    Grundy-Abingdon

Is is possible for both teams to lose? If not then I say Grundy big, the highlands is terrible.
  2. AAA would be from Westfield with 3112 to Potomac with 1475, meaning Pulaski County would go back to AAA. AA would be JEB Stuart with 1466 to Appomattox with 707, with no schools that are currently A coming up to AA. And A would be Thomas Jefferson with 700 to Highland with 109, meaning Graham,Tazewell,Grundy,Va High,Dan River all dropping to single A. The truth is the biggest impact will be on single A with 3 and possibly 4 quality teams dropping, while Pulaski goes back from where they came, in this part of the state that is about all. That was 305 schools counted with the breakdown as following AAA- 102 schools AA 102 schools and A 101 schools.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] "2007...3 classifications, split in thirds, play where you are placed" In 3rds as in 3 titles for each classification? [/ QUOTE ] No, still two divisions in each classification...six titles. However, by not allowing schools to play up, lots of schools in the Richmond area that play up will be forced to play in their correct classification (some schools with Class A enrollment numbers play up to AAA). This in turn will move some of the larger AA schools up to AAA (schools in NOVA and some larger schools in the Roanoke/Lynchburg area). Actually, the whole idea of "playing up" is really what screws up the whole system and is why you have such a large disparity in some enrollment #s within each classification. How will it effect Graham by playing Class A??? Well, first off, the Southwest District as we know it will be no more. Unless Richlands' enrollment drops, or several othe schools' increase, the Blue Tornado will remain in AA, as will Carroll Co. Graham, Tazewell, and Grundy will be Class A. Graham will find itself in a totally new district. There are several possibilities for a "new district" however, it will all depend on which direction Graham will want to go. I really forsee Graham, Tazewell, and Grundy remaining in the same district. Add schools like Honaker, Lebanon, George Wythe and you have one heck of a district. As for Graham being thrown into the Mountain Empire District as some plans have indicated, well, don't count on it. Those schools do not want Graham to join their district and frankly, the "match-ups" are less than desirable for all parties involved. Well really just have to see how this all plays out. As the VHSL official said "nothing is set in stone". [/ QUOTE ] Last time I counted we were like 30th in enrollment in single A, and both Grundy and Tazewell were close enough to us to make single A. The big loser is Richlands who will be forced to play in the highlands, but at least they get the district title for the forseeable future. But for Graham this is great, I think you very well may see that as a new district, plus money gates with Richlands,Bluefield, Gate City, even Radford and Giles. I don't see how we lose in this unless we are forced to play with Pocy and Bland. This is great for us I think.

    Graham....

That is what it sounds like to me. And I have one word for the situation......good. It is about time the VHSL put these babies in there place. The Northern part of the state is doing all the crying, but no one wants to do anything about it. Yet they cry for more playoff spots and less for region 4. If they make us play A ball then we leave all that politics behind and can play football once again. I hate it for schools like Richlands who will be forced to play AA, but that is how the cookie crumbles. I love it, let the chips fall where they may.
  6. I am pretty sure the game is Saturday night at 7:30, don't want you to get there too early.
  7. Well that would explain it, maybe he is trying to live up to the legacy of ole stubby. Stubby was a beaver man 100 percent, but at least he knew something about sports, the only thing Bob looks like he knows anything about is eating.Has Bob even picked Graham to win one time this year? If he did I don't recall it. I guess you have to consider the source, no hard feelings he just doesn't know any better.
  8. Doesn't his kid play for Beaver?
  9. Looks as if were gonna be ok now.....
  10. And how are you guys kin to each other?
  11. Bluefield won the game, but neither team showed me much. Graham had 12 penalties for 95 yards, and once again did not move the ball consistantly until the freshman QB Will Cole came into the game. But I will say this that kid is going to be special one day. Cool as a cucumber in that pocket. Hate to say this, but I even question if he is not our best quarterback on the team. I just can't get over how well he played. I know we lost, but truthfully I feel like we found the key to our future tonight. Good luck to both the beavers and the g-men the rest of the way.
  12. 9-0, those special teams plays lead directly to 21 points, other than that we were solid on defense.
  13. Bluefield 21 Graham 7 Richlands 44 Tazewell 0
  14. How is that ankle? We are dropping like flies.......
  15. Ever heard of winning with class?
  16. A great team took a good team to the woodshed tonight. My hats off, you drilled us tonight. Special teams killed us tonight, 2 muffed punts(1 recovered by us), an onside kick recovery, and 3 punts returned inside our 20 yard line gave you all the momentum you needed tonight. Offensively we didn't have a clue tonight. The only bright spot tonight was the defense, which I thought played well considering they were on the field pretty much the whole night. But anyway, good game and maybe if we are lucky we will get another shot at you later in the year.
  17. If that is what you are comparing them to then no Graham team will ever be worth a crap. Which I guess means Bluefield will never be worth a crap either since one of the greatest Beaver teams of all time just graduated everyone. We have a nice little team, not great, but not terrible either. You have made little backhanded comments about us that aren't really fair. But that will all come out in the wash next week won't it?
  18. Typical anwser, wouldn't expect anything less.

    COLA!!

I thought that had something to do with the Richlands coaches refusing to exchange game film with Graham that year.Or that is what I was told anyway. That is the only time I ever saw Carlock do that in 30 years, so he must have had a reason.
  20. For once can we just play a game and quit worring about who has played who and how tough your schedule is. Who really cares. Two 4-0 football teams will play a great game in 6 days and I am looking foward to it. If Graham loses I'll say great game and look foward to the next one. And I will expect the same if we win. All the other crap really doesn't matter.
  21. We won't make excuses whether we win or lose. I have this strange feeling we will be playing twice this year anyway.

    TV Coverage ?

I used to think that WOAY was the most horrible station on earth, but last year WVVA took the title. Chris Miles was the sports anchor on a Saturday night last fall when Graham played on a Saturday night at home, as the ONLY game played that night. WVVA sent a camera crew for a few select first half highlights and promply left the stadium. Well at 11:20 when sports came on they didn't even know who won the game or the final score. The station is approximately 3 miles from the stadium, and they couldn't get anyone down there to look at the scoreboard. Pitiful. They should just move that entire station to Beckley since that is all they care about. About six months ago, there was a shooting in Falls Mills that was the lead story on WOAY and WVNS, both stations at least 1 hour from where it happened. On WVVA, they made a brief mention about it 7 minutes into the newscast. Needless to say, I will never watch that station until they have new owners and management.
  23. Ahmad Bradshaw and the Marshall Thundering Herd vs Kansas State on ESPN 2 at 10:30 AM tomorrow morning.
  24. They got seven points on a 11 yard "drive" after a Graham fumble on a kickoff. But we won and that is all that matters.
