Don't know where you are hearing that Union is overlooking Burton but from what Ive actually seen, they have been working on playing specifically Burton for a couple of weeks. Rumors are rumors, believe what you will, but this team is focused on Burton only. I seriously doubt a coach would overlook a state champion track guy running the ball for his opponent. Like I said, rumors are rumors. Stay focused Danielson.

I could be wrong, but I don't see any team around here that can stop the passing game of Union. 5 wideouts that can flat out catch and run. I just don't see any defense around that can stop them, not even Richlands. Rarely do you see 3 guys 6'4" or taller that are athletes that can run at a high school level. Even if teams can line up and stop the run they cant stop the pass, I just don't see it. I could be wrong. These scrimmages that have been played have been very low profiled and only a hint has been shown. I could be biased but Ive watched a lot of high school football thru the years and haven't seen this many skill players on one team at a time. The only weakness this team shows is the interior on defense and it may surprise us.

Va High takes this one over Union by 4. I must say that Va High is the most talented team in the area and Ive stated it before but they have got to have the worst coach Ive ever seen. The guy is absolutely the worse basketball mind around. They have way to many ball players with talent for teams in this area to compete with. I don't know the kids name, but number 22 can flat out shoot the ball but for some reason the mastermind coach they have will not utilize him. Hats off to a hard fought battle from Union, Barnett and Mitchell were impressive. Tourney should be fun.

Va High is by far the best talented team Ive seen play this year, although they lost the game to Union. Poor coaching for the Bearcats, should have more W's in the column.

I would agree that GC has the edge on Union right now but the tide is turning. Union returns all starters except Hall an d has some good players comin up from JV. Gate City 's JV looks pretooty good but I wager they have a couple years on Union's JV. Union has a 8th grade JV mostly and GC looks to be a little older except for Ervin which is a fine looking 8th grader.
