Beavers Rule

I heard that this camp is not happening now due to NCAA rules. Ansel will be playing for Concord this fall and Coach Justice told him that this camp can not be held by him or any other player that is currently playing for a college team. I will double check the info and post later.

I agree, great season Bluefield. You have nothing to be ashamed of or hang your head about. You were playing on the last day of the year for a title. Something that every other AA team in WV would have loved to been doing. Great job boys and coaches. The community should be very proud of how these kids represented our town while they were in Charleston. Very well behaved and they played their hearts out. Best of luck next year.

Most people on the wvpreps board are picking tug to win it all. I hope the Beavers have something to say about that come championship Saturday. Good luck Beavers!!!!!

Game is tomorrow, Thursday, night. Starts at 7 at BSC. Would love to see a big turnout of Bluefield fans. Going to be a tough game with a trip to charleston on the line. Good luck Beavers.

Yea it was a rough start but credit the skyhawks, they came out with more passion than we did. Once we woke up, we put them away. Scott has a very young team with only one senior and several freshman get a lot of minutes. Congrats to the beavers on another victory.

They played Pikeview on Tuesday night

Shorter quit the team. Didn't give a reason why but he's gone. If DJ Edwards keeps playing like he has recently it'll help the loss. The Beavers did respond well tonight with a 103 to 61 win on the road at Pikeview. Edwards lead the beavers with 20 points tonight. We had 6 players in double figures. Got another tough game Friday with Scott coming to BSC

In 07-08 the last time they went to Charleston they won 21 games. That was Ansel Ponder's senior year and the year that Craig Havens coached them.

There was a conflict with BSC. Game had to be moved.

Update on young Mr. May that broke his arm in game last night. He had surgery at CAMC late last night. Both bones in his left forearm were broken. It was a compound fracture with both bones breaking the skin. Again all of Beaver Nation will be praying and wishing for a speedy recovery for the young man.

Game was delayed about 20 minutes in first quarter after a Scott player broke his arm. He went in to defend a layup by Eades and fell to the floor. He put his hand down to break his fall and when he raised his arm, the forearm area was bent. It was nasty. Thoughts and prayers be with him. Hate to see a kid from anywhere get hurt especially to that extreme. Thoughts on the game: the Beavers came out hot and really jumped on Scott early. After a big lead and the delay, they just kind of cruised from there. Scott never really got close and the Beavers finished them out. They did look a little sloppy at times with some uncharacteristic turnovers. Scott plays mostly freshmen and sophomores. They have a nice team and will be something to be reckoned with in the future.

Round one to ol' man winter. They are currently trying to work out something to play tomorrow. If I hear anything definite, I will post it.

Bluefield was up twenty in second half before pikeview had a late run to cut it to 12. The Beavers were lead by sophomore Anthony Eades with 22. Through two games this year Eades has 36 and 22. Pikeview was lead by Will Webster's 18. The Beavers play the winner of James Monroe and Princeton tomorrow night at Princeton. Game starts at 7:30. Good luck Beavers.

Shadeed is not playing this year. Not sure why. He could really help with his defensive pressure and ability to create shots.

Bridgeport did contact Bluefield but wanted us to come to them two years in a row and Coach said no but we would meet them in Charleston for a two year contract and they wouldn't do that. As of right now, Bluefield has 9 games scheduled for next year with the addition of Westside and Riverview. If Wayne re-signs, we will have a full slate for next year. CCD is no longer on the schedule but we do have a home game with Charlotte Latin. We also have: Graham, Princeton, Oak Hill, James Monroe, Greenbrier East and Gate City.

Bluefield won 3 of 4 quarters at the BSC gym on Tuesday evening. 1st qtr. 22 to 14 2nd qtr. 20 to 10 3rd qtr. lost 15 to 11 and 4th qtr. 25 to 14. Saw some good things and bad things but overall, not a bad showing. They started 3 sophomores and 2 seniors. This is a very young but talented team should be fun to watch.

The schedule or roster is not posted on the wvssac website yet. I talked to bob redd he told me they were not broadcasting the basketball games

Anyone have any thoughts on this years Beaver basketball team. I know they will be young but I think they will have a very good year. They have a lot of talent on this years squad and hopefully by the end of the year they will have grown enough to make a serious tourney run. They had an excellent summer and the boys have worked hard in the off season. Good luck to the Beavers.

Congrats to Evan Smith an upcoming Junior at Bluefield. He was chosen as one of eight junior golfers in the state of WV to play in a tournament against the eight best from Virginia and Maryland. Good luck to the young man. He is an excellent golfer and outstanding young man.

I think Shawn Brooks was also on that team.

I agree, Bluefield is young and will be better later on. I just don't understand why with over 30 seconds left and a two possession game, you just give up and don't continue to foul. You have two timeouts left and a two possession game with the shooters Bluefield had on the floor, I just think you have to play until the final buzzer. I know I'm not a coach and I should'nt be second guessing our staff but I just can help but wonder why they just gave up.
