As long as you have akers your going down hill. Sorry for good coaches like Burke etc. akers is a Cancer. Y'all are screwed. Not only is he a bad coach. He's a bad person. Swva needs to quit hiring these coaches from big schools who have big athletes who don't know how to coach. I'm a fan of old school football. I don't give a damn if they coached NFL talent. Give me someone from Holston chilhowie any day. They know how to coach our kids.....

I don’t know a whole lot about how Akers is doing at Gate City. I do know it takes way longer to build a program back than to tear it down. Akers did a good job in his second year at Rural Retreat. Uhh. Check amount of kids and coaches he ran off at RR. Program still trying to recover. Kinda like our guy down the road......

Y'all are just now figuring out what a cancer he is. As a long time fan of the hogo I know parent's and coachs at RR. He demoralized the kids and coaches everyday. Mocked previous coaches and the schools tradition. Even coaches still on the staff. Alot didn't help after just meeting him in initial meeting. Come to find out he applied for job because he had been offensive coordinator at previous "big " school. But actually only was OC for half of 1st quarter before HC took play calling away. He's a cancer and his repercussions are still being felt at RR.

Has anyone heard any info on this position?

I hear up there at GW that Pruitt is retiring and the top two candidates are James from FC and Hensley from RR. The principle is good friends with both and wants them in that order. And supposedly wants both together on the same staff.

RR has run the veer the last couple of years, they should have a better knowledge of knowing how to stop it, than one of the losing teams that Holston has faced this year. It is a fun offense to watch and I just glad that some teams in SouthWest VA are running it again. Back when I was in school (decades ago) we ran it with success.

Beware of a team that makes a living off of the veer....

It was all made up. Nothing actually happened except the kids were pushing and shoving each other and they shoved one into the mascot, not even knocking her down. The father rushed her to the hospital and said these things, (it was on the news sat. morning) and then changed his story when being questioned monday.
