Turner will come out tonight in the double tight "T" and run the ball, just like Gate City. It works. Richlands needs to get away from the two platoon system and put the BEST ELEVEN on the field. He has three pretty good running backs (# 42, # 5 and # 4), no experienced quarterbacks and no dynamic play-maker at receiver (Webb is more effective taking hand offs.) The defense would benefit from extended offensive possessions. Best eleven on the field works, ask Thad Wells. Massive changes needed, Air Mance needs to turn into ground and pound.

Well Ryan, it appears he was there at least half a season. Next time you throw a sarcasm grenade, pull the pin. From what I saw, he was pretty damn good.

Also, the second inside linebacker for Graham should be on the list. They were a hell of a pair.

Ethan Phipps from Richlands should be in there somewhere. I really dislike the way these post-season all district/all region teams are put together.

Well said by the Goochland coach, very respectful and very complimentary. You can tell he is confident in his team and their style of football. Message to the G-Men!!!! Do not take this team lightly!!!!!!!!!

Goochland traditionally runs double tight/double wing and is very, very physical. They have added some wing action out of the shotgun recently. I have talked with a Goochland alum that I know, during the season, and he expected to be in the finals and told me they are very good. Like someone posted earlier, not many weaknesses. If Graham get off to a fast start and can score quick....look out. However, if Goochland slows the pace, Graham may get a bloody nose. Regardless, these are the two best 2A teams in the state and the game will be a tremendous state final. Good luck G-Men, represent Tazewell County well.

With the game moved to Northwood, may not be a live broadcast......hope there is.

McCommons was a Sophomore, the team finished 7-3 and had some great seniors like Chris Harrison, Brad Davis and Adam Yost. Would have had a good run in the playoffs. Lost to Lebanon, Powell Valley and Christiansburg.

IMO, a lifetime ban from coaching and unable to attend any games for a year.

Youth league administrators need to stomp (no pun intended) this culture out by having a zero tolerance policy. Empower the officials to eliminate morons and toss their butt out of the game. If you eject them and they refuse to leave, forfeit the game or call the police. Nothing better to set the example than seeing a turd wearing a pair of Smith and Wesson's to the back of the cruiser. Gotta have someone with a pair of balls to say "not on my watch."

If you are talking about the 94 silver uniforms, see the other thread about helmets.

The top design was worn in 92 (State Championship team) and 93. The bottom design was debuted in 94. This was the helmet when the silver uniforms were worn in the playoff game versus Lee. The helmet design in 91 was basically the top design with a few more frills (striping and outlined decals.) I always equated this helmet design with the New York Giants helmet when it read "GIANTS." In case anyone is wondering, the player at top is Chris Harrison, one of the best linebackers to play at Richlands. He also doubled at TE, he would have been scary in a spread, pass happy offense. He could knock the snot out of ya!

You always seem to counter point my point....wouldn't expect anything different. It doesn't seem reasonable that he would turn down the first all star game west of Roanoke in like fifty years (that is actually in his home county) but you are right..no one knows.

If people judged teams by their fans...none would be cheered. I have heard this crap at Richlands...Like I said every team has a jerk or two in the seats.

I would tend to agree....Richlands defense was on par with Union's....if we were a little more efficient, offensively...oh well.

This game is crazy.
