard some perspectives regarding the state of football.
1. The VHSL is definitely "looking at" 8 man football and the possibility of implementing it in the near future.
2. Overall, numbers for football are way down across the Commonwealth. Way down!
3. Many of the schools that are dropping football, (P.V. Sterling, M. Park, etc) are doing so based on the fact that they are under the 25 participant number, which the league handbook has always used as a solid recommendation. Many of the administrators are looking at numbers of 18 and 21 and deciding that those numbers are too low and are deciding to drop the sport. In SWVA, many schools have worked with these types of numbers for several years and made out fine completing a season. But, then again, this has been more common and more tolerated, it seems, on our end of the state.
4. IMO if the trend of low numbers(less than 25) continues to push away more NOVA area schools, I would guess that football's last strong hold in the Commonwealth will be SWVA. I suspect that it could gradually dwindle in the eastern half, but the western half will tolerate lower numbers longer than the eastern schools.
5. Expect more 7 on 7 related youth teams initially to replace LL football, as an attempt to diminish CTE related incidents prior to H.S.
