Richlands don't cheat. They take advantage of the rules, they are usally better coached and better atheleticly is how they win. You are concerned about holdovers in the eigth grade. All schools do that (a lot more than Richlands).

Mitchell stadium is home of the mystry flag. For years every time Richlands made a big play, there was always a flag thrown way away from the play. Nobody in the stands would know what it was for, so we started calling it the mystry flag......

I am from Richlands and I think two of the toughest games we had in 2011 were with Gate City and Union.

I heard the VHSL commitee was soppose to meet today and were going to talk about redistricting all teams and about moving Richlands and Tazewell down to single A. Has anyone else heard this or anything about this?

In the Pulaski game , I think it was #22 did break lose for a 61 yard TD in the second half. The rest of thier yards were gained against the second string.

I heard from a probably not so reliable source that a lot seniors quit on the Tazewell team. I don't know if there is any truth to this . Has anybody else heard this ?

It starts out with close call going against Richlands, then the crowd lets the ref have it. Thats how it gets started, from then on the crowd stays on that ref and he seems to make sure every call he makes is against Richlands. I see that first close call that the ref usually calls right and I wish the Richlands crowd would just accept it because I know what that ref is going to do the rest of the game. The refs always come into a game with good intentions, but after a bunch in the stands gets on them what could you expect?

Gate City and Union both have good football teams. Union has home field advantage, but I think this game will come down to penalties, turnovers, and who gets lucky breaks. Good luck to both teams.

Dye is a tight end (my bad) . I was just remembering when Richlands played Honaker , he made a couple really good catches .

I like number 82 ( Dye ) from Honaker, number 8 ( Johnson ) from Richlands, number 1 ( McGlothlin ) from Richlands. They all go to the ball.

I'm 59, played some for Richlands in the late 60s....early 70s....(not much, too scrawny)

Does district champion still earn an automatic birth in "AA" ?

I think Richlands number two back ( Statin ) is a good running back and could start on a lot of teams in this area.
