  1. Well that system would have made Div 2 Playoffs : GC, PV, Honaker and Coeburn (Not exactly the cream of the crop)
  2. The only points not setup by a turnover on a short field was the FG at half time by Clintwood IMHO both teams played a heck of a defencave game IMHO Kelly D Line whipped Clintwoods O Line but I can't say that Kellys O Line whipped Clintwoods D Line..... I think that was a spanking the other way although I think the Kelly OLine made a better showing than the Clintwood OLine Kelly has a tough team but they need to step it up the last 2 weeks of the season and prove that they diserve a playoff spot
  3. It COULD happen IF Hurley wins there last 2 games, Haysi wins the BDD and Burton drops there last 2 games
  4. It is a must win game for Pound who has no hope of winning there district it they want a playoff spot. Both teams like to keep the ball on the ground I THINK Pound will be a bit bigger up front than the Rebs and that may make the differance if this turns into a Power football game My pick is Pound by 7
  5. I saw part of on film on them but from what I saw they are NOT very good. They have an OK running game and zero passing game. On D they are on the slow side speed wise IMHO Lee will be lucky to finish the season 2-8 (IMHO Battle will make a run at beating them this season)
  6. I agree I have no clue why they have not done this yet
  7. Becouse Haysi only has 1 win to this point in the season and Coeburn/PV have only 2 wins each (to this point in the Season Happy Valley is the only team Clintwood has beaten with a winning record) That being said Shelby Valley has 5 wins and would be counted as AA so IF Clintwood can come out on top in that game it should bump them back up to #1
  8. If it is still a 3 TD game at the half I will be shocked.....GC by 35
  9. I think This one could go eather way. Haysi is not a bad team but they seem to have a tough time stoping the run this season if Grundy can line up and hammer them between the tackles Haysi may keep it close for a bit but will wear out by half time. What Haysi does well is pass they have one of the better QBs in the area and some recevers that while not burners can catch as well as anyone at the HS level To this point in the season Haysi has faces stiffer competition than Grundy however you can never overlook the confedence factor in 14-18 year olds and at 3-0 Grundy is beleaving that they should win these games while a young Haysi team sitting at 0-2 may be questioning themselfs a little
  10. How is Hurleys pass D? By mid season Haysi will be putting it in the air 40 times a game
  11. Power running game? Norton is Jet right and Jet left the only between the tackles running I have seen out of them the last few years have been running the QB after fakeing the Jet Abingdon running the spread is not a good thing for the Falcons IMHO Burtons speed makes defending that type of offence easyer than a power running attack
  12. IMHO so long as Div breakdowns occure at the Regional level and not the state level the numbers will NEVER be truley balanced If the VHSL wanted to "fix" the divisions they would 1) Elemanat the Regional split 2) Disallow teams playing up or down and 3) allow mixed district so A and AA teams could be in the same district
  13. To be 100% understood Makeing a football schedule mid cycle(2010) IMHO CAN"T be done but should not be a huge problem come 2011 and the start of a new cycle
  14. I THINK we are saying the same thing.....It is my understanding that it is to late to drop this fall 09 or next fall 10 but 11 would be wide open. Filling a football schedule for 2010 would be next to impossable (since most teams go on 2 year contracts)
  15. Grundy does NOT NEED a hardship waver to drop they ARE single A sized and could have dropped for next year IF they had not applyed to stay AA for the next cycle plain and simpal they missed the deadline to drop for this cycle all the Lawers in Grundy can not dispute that.
  16. It would take a waver from the VHSL if Grundy wants to compeat in the post season and given the track record of the VHSL I DO NOT see it happening
  17. True however with 6 dates (7 if you count the Bye week and 8 if you count the week after the season is over) I think there will be an opening plus the teams that Honaker, TV and Hurley will have to drop in order to pick up Grundy will all be looking for an extra game. I have no doubt that scheduleing for 2011 will be a a pain in the butt for football but it is nothing that can't be overcome
  18. I know for a fact that Clintwood wanted to to get Grundy on the schedule again but Grundy was not able to make the dates work out
  19. All have Basketball Track Cross Country Baseball Softball and with the exception of Counsel Football. As far as helping the other sports they should be competitive in most sports IMHO Cross Country girls Basketball and Baseball should see the biggest short term improvement. Football is a different story....while they should pick up district wins over Hurley and TV I do not think Grundy will be in the running for a playoff spot. As far as filling there schedule I do not think that will be a problem however filling it with teams that will pack the visitors side of the bleachers may be Grundy will have to become at least a 5-5 team (Haysi and Honaker will both travel well and given the closeness of the game Hurley and TV may not be horrible) however I do not think that they will be able to get anyone like Richlands until they rebuild there program
  20. True but I THINK that if they enter the 2009 sports year as a AA team they are commited to remaining there till 2011 when the VHSL does there break down again Now it could be that Grundy has desided to pull there applacation to play up but if that were the case they would be A for 2009 which I do not think is the case (and would be next to impossable to schedule for this short term)
  21. I know LPD and Cumberland teams all compeated as LPD teams in wresling at one time (that may still be the case) I am sure eaither district would be more than happy to have Grundy Wresling in there district As far as putting together a schedule I am sure that would depend on the sport but I do not think filling in the 2 games that they will lose should be that tough (unless they have to redo there schedules mid cycle which will be next to impossable
  22. Not sure 2010 is right since the VHSL makes its A/AA/AAA shift every 2 years and 2010 would fall into the 2nd year of that cycle
  23. I may be wrong but I was thinking Haysi lost there Big TE and Kicker but that was pretty much it............ Clintwood returns alot of kids that will have played in 2 State championship games but will have ALOT of holes to fill........Burton Returns much of there Line and 1,000 yard rusher Miles but will have to plug in ALOT of young kids to fill out there team IMHO how well the youner Stewert preforms at QB will have alot to do with there success
