  1. 2:14 to go USC 4th and short at the Texas 45; and they decide to go for it and fail. We will soon find out if this was a bad decision by Pete Carroll. USC just held on third down but got called for a face mask. First Down Texas. 1:20 to go so we shall see.
  2. Once again, as a Hokie fan, I will give credit for an outstanding performance. On Monday night they were a better team than UGA. That game, the LSU - Miami game, the Utah - GA Tech game are great examples of why I love college football. You can look at the game on paper and think a game is going to be close, or a blow out and it goes the other way. You can never tell what gets in the minds of 110 young mean during a game. The same thing makes High School football special.
  3. Tazewell is in school. Only Raven Elementary will be a polling place.
  4. I'm jealous, but TV was cool by me since I have to work tomorrow. For those who didn't see the "Vick Stomp," WDBJ showed it on the 11 p.m. news. Vick was interviewed and said that it was an "accident," and that he apologized. Kevin Rogers the QB coach wasn't buying it. He called it embarrassing. I agree. (I miss Brian Randall.)
  5. I have to agree on two things; poor officiating and poor sportsmanship. Here are just a few comments. The Louisville QB is one tough kid. He got the snot knocked out of him time and again and kept on playing. I am a strong Hokie, but am embarassed by Jimmy Williams poor behavior. There are just sacred rules you don't break, and one is to not touch the guy in the striped shirt. It is even more frustrating since it was 30 yards away from the play. Vick's stomping on Dumervile's leg was classless. I do not care if he had done the same thing to you earlier, that is just embarassing. We all know that kind of stuff happens every game, but you need to try to be above that kind of stuff. It was a strangely called game. I particularly liked an unsportsmanlike conduct call on a clean hit to the QB, and the phantom off-sides play against Tech when Louisville was near the goal line. The QB sees Lewis across the line takes a knee and they don't throw a flag. In the end, it came down to defense. (doesn't always) Sapp and the boys played the way they should. I hope that Beamer and the staff, will work on reining in the emotions. Louisville used some of the same tactics to get in the Hokies heads early that Miami and Fla. State used. And it worked again, at least for the first half. Best of luck to WVU tonight. I hope you come to play.
  6. I am beginning to wonder about a few things: How strong is the Big Ten? After seeing Minn. and Mich against average teams from the Big 12 and ACC, just how good are Penn St. and Ohio St. What in the hell happened to Miami? That is not the team I saw in Blacksburg. LSU just plain maimed them. I can write GA Tech off; they just didn't want to be in San Francisco, and it showed. By no means am I a WVU fan, but if they don't show up ready to play in what is basically a Georgia home game, they could have a long night. I hope that Tech was watching LSU-Miami. If they were I hope they learn a lesson and are ready on Jan. 2
  7. I agree that is what needs to happen to drunken idiots who decide to step on the field. The all-time classic happened at a Baltimore Colts game, back in the day. So idiot ran out onto the field and the Colts All Pro linebacker Mike Curtis tackled him. It was a perfect form tackle and he drove the idiot into the ground. If you step onto the playing field during the action, you should pay to price.
  8. If you need proof that this is a class kid, consider the fact that someone comes on here and trashes him and he does not respond. I enjoyed watching you lay it on the line on the field, and you show class and maturity now.

  10. The QB for Appy had a ruptured tendon in his ankle. If you saw any of their semi-final last week you would have seen that he was also a great runner before the injury. 1000+ rushing yards on the season.
  11. I guess their theory is that they are the only game around, so they can charge what they want. Unless I have no other choice, I just don't go to Charleston. Why pay the extra money to go shop there when I can save the money and go to Roanoke.
  12. Do your homework all of those guys left Atlanta after Time Warner ran Ted off. He was the one who brought in Bobby Cox and Shurholx (sp). He loves the game and I hope he buys them back.
  13. Tazewell Co. 2 hours late Monday 12-12
  14. Just another example of the trend to put the best athlete at QB. In that offense, you need a powerhouse initiating the offense.
  15. I watched the first half, and was really impressed with Panola's QB. That kid was just plain tough. I also liked the one red show and one black shoe.
  16. What is going on with the team? First 3 players transferred to Bluefield. Now I hear there was some kind of blow-up during the tournament in Pocy, and the coach quit, and then came back. Does anyone have any insight?
  17. Way to go Rob! You have the payoff for a great year. Thanks for the leadership you showed this season. Make sure you pass the torch to next year's leaders.
  18. It is very easy to pick out the HUD apartments in any community. They are all required to have the HUD logo on their signs. The key in this whole deal is in Gman's comment re. university involvement. As long as the players are playing by the rules for subsidized housing, qualify and are getting no special assistance from the University to get in, then it remains no big deal.
  19. I agree that there is nothing improper about students, whether football players or others, using housing allowance money to pay for subsidized housing. The only concern I had was that they are being accepted through the normal application process and not getting special consideration. When I was in college, it would have been great to be able to live in subsidized housing rather than to pay market rates to live in whatever I could afford.
  20. Here's what I heard out of Knoxville; David Cutcliffe back as Offensive Coordinator, they will fire the Receivers Coach, probably the running backs coach and at least one defensive coach. I agree with Gman, it comes down to leadership, and staff continuity. It all starts at the top.
  21. It will be interesting to see if ND can do better than the last time they went to the Fiesta Bowl. That time they were blown off of the field by Oregon State.
  22. No, they had the talent to contend for a National Championship. They have been hard to figure out. One thing we know for sure is getting rid of Randy Sanders sure turned their season around.
  23. That's whats so great about college football, you just never know. After the way Miami played in Blacksburg, I thought they had put it all together. Then tonight GT just manhandled them whenever Miami had the ball.
  24. Big man, that is another class post. As a Graham fan, you will have my respect for the way you carry yourself. both on and off the field. Best of luck to you.

    Seasons end

Thanks for the great comments, that is exactly the kind of fans we all need to be for our teams. It is so easy to pull for the team when things are going good. The sign of the true fan is when they stay until the end of a tough loss, and are there for the team during a bad season.
