  1. How dare you say something about someone affiliated with WVU. Watch your back, GMan. The wrath of the lord is upon you. Remember, God is a WVU fan.
  2. When you have a threat of violence, you take care of it. These kids wearing these shirts presented an opportunity for violence to erupt. I understand the students have the right to wear whatever shirts they want. I understand they have a right to express themselves. I understand that it would be irresponsible of offended students to act in a violent way. However, I understand that their right to express themselves could have resulted in very bad actions. The 5 students wearing American flag apparel on a Mexican holiday to their highly Mexican populated school presented a problem that could result in some very bad actions. So, the school took care of it. Would you have rather them let the kids walk around their school all day until someone of Mexican heritage finally snapped? Would you have rather let the harsh feelings of certain individual build until something terrible happen? Would you rather let these students "express themselves" with the clear consequence of danger being present? As an administrator, you do what you have to do for the safety of your school and students. They saw that these shirts the students were wearing presented a clear opportunity for the safety of the students as well as others to be jeopardized. If nothing was done and the kids ended up jumped or worse, I'm positive you all would be like "Well why didn't the administration protect these kids from the horrible Mexicans!? The school isn't doing enough for the safety of its students!" The adminstration did what it had to do for the betterment of the safety of its students. Plain and simple.
  3. What you aren't understanding is that this has nothing to do with making a statement or patriotism or freedom of speech/expression. These kids walked into their high school with a high Mexican population on a Mexican holiday with American flag shirts, bandanas, and shoes. Not just one kid, but five. You're telling me those kids didn't all sit together with this idea and not think "Something is gonna happen" or "This could cause something"? I'm sure if they, as a group, wore the American flag clothing on any other day it wouldn't have been a big deal. However, they planned for it to be on a Mexican holiday and to wear it to their school that has a high Mexican population. And you're telling me that not a single one of them was looking for trouble? This isn't a political or criminal matter. To say they have the right to make a statement is true, however, when it comes to looking out for the safety of all parties involved, the school has the right and did the right thing by approaching these boys. In all honesty, I'm suprised the kids lasted until 10am without a fight being started.
  4. Wearing a shirt with an American flag is not "looking for trouble." Organizing a group of people to wear America flag shirts, bandanas, etc. on a Mexican holiday in a school largely populated by Mexicans is.
  5. This attitude is what makes people hate Americans. Have fun being another stereotypical redneck, douchebag. These kids who wore the flags were trying to start something. They weren't being patriotic or proud of their country. They were walking into their school looking for trouble and they got it. Now it's leading to complaints? Give me a break.
  6. That guy who got tasered dropped hard. Even people who get shot in the back stumble a little bit...but there was no hesitation with this guy.
  7. I was referring to most southern teams in general. I don't even want to get on the topic of Westside and that whole mess last season.
  8. WE, along with nearly every other southern WV team, is too busy getting fat off cupcakes to even think about playing Bluefield. They'll stick to losing in the first round of the playoffs with their 9-1 records.
  9. There may be something with the NFL that forces him to charge for appearances/autographs sessions. I know Bradshaw charged for his appearance at Graham High School a couple years ago.
  10. I think that statement is related to strip mining but not in a political sense. Accidents like that are just what she says...a tragedy.
  11. Hacker, Mean Girls is one of my favorite movies. It's genius.
  12. I would agree if Kevin Jones had even half the athleticism Ebanks has. If Kevin Jones gets faster and adds a little hop to his step, watch out.
  13. Some of my friends and were talking about it and we all agreed that Ebanks NBA stock definitely went down this season. Last year, we were talking about him being a top 5 pick. With him coming back for this season he didn't show me much improvement. I never remember him taking over games, flat-out dominating any opponets...nothing. He has some extreme potential though, and that's what is making NBA scouts drool.
  14. Actually, I hardly consider it great work. Westboro doesn't need people to yell back at them. I gurantee they went back to their church, told the congregation of their experience in WV, and began to discuss how the Bible tells them how "Christians" will face persecution and the acts by the people of Charleston are just the reaction of ignorant people to the will of God. Yelling at the people of Westboro Baptist will get this country nowhere. Gathering around them and shouting ands screaming while they are standing on a corner peacefully with their pickets is just adding fuel to the fire.
  15. They're scheduled to be at the University of Charleston at 5 today, at Charleston Catholic High School at 7 or so, then the Board of Education around 9 (this is best I can remember according to their picket schdule on their website). Then, as far as I know, their revised plans for tomorrow and/or Saturday include going to the mine.
  16. Westboro Baptist is coming to Charleston today and will stay through the weekend. Their original plans were to stay in Charleston all weekend, however, due to the recent mining accident, they plan to pay a visit to the mine. Now I never want to wish bad on anyone; no matter what you've done. However, if these people from Westboro Baptist just so happen to find themselves injured or worse....so be it.
  17. "Fast" Willie Parker isn't necessarily a bruiser.
  18. Don't forget about Willie Parker, who will most likely be the starter in the backfield for Washington.
  19. Bembry needs to be gone. Three arrests in 13 months deserves to be gone. Marshall doesn't need to need to join WVU in having such a poor disciplinary reputation.
  20. Great pickup. I hate how no one lists Mcnabb as an elite qb in the league. The one time he had a big time wide receiver, they reached the super bowl. Give this guy a big target, a healthy running back, and some luck in the injury department of his own, and Washington could be looking at a Super Bowl soon.
  21. You can cheer for whoever you want. There aren't rules to fanhood. Give it a rest, man.
  22. CPF, you're exactly right. Duke and Carolina are two incredible programs because they play hard, they win, they graduate players, and you hardly hear a single negative thing about them (arrests, academic issues, etc.). Jealousy happens.
  23. On the topic of officals impacting games: The way I was taught as I grew up playing sports: if you let the officials decide the game or a couple of bad calls cause you to lose, you didn't play hard enough for them not to be a factor. You, as a team or an individual, have to play to a level to where the officials can make a couple of bad calls but it doesn't impact the game. That being said, let's get to the topic... I think WVU's defense has sucked this tournament. Leaving Missouri an infinite amount of open shots and they just missed. WVU's defense did nothing to beat Missouri, but they won the game. I thought it wouldn't last against Kentucky, but what do you know? The defense struggled, but Kentucky's offense struggled more, so WVU got the win. Do I think WVU's poor defense will last against Duke's shooters? No, I don't. However, I was wrong, as well as 4 big time WVU fans I talked to about the Kentucky game. If WVU continues to get their breaks with leaving guys open yet they continue to miss shots, they'll win. Duke - 78 WVU - 70
