The Bluefield /GC game I think will be a great game and another great atmosphere once again. It will be close either way. Also about GC fans sitting on visitors side, if the away team would get there a little earlier then they could take some of those seats away but there is very very rarely enough visiting fans to even fill up the half that is already open.

I agree something definitely needs to be done. But personally I like the fact that the track is not roped off because it provides more of an atmosphere in my opinion in super crowded games. For example this coming Friday against Sullivan South, it will be 6-8 deep all around the fence and that provides a great atmosphere of cheering fans. Being on the field or even in the stands during games that are that crowded is amazing! But something definitely needs to be done about the bad apples, I agree, but those are anywhere you go. Go Big Blue!!!

All I wanna say is who had more penalty yards? GC did and it wasn't even close at all! Truthfully GC played undisciplined football on the line of scrimmage last night with a lot of false starts/offsides etc... But that will be cleaned up this week, those things happen sometimes. Go Big Blue!!!

I agree the Big Creek kids are good and athletic. But I was at the GC/Richlands game last week and the other quarterback that played besides johnson played 10 times better than johnson did. The other qb's passes were actually on the money, whereas johnson was not very accurate, and he was very mobile too.

That could be due to the fact that GW didn't even bother clearing 3 inches of ice off of their away side when GC played GW in the playoffs in the early 2000's. The entire away side was covered with and terribly uncomfortable to sit on while the home side was as clean as could be. I know that because a lot of GC fans went to sit on the homeside because of that poor sportsmanship!

I was there and it was not close at all. The punt return was on subs and so was the kick return, the subs were in on offense for a series and then a couple more plays on another series. Also, defensive sube were in for a series. Score was closer than the game actually was. GC 499 yards to Tazewell 204 yards.

I think it will be a great game. There is a big difference between Tennessee football and Virginia football and I think that works in GC's favor. Typically Tennessee teams are more finesse where a lot of Virginia teams are smash mouth. South hasn't played this type of team yet. If GC can tighten up their pass defense it oughta be a great battle. I'm looking forward to it. It is gonna be a huge huge crowd!

The flag was actually thrown way before the pass was!

GC also blocked a punt, but they threw a flag for running into the punter even though the punt was blocked. Gave Tazewell a first down but GC ended up holding them anyway. Bad calls both ways!

Gate City first of all was up 20-0 with 6 minutes left in the first quarter then they put in 2nd and 3rd string players for several series. Abingdon scored one touchdown to make it 20-7 then GC put 1st string back in for a few more reps to make it 27-7 then let 2nd and 3rd teams play the rest of the night. First stringers weren't put back in after 10 minutes left in 2nd quarter.

There is no way Abingdon will challenge Richlands. After watching them in the jamboree a couple of wks ago they may be the worst team in all of AA in Virginia. they looked like it was the first time they had been on the field all year. The only challenge Richlands will have is Tazewell and even they wont be able to take Richlands down!

Gate City has 6 seniors but only 5 of them start. However, they do have many underclassmen that have started for the last year or two. So, they are very young but do have quite a bit of experience.

I think it will be a good game. Both teams are very young but also very talented. Go Gate City!!!

dont forget though that gate city also beat lebanon last year too but lebanon won in the region d championship. however, gate city does have what many consider to be the toughest schedule in virginia single A this year with Bluefield WV, Sullivan South, Richlands, Tazewell, Powell Valley, Lebanon, Virginia High. I am pumped and it is gonna be another great exciting year bringing in the Houseright era at Gate City!

Gate City is going to be pretty good this year but they are going to be young at some positions. But they have so much talent, very athletic this year. They are also going to go back to the old Gate City style of football rather than trying to implement a spread for some plays when they do not have the personnel for that. I believe they are gonna go back to power football and passing out of a shotgun or 2 running back set. However, with Bill Houseright as coach they will be coached up very quickly. GC/Richlands is going to be a good game, it will be a tough game but I say GC 21-17. I look for it to be a very good year for GC

I don't understand how Tihlee Anderson is only second team. He is a better all-around player than any of those on the first team. He's a great closer when it is crunch time and also has better stats than any of them. It just doesn't make any sense. However, like you said they just don't know what they think they know. But even if they went only by stats then Anderson should be first team.

Gate City had 3 trips to Richmond in 4 years, ending with the 07-08 season. They were in the finals for the last 2 of those years.

Yeah I just read that one too. It will be interesting to see who they choose. It will definitely be a big decision that shouldn't be taken lightly.
