  1. If Graham can do to Richlands what Abingdon did....forget run defense and focus solely on pass defense, then Graham wins. If Richlands has developed any kind of ground game then they mix it up enough to win. Jmo.
  2. I left with with about 5:00 to go in game and of course turned on the radio. I heard some people in the background once or twice but I couldn't make out what they were saying....albeit, I knew they were Northside people because it sounded celebratory. I've been in the press box a number of times so I figured you guys were next to some NS staff. I agree wholeheartedly, terribly unprofessional to be that way in a press box.
  3. Okay, don't mean to sound like I was rushing you. Just didn't know if I was looking in right place.
  4. Ryan, did you post everybody's picks? I can't find them.
  5. AHS was outcoached tonight. No doubt. And give credit where due, Northside came to play. Their play calling was outstanding...beat us around the end and we couldn't contain....but we didn't adjust our scheme for that at half. Fulton being out really hurt our ground game too. We had no punch. 2nd team RB did a good job, but not like Fulton...no where near. Tough loss for these boys. Northside seemed to catch a lot of breaks too....tipped pass by our D lands in the hands of Northside WR at the one, for example. We had a chance to score with first and goal at the 8 early in the 4th....2 running plays for Sturgill on the left side that gained a yard each. One incomplete pass on an out route at the 2 incomplete. Fade to corner on 4th fell incomplete. Bad play calling there no doubt...that's where Fulton could have really helped us.
  6. I was going to say the exact same thing. Most interesting to me was the 1 point AHS win over Northside. A 9-1 team vs a 4-6 team....1 point victory. Hmm? I know the level of competition and SOS is to be considered, but geez man....1 point???
  7. Good luck to all the "good guys" tonight! Some local teams are playing each other, which stinks because someone has to win and someone has to lose, but here's to all the players...may you play the best game of your career and walk away with your head held high no matter the outcome!
  8. I agree Uvaobserver. It's crazy on FB. People need to be careful what they say, regret has a hell of a memory. I'm also not a fan of Trump but I disliked Hillary even more. For me the election was all about the Supreme Court. We need to embrace the change and make the best of it.
  9. Thanks Ryan....but it's your fault I forgot that one! Lol....I used your pick'em list to go by and the Glenvar/Gate City game is the GOW....so it was listed at bottom of page and I didn't scroll down that far....my bad, thanks for getting it!
  10. Here are your winners for Rd 1. I'm listing just the winner and score prediction: Abingdon 42-21 Parry McCluer 31-17 Hurley 42-28 Patrick Henry 21-17 George Wythe 56-6 Chilhowie 41-17 Ft Chis 44-12 Narrows 34-28 Galax 48-3 Richlands 42-6 Martinsville 38-10 Graham 48-7 Union 44-13 Dan River 40-6 Giles 28-17 Appomatox 50-6
  11. Here you go. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/northside-vikings-(roanoke,va)/football/schedule.htm
  12. Come on havok....you gotta do better than that!! Lol...I'm kidding, of course. thanks again.
  13. Thanks for doing that Havok! Thats a lot of work!
  14. Thanks and good luck to you guys in the playoffs!
  15. Out of the top 7 in 3A west the only team that lost was Lord Botetourt.....75-29 to Staunton River. Brookville (#1 ranked) won a tight game 25-23 over Jeff Forest. I can't imagine much changing above AHS and I would guess AHS won't drop. Don't know if LB beat Brookville or Rustburg during the regular season, or if they ever played each other, but with LB getting beat tonight I would guess AHS' only chance to move up would be if LB had beaten either of those in the regular season.
  16. From what I've heard, AHS RB Fulton out 2-3 weeks with shoulder issue....and maybe longer if the collar bone broken. There was concern voiced about cracked collar bone but that's complete speculation that can't be confirmed at all without X-ray of course. Whoever said he left the field was right, he left with it in a sling. I did see 2 guys at the game tonight that appeared to be scouts...but not sure if they were HS (meaning they were scouting for playoff purposes...and it could have been scouting out either team) or college scouts. If HS scouts I would guess they were looking at Marion. I can't see coaches coming all the way from Roanoke area to AHS to scout our game against Marion. They had bracket sheets (blank ones) and had files and stuff in their hands. Anyway, can't wait to see playoff pairings!
  17. Just want to make sure I understand this.....if AHS loses then their points will be somewhere between 258-263 depending on other games. And if AHS wins then their points will be somewhere between 276-281, depending on outcome of some other games....is that right? Please be patient with me...this is the first this has mattered for us AHS folks, since I've been here at least. Thanks!
  18. Yeah, a loss would kill them. That's what I'm hoping the team knows....it would cost them a 2nd rd home game. Just 3 years ago they were struggling to even make the playoffs.
