  1. In S.C. they use the same type of classification system (6A,6AA, 6AAA etc.). The games just don't seem to have the same "feel" as when you have districts. And with the playoff system you can have a good record and get beat out of a spot by a team that may be half way across the state and not have as good of a record as you.
  2. Does anyone have the 2013 football schedules yet? Could not find them on the VHSL website.
  3. Like normal, nothing in the BDT (online) about the game. Didn't even find anything in the Roanoke paper.
  4. In some places, the HS coach is the "Commissioner" of the little league. He works with the coaches and in some cases he gives them :"basic" plays that he uses in high school. Also when the kids get to Jr. High level the coaches are using the same plays as the HS so by the time these kids get to HS they know the basic plays and the HS coach can move on to more advanced formations without having to go back and teach the basic plays he uses.
  5. Besides keeping the coach longer than a couple of years, the High School programs foundation is started in the Little League program. So if the HS coach can stay awhile and work with the little league program then the HS program will start to flourish. (Also if they can go out and recruit some good players might help).
  6. Also, when there were no classes (A,AA,AAA) a small school may end up playing a school that had a much larger enrollment.
  7. I agree with Futbolking, WVVA ( like the rest of the news media) are blowing everything up and making a mountain out of a mole hill!
  8. Check out the salaries of HS Coaches in SC. Not sure if there are any in VA that make as much as some of these guys. I think these are from 2009 so you can imagine what it is Today. I know of at least one coach that move here from Lousia County and he is probably in the $60,000+ area (he is not even listed in this chart). Also, a lot of these guys don't even teach classes! http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/2009/01/11/739260/see-salaries-of-south-carolina.html#storylink=omni_popular
  9. Why don't they get a "turf" football field like they have at Richlands or at Mitchell Stadium? Unless VHSL changes their rules on off season practice and conditioning, that facility is not going to help that much. Maybe it will be a memorial to the "Foundation".
  10. I guess if that is the qualifaction, hen stayed at a Holiday Inn Express one time so I may be over qualified! They need to hire someone for the longhaul and leave them alone.
  11. Having moved to S.C., you can see the difference in HS football and players. Down here they allow the HS's to have a spring football practice (no pads). I think it usually runs for at least 2 weeks plus they have the 7 on 7 in the summer. Dosen't seem to cause any problems and they are ready for the fall season when it starts.
  12. He probably stayed at Tazewell until the kids from Poca were done. That would make sense. And yes he probably was run off too. For some reason that tends to happen there, of course they can get a good (winning) coach there and he loses then leaves and has winning teams elsewhere.
  13. Does anyone have the link for the website that carried the radio broadcasts of several of the ball games last year. Moved to the MB, Sc area and would like to be able to still keep up with the games on friday nights.
