  1. I think it could be a good game. The one thing you have to remember, and I know that Marion's Johnson is speedy, but I don't think that they have faced a team with the speed of Richlands this year. They just have speed on both sides of the ball and the O can be very explosive. If the blues execute on O consistently like they did against Abingdon and like they are capable of doing, I think Richlands wins by at least 2 td's. I don't mean to disrespect Marion, on the contrary, they have always played us tough and you don't have Marion's record this time of the year unless you are good. I just think they may be surprised at our speed. I just think it comes down to how consistent the blues are on O. So far this season they have been up & down, but the D has always been there.
  2. The Grundy kids got a lot of respect last night. They might not have won the game, but they showed they can play with the Sw district teams. Showed a lot of heart with the comeback and are going to be a hard out for anybody they play ! GOOD JOB !
  3. Well......thanks, I hope your right, but there are several games left to play yet. Marion is next and is 5 and 0 and that will be a tough game especially at Marion, and also CC is always tough at their place. They seem to always give us fits there. If we can get a little more consistent on O I like our chances. I think the week off after the Abingdon game hurt a little. The D looks great, and if the O gets the consistency, I like our chances in the playoffs. The speed and talent they have gives them the ability to score from anywhere on the field. Special teams seem to be doing well also. Just can't beat good coaching !
  4. Thanks, and same to ya ! Bluefield is always tough so you guys got a good win. Of course every win is a good win !
  5. Classy Post Bulldog ! I wish you guys luck the rest of the season and I hope the kid that was carted off will be ok ! That's one thing I hate to see. I was carted off when I played with a tore ACL and meniscus so I know how he and his family feels. Hope he gets to finish out the season !
  6. Richlands 28 Tazewell 0 Never mind, I was beaten to it..... I'm a little slow with the keyboard....lol
  7. Well said, and I agree ! I hope you get to play also Dean ! Sometimes some refs think the game is about them ! That's a sad reason to not let a kid play in a game. Nothing personal, but I hope we win, but I hope you can play ! You don't get many chances to play in a game like this. The Richlands, Tazewell game is special to the players........and the fans of both teams !
  8. They did show a lot of heart when the game was on the line ! Did a good job in the 4th. Corner was all over the place ! Should be a good game next week !
  9. I sure hope that's true............but, I've seen to many Richlands,Tazewell games over the years and it's rare that it's a blow out. Tazewell is always tough at home. You also, can't go by what one team does against another team, some teams just matchup better with some teams. But I do think that if Richlands plays anything like they did against Abingdon and with Mance having a extra week to get ready and come up with a game plan, I do think they should win the game. You just don't know which team.....on either side will show up....lol. Should be a great game and a lot of fun to watch ! Get there early ! Richlands 30 Tazewell 14
  10. I think the game in Tazewell will be a really good game, and a lot of fun to watch. When we play each other, the record doesn't matter, and it's a very important game as far as the district goes. Of course, in the Southwest, every game is important, but this one is special ! It should be a great atmosphere there !
  11. .....LMFAO......you've got to be kidding me....lmao ! A slick field.....that's good :D You guys really are delusional !
  12. Richlands is the 5 time defending district champs and has to be considered the favorite until they're beaten. Tazewell is very capable as they showed against Lebanon, and so is CC, especially when you play them in Hillsville. They always give us fits up there. We really don't know what they have right now, but Grundy is 4 & 0 and you can't just over look a team that has not been beaten yet But in my opinion, Richlands is the favorite.
  13. Thanks for the post. Every win in the district is a big win. I think your right about coaching. Talent is important in high school football, but good coaching can really make a difference. I don't know anything about your coach so I will refrain from making any comments about him. That's for your fans to do. But I will sing the praises of Mance and staff ! He has done a great job at Richlands building a program here. We know that no matter what might happen in the first 1 or 2 games of every year, he will get them better and be ready for the playoffs. This year Richlands has a lot of talent, but as it has been stated many times, they're young. Mance has brought them along slowly, I think they will be a different team by playoff time than what they were in the first couple of games. They're young so they may stump their toe again, but he has them heading in the right direction. Good luck to you guys also.
