  1. Hurley 14 Lebanon 0 Central 7 Hurley 0 at Wise last night
  2. I thought the starting QB from Honaker was transferring to Abingdon?
  3. 9-1 Eastern Montgomery Va ( H) 9-8 Pike Central, KY ( H) 10-27 Open 11-3 Twin Valley Va (A)
  4. The fastest kid in SWVA is at Ridgeview unless he transferred to Richlands. The kid is a 10th grader. You can check his 100 and 200 every week and he blows away the competition.
  5. The best lineman Hurley had but not the best player. The qb is the probably the better of the two.
  6. Don't feel sorry for Hurley because the bad attitudes are going to Richlands. The other 30 kids that are returning next season won't miss the BS.
  7. Lol We haven't had a Workman in a long time. Keith played football at UVA-Wise and graduated from there in the early 2000's.
  8. One out of three but with a "us" not "ice". lolI don't think RHS has contacted anyone for school records. Maybe they will on Monday.....probably touring the campass when Mr. Insight talked to them. I heard those two were gonna visit two other schools before making a commitment. lol
  9. Belfry does get transfers from other schools in Pike Co. and Mingo Co. but how many and how often....I cant tell you. I do know that Phelps got some of their kids back from Belfry and Pike Central this past season when the field was finally finished after 5 or 6 years with no homefield. The line Belfry has had the last 4 years are home grown kids. I have been hearing about them from my family in Pike Co. since those hosses were young. Belfrys success isn't just in the last 4 years. Coach Haywood has won 417 games at Belfry and Prestonsburg. I think he won around 80-90 games at Prestonsburg. Belfry has been in 12 KY state title games since 1985 and they are 6-6 in title games.
  10. Fully agree on the one site. A couple of coaches and myself were discussing this over the weekend about starting on a Friday and finishing on Saturday with Sunday being a extra day for a bad weather make up day. I know me personally that I would like to watch Dinwiddie, Richlands and Staunton River because of a Hurley connection to each of those schools.
  11. Hazard lost 21-14 to Beechwood in the title game. Alot of talent in that corner of Pike Co. and Mingo Co. Belfry and Mingo Central is probably a 30 to 40 minute drive from one another and they have two state titles this year
  12. That is a weird entrance to a school. lol
  13. You are kind of right. lol Pikeville High and Pikeville Elementary is part of the Pikeville Independent Schools so they are the only school in town. Pike Central, Shelby Valley, East Ridge, Belfry, Phelps and all feeder schools are part of the Pike County Public School system. Belfry is the envy in all of Pike County in football. I would think Pikeville would be more like Parry McCluer than PC. Pike Central is more like a Tazewell or Lebanon.
  14. Staunton River got two kids on their team that have parents that are Hurley graduates. #5 and #20 are their numbers and both are really good athletes.
  15. Belfry Ky. finally woke up and beat Corbin. The Pirates were down 17-14 going into the fourth and scored 28 unanswered points. Belfry has played in every semi final since 2003 and 9 state title games. The Pirates go for ring number 6 next week. Hazard Ky will be playing for a title and Johnson Central will be playing for a title.
  16. These group of seniors were only 4-6 in their 9th grade years with multiple games missed by each due to injuries or sickness. Brady, Zack, Devan and Rocky didn't start and the other 4 didn't play that year. So....yeah it was hard to predict. As of right now, we have added Tazewell, Pike Central ky, Tug Valley WV, Eastern Montgomery, Rye Cove and we need one more. Elizabethan TN and Blacksburg called last week. You think we can hang with them? How about Tolsia WV? they called or how about Union? Union offered us the same deal as Thomas Walker playing both games at BSG. Just telling you our offers so you wont be in the dark when you make the calls to schedule games
  17. That's cool man, you can value that win of Fort Chiswell ever how you would like. Coach Tiller has done an excellent job this year and he is letting his playmaker Rider make plays instead of holding down just the tight end spot. That win vs. Galax probably set the tone for the rest of the season for his team. I just feel that Galax is the team in 1A until proven otherwise because they are the defending state champ and are still in the playoffs. Just like I think Belfry, KY is the team in 3A because they are the defending state champion and still in the playoffs even though they have one loss this year. Strangely enough, Belfry has never went undefeated in any of their 5 state title teams. Y'all out in Wythe Co. probably don't keep up with Belfry Ky but to most kids that play sports in Hurley do because we can be to Belfry/Williamson area as quick as we can Richlands. By the way, I know GW is legit too. I already watched video on you guys. I don't want to post this without giving props to y'all.
  18. I'm not sure how or why this conversation took a nosedive. Lance asked a simple question and it went from being positive to a hot mess. We all have bad apples in our fan bases that would rather argue than eat so don't lump whatever amount of Hurley posters that are members of this message board with two or three knuckleheads. Y'all have been on this message board long enough to know the difference between a legit fan and someone who is an idiot. The Hurley community is very proud of this year's team as should Richlands, Graham, Union, GW, Galax etc communities should be proud of their football teams. Any parent of a football player knows the commitment that the kids make to be in the playoffs and be successful. The Rebels have have worked hard to be 11-0. They were 8-2 last year playing the same schedule and they rededicated this offseason to defeat two teams that they lost to last year. Trust me, I know how much work because my son is on the team and has worked harder than anytime in his life for the opportunity to get to the big game. Someone said that Hurley people on this board think this is the best team in SWVA. I'm not sure when or if it was said but the coaches, the players and the parents involved in the program have never said anything of the such. The coaches tell the boys every day and I'm quoting Rick Flair...."to be the man....you got to beat the man". Galax is the defending champion and they are back in the same position as last year. Sorry GW fans, sorry Riverhead fans and all the others but until Galax is knocked off they are the best in 1A. My last thing I want to cover is that someone said Hurley only had a good team every 10 to 15 years. I actually think this was a Hurley poster and that just shows how close they follow the program. Coach Tester, Coach Davis and Coach Quinley have consistently had Hurley playing competitive football in SWVA under their tenure. These three have only had 3 losing records since 2006....2006, 2007 and 2013. The 2010 team was one of my favorites because they broke the string of victories that Haysi held over Hurley and qualified for the playoffs. The 2008 team was a good team and they had a winning record after struggling for two years with a losing record. The 2014 team was a good team and broke the long string victories that Grundy held over Hurley. I could go on but I will shut up now. I just wanted to clear the air on some things and let y'all know the difference between a fan and fair weather fan. Good luck to everyone this week and Thank y'all for your time.
  19. LC is the team that beat Garden in the title game in 1986. The Green Dragons are still the only football team from Buchanan Co to play in a state title game.
  20. RR is a good little team but Rural Retreat isn't the best team Hurley has faced this year. The score really doesn't indicate how well Hurley's defense played tonight. On to Parry McCluer next Saturday.
  21. Bennie Burrell passed away the Summer he graduated at South Holston Lake. I cant remember all the details but it was a swimming accident. He was going to attend E & H that Fall. Hell of a ball player.
  22. I played during that time and the best that i can remember is that Pocy. didn't play Honaker initially due to some reason that was never disclosed. I think Pocy either forfeit or didn't schedule Honaker. Could been a bad experience from a previous game in the early 80's or maybe the AD didnt want them in the BDD and they wouldnt schedule them. Honaker had a senior loaded team and did win the BDD in 1988. They were rebuilding in 1989.
  23. Honaker joined the BDD in 1988. Honaker may have been in the Cumberland or Hogo before they changed districts.
