  1. Not sure what led them to schedule this game but they both must have needed it in order for it to happen.  I think it's been around 20 years since these two have met on the football field.  I believe this game is going to be played on Thursday 9/21 at Mitchell.  Not sure why but every schedule I've seen shows 9/21

The phone is hooked into a box that is connected to a mic. Sometimes the phone signal connection is acceptable. Most of the times not. Sometimes it's just plain horrible like the Princeton-Bluefield game last Friday. There is nothing the crew could have done. I actually turned it to the Princeton broadcast and suffered through that broadcast because the broadcast was clear.

Yeah I turned it on after I left the game and it was near impossible to make out anything being said.  I guess Adventure Radio has money problems so quality is suffering on broadcasts.  I noticed for several years they cut the Virginia Tech sports broadcasts short in pre-game and post game so they must not get enough sponsor money to air the full broadcast.

Bluefield and Graham's games are terrible quality now because the radio station complex manager will not pay for phone lines.

So the fans have to listen to the game broadcast being phoned in on a cell phone that's in speaker mode???

  4. I've been concussed several times from imitating wrestling moves on the bed when I was a kid and falling off of said bed, soccer game collisions, "backyard" football collisions, nighttime hide and go seek collisions, and lastly getting up in the middle of the night drunk to take a piss and the next thing I remember is lying in the bathroom floor with a knot on my head.

  5. Going into this game I didn't feel Bluefield was playing that well.  Several things happened today that Bluefield couldn't overcome.  Early fouls on Hopkins, Fuller didn't shoot well, defensive energy wasn't there, and too many turnovers. Maybe they were looking ahead and didn't take Lincoln seriously since they were 12-13 coming in.  They also just looked lost trying to attack the Lincoln 2-3 zone most of the time.  I bet Lincoln gets beat by Chapmanville by 25.

  6. I only said worst I've seen in several years, not ever.  Am I a bit biased?  Most likely.  When I see Dalton and a Bluefield player going for a rebound and Bluefield player has both arms around the ball while Dalton only gets one hand on it ball for a second or two reaching over the Bluefield player's back that should not be a jump ball.  Also, when I see two Graham players lower their shoulders sending Bluefield defenders flying during a dribble drives and one Bluefield player do the same on a dribble drive, all three of those should either be all charges or all blocking fouls.  I didn't agree that Bluefield should have been called for two blocks and a charge on those three plays.
I know basketball is difficult to officiate and when it’s a rivalry that adds to the difficulty, but I would think most fans would like to see better consistency given those examples I provided.

I would also like to commend GMS for those new bleachers and floor.  That's a great place for a basketball game.

  7. WE also has a Sophomore Emily Saunders that stands 6'5" and is a game changer by herself.  They four teams they lost to three of them are out of state.  WE beat St. Joe's Saturday and that is a top three program in WV in any class for several years now.  If I remember correctly several of the girls on the WE team won an AAU national championship a few years back.  The AA title is WE's to lose and probably will be next year since most of that team is underclassmen right now.

This year's Bluefield girls team is probably the best they ever had by a long shot.  I've watched them a few times and they play pressure defense pretty well and are fun to watch.  The freshman guard has been a big additional for them this year. their problem is depth.  They only play about six in rotation.  They also beat Greenbrier East Saturday which was a solid win as well.  I'd love to see them in Charleston in the final game.