  14. I'm trying to figure why your worried about it ! We might be talking a little smack ( and it's been very little ) after the game because a couple of Abingdon fans talked before the game. I think we are allowed to have a little fun after a district win, and I don't think it has gotten out of hand. Just be happy that Honaker won a game last night .
  15. Good post Lance and I want to 2nd the congrats for the Grundy kids also. Things do get tougher for them in the next few weeks as they start the Southwest district part of their schedule. But they have done a good job so far. I don't care who you have played, to go 4 & 0 is to be congratulated !
  16. Sorry guys, but you couldn't run, or pass, or stop us ! I don't think we are the one singing the blues tonight. Look out..........the blues are starting to click ! We still have some work to do, but things are starting to come together. Abingdon just ran into a buzzsaw tonight. The boys were fired up with the new Jerseys and glad to be back in Ernie Hicks after 2 weeks on the road. Good luck the rest of your season. Richlands has a week to rest and get ready for the back yard brawl !
  17. Sounds to me like Bluefield played a good game and did a good job with all the injuries against a really good team. It's easy for a team to get down after all the injuries they had tonight, but they showed a lot of heart. Good luck the rest of the year and hope you guys bring back another state !
  18. Let me start by saying that nobody is a bigger Richlands fan then me, but, if I was picking a favorite " right now, " I would have to say that Cave Spring would probably be the favorite. BUT, there are still several regular season games to be played and plenty of time for Richlands to mature as a football team. They are a pretty good team right now, and are still so young and only 3 games in to the season. With Mance & his staff's track record, I like the chances that Richlands will be ready by playoff time and just might be the favorite then.
  19. I think Abingdon has a good team this year, but I don't think they are good enough to come into Ernie Hicks Stadium and beat Richlands. Richlands is young but coming together and when they do start to click on offense......look out ! They've shown flashes of what they can do. They just need to put it together for a whole game. The D is solid, but we do need to be a little better at stopping the run up the middle. That will come also. I don't think Abingdon can run the ball against us, and that will make them 1 dimensional and if that happens........I like our chances. Richlands 24 Abingdon 13
  20. Congrats on your team this year guys ! I'm glad they are playing well. Grundy use to have a good football program and I hope it's on it's way there again. Back when I played in the 70's, we always knew that when we played them, it was going to be a hard fought game and a hard hitting game. I wish you guys good luck the rest of the year ( except when you play Richlands .....lol ). Hope you guys do well in single A next year and represent our area !
  21. .....LOL! I'm not going to get into this with you. Maybe one of these days you'll grow up !
  22. They are young, but they will keep getting better. They have a lot of talent and good coaching ! I think all the starters on D are underclassman and all but 2 on the offence. PV always gives the blues fits and it's a tough place to play. I read in the paper that Jack had some kind of internal bleeding. I don't know if it's true or how bad. Football not withstanding, I hope the young man is doing ok. I heard on the radio before the game that they had a prayer for Jack. Just hope it's not very serious.
  23. Well I guess that made you feel like a really big guy.... The Bristol paper said that he has some internal bleeding. I guess it would be to much for you to have a little class. But I guess after having Richlands kicking your butts the last 5 or 6 years, that's about all we can expect from you. You know man.....jealously is a bad thing, you need to get over it !
  24. I'll be going to watch the blues play Abingdon on Friday. At one time I thought this game might be a blow out, but after Friday at PV I'm not so sure. Richlands seems to have more trouble with teams that can run the ball up the middle this year, which is unusual for Richlands. Also, our best D back ( Jack Vance ) might be out again. I don't have any new info on him right now. I don't think that Abingdon has the power game, so the blues should be fine. But you never know in high school football, that's why they play the game. Richlands 35 Abingdon 13
  25. I gotta go with this one. A real slobber knocker....LOL ! You had to be there to really appreciate how hard of a hit it was. Snot, mouth piece, helmet, and ball all went in different directions :D. It's still one of, if not THE hardest hit I've seen.
