In general about the being picked on junk why is this kind of junk going on any more. All it causes is a big mess like we have all saw happen around the country. I know it still happens in a lot of places but it should be stoped. The coaches at all schools should set the players down before any preseason stuff starts and put a stop to any thing before it gets started.

Let's put it like this.... Battle won more playoff games last year....3.... than Virginia High has won in the last 10 years I'd guess?   All of those years of beating Battle in a row... I've got a little secret for you,   it wasn't because Virginia High had good teams.    Virginia High always has an average team and has athletes...but if we're talking about results,   the bearcats haven't been relevant in SWVA football as long as I've been alive.    The best group I'd guess is the group in the late 80's with Lucky Daggs?    I may be wrong on that name but even they didn't do a whole lot as far as playoffs are concerned.
Going back to last year... Battle is 17-2.       If you want to go back 3 years... Battle is 23-6.           How many years do you have to count back to get 23 wins for Virginia High?    During that time span...how many losses did they have?
 
 
Before you bring up Battle's past... I'm from Appalachia bud.....don't go talking about playoffs and such to me.   I've been through more towns because of the state playoffs than you've traveled through in your entire life most likely.

He's just a Richlands troll. Nowhere to be found until Richlands has a bad week or a loss. It is what it is.

Lots of folks seem to be piling on Richlands over this loss...I guess because they rarely get the chance.  But, the bottom line is this: When you field a program of that caliber, fans of other teams take joy in any setback that happens to ya whether it's in the field or off.  Same thing happened during PV's glory days.  You get everybody's best shot every Friday and when a team does beat ya, they act like they've won the State Title...and then you get to listen to it from fans of every team but yours tell ya about it all week.  Fact is tho, there are VERY VERY few teams in SWVA capable of beating Richlands..so have your fun while ya can guys, cuz it'll prolly be a while before the chance comes around again.

I don't ever remember anything like THAT happening at a Richlands & Gate City game........not saying it didn't,  because maybe I was at the restroom or something and missed it,  but I have been at every RHS GC games over the last 10 years and I just don't remember anything like that particular incident happening.  I have never seen anything like that in the years I played or watched.  I have seen punches thrown,  but not a helmet used in that fashion.
That kid has issues !

Agreed. But you must have some semblance of a passing game. Staten is an amazing back. But if we allow the defenses to key on him the entire game, we won't score many points. There needs to be a bit of balance. Mance said after the game he wants to run the ball to open up some play action passing. We will see how it goes for Gate City. 

Well said both Ryan and old-school-blue. I completely agree you must pass the ball at least some and physical play is a must in football. Should be an exciting year to watch a different type of Blues football.Really excited about some of the younger Blues. Zeke, Kevin Alley, Danny Anderson, Landon Mance and River. I think they all have bright futures on the football field.
 
Good luck to all Southwest Va. Schools this year! I sure hope we all can put it on the Western end. Should be exciting testing out this new system. Good luck to all!!!!!!
