Lobster reacted to cityofRaven in Richlands has their new coach
Great hire.
Proven winner and knows how to run a program.

Once he takes a bite of a Big Pal with Cheese and some Frenchy Fries he'll be on board.

Lobster reacted to cityofRaven in Mac Goes Back To Back
Maybe now we can get one of those urban paintings on the side of the Gate City Pal's with Mac and Shaq back to back...

Lobster reacted to cityofRaven in Taylor stepping down at Lebanon
I think if the Lebanese want to keep a coach for the long term, a unlimited gift card to Pal's should be on the negotiating table.

Lobster reacted to 1inStripes in Sarge Reed passes
To me a legend in the area. Sarge was a long time assistant for Harry Fry at Gate City. In the late 70s he took over as the lead Dawg at Appalachia stepping down in 79 after a 7-3 campaign handing the keys to Tom Turner to take over. Sarge then took over the Rye Cove program in 83 and got the broke on the brink of a state title in 88. RC had defeated Jonesville at Jonesville near the end of the regular season before losing to the Dogs in a mud bowl in the region finals during the improbable run for the crew from Jonesville. Sarge stepped out of coaching after 1990 but returned to the Cove in 97. He was to be he HC but took the assistant title instead so a former player, Joe Carter could be the HC. Sarge still ran almost everything for the program for the next three years which were some of the programs winningest teams. He took over the Twin Springs program in 2003 as they were coming out of a really rough stretch. I asked him why he was heading up there. Coach told me he liked a challenge and had coached at GC and RC, he might as well mark off the last county school before he retired for good. Coach stepped down after only two seasons. He led TS to two of their programs three region final games during those two years.
Coach Reed wasnt flashy. He wore the same clothes to practice everyday and its hard to tell how many miles had been put on his 80s Thunderbird. He expected you to be physical as he said he only felt like he had lost two ballgames when his teams were the most physical one on the field. The playbook wasn't super deep on either side of the ball but like the nickname "Sarge" practice was drilled like military over and over to run things to perfection. He commanded respect but showed his "bigguns" a lot of love over the years. RIP to a SWVA coaching legend in my book.

Hats off to Tarter for stepping in and doing the best he could under the circumstances. Gotta admire those kids for playing until the last snap. Many could have quit or transferred out but chose to stay. That says a lot about them.

Had to copy and paste from another thread.
There’s no way a sane person would stick around after this year. All you torches and pitch fork fans are getting your wish. I appreciate Jeff Tarter for stepping up and standing by these kids, his only payment has been hate and he didn’t deserve it.
Little note to whoever is crazy enough to pick up the reigns, remember how fair weather Richlands fans are and good luck. Go blues!

Lobster reacted to cityofRaven in Scrimmages/ Benefit Games 8-18
I can't tell you what my favorite thing about the NFHS Network is...
Is it the fact that despite paying for it, I have to see the same ad every time I bounce between games.
Or is it that most places can't even get their equipment to work.
Or maybe the fact that there was just some random kid by himself roaming the field in Saltville..

Lobster reacted to SwvaOG in Scholarship Offers
Rigdeview’s Koda Counts signed with Bluefield and will be on the defensive side as a S. I thought he was an underrated, in the box SS (had him as the best SS in Region). He will have to learn the coverage side and techniques as RV’s staff was not very good in that area. He has a good frame at 6’3”, 170 and will hit you.

Lobster reacted to Cousin_Hoyt in Coaching changes
May just be what it is, just a big rumor. Cousin Claude works over in Kudzu County and told us that someone mentioned that a SWD Football Coach was thinking about resigning. We’re not going to start or spread any rumors by mentioning a name or school, however, has anyone else heard such a story? Uncle Percy always says, “A rumor is just like a Poison Ivy Rash, if you scratch it, it keeps spreading”.
For the unknowing, Kudzu County is Buchanan County. From the top of Shortt’s Gap to the Kentucky State Line, Kudzu is everywhere.

Lobster reacted to cityofRaven in Tazewell- Graham Ended Abruptly
The real question isn't how many quarters they play a night, but how many fights can they participate in each night?

Lobster got a reaction from cityofRaven in SWVa Top 20
They moved up to 25th. The Boissevain Fire Department had to burn their backboard during training drills.

Lobster reacted to cityofRaven in SWVa Top 20
Richlands boy's aren't even a Top 20 basketball team in Tazewell County.
I'd put them around 25th behind the Boissevain Volunteer Fire Department and the Frog Level Drunk Dribblers.

Lobster reacted to Ol hardnose in Lebanon @ Grundy
If the field doesn't dry up, I'm picking the mudders (Grundy.) Playing in mud is tough. One of my right socks is buried under that astroturf at Honaker from back in the day. First I lost the shoe, then found it but lost my sock looking for the shoe.

Lobster reacted to V-Cats in 2D First Round: #6 Lee @ #3 Virginia High
I am so proud of our guys for rallying behind Brody and to our coaches for making the quick adjustments to give Deshaun the best opportunity to succeed. Lee played a hard fought game but ultimately I think our speed made the difference
Please keep Brody in your prayers, he's got a compound fracture in his leg and underwent surgery last night

I don't know anything about timeout usage but Brown at QB was definitely a great move. But man, these games have to be wearing him down. He's carrying the team. Great athlete for sure!
